I will try to post here my experience in trying to get started with MC and automated trading in general.
So far I have just downloaded MC7, I am trying to find a few years of minute of FX data which can be imported inside MC7 and the only thing that was free I could find was the data from ForexTester.
For the background, I am working in an IB and just wanted to try this as an experiment. Wanted to create a blog, but saw that this forums allows people to create trading journal which is great because other people can question and challenge my ideas.
Next steps:
- Setup MC7 with data and a basic strategy like a Donchian system
- Setup a system based on trend following
- Setup a system based on patterns
- Optimize money management
- Forward testing (3/6 months)
- Go live hopefully !
Does anybody know if the data from ForexTester is any good ?
