Is possible within MC to have as a lower indicator (below the chart, like where RSI or stochastics reside), an indicator that is NOT derived from the charted instrument?

I have been able to do this in TOS, but after an online chat session with MC, I got the impression that it was not doable in MC. Well, I was told that it was not possible, assuming we understood each other...

As an example, I have a couple charts where I have mkt data as a lower indicator, and these will include two McClellan Oscillators, one for the NYSE and one for the NASDAQ. Another is the put / call ratio info for a mkt. Also, the number of mkt new highs / lows... Market data, not just from one symbol.

These are indicators that I find helpful for what I do; and would like to know if they are possible in MC. I realize of course I need the data to pull this off, which is how I was pursing this inquiry initially, but now I have reason to believe that even if I had all the necessary data, MC might not be able to depict what I desire.

Thanks, Tony

I think this is possible - you can add many instruments to a chart which can either be hidden, shown in its own window or be addded to an existing window. Once addded to the workspace, you can add indicators to any window for any existing instrument.

For example I routinely have a 5R e/u and a 60 min e/u with indicators using either instrument as the source displaying in all windows.

Hope this helps.

diverdan, that does help, thank you.

A second data series can be added to a chart, and an indicator or study in MC can be calculated based upon that second data point. I learned this from a poster on the MC board just a couple days ago. And, from what you shared, there can be more than just a second a data series (more than two).

To calculate the McClellan Oscillator, the advancers and decliners are needed (2 data series) to generate that study. I get an error when I attempt to add this study. I'm pretty sure that OEC does not provide this information...
