Hey all...

I am in the market for a dual-wan router with loadbalancing...nothing to complicated...looking to manage 2 flaky ISP connections cable 30/5 and fixed wireless 12/1.5...anyone have a recommendation or advice?

I do not want to go the pfsense route, just looking for a plug/play sub-300$ solution....I have seen new as well as some used on ebay...peplink, drayton, cisco, etc

Question...will a load balancing router with QOS sort my data problems?...maybe 2x a day I get a bottleneck caused by a latency blip or packet loss problem...then it has to play catch up...and if it happens during a fast market the data just queues up...blah ....I am not looking for it too combine the bandwidth for faster speeds ....just manage what I have and keep things running smooth...IF POSSIBLE? I have run all the pingplotters, pingtests etc...and my results are decent.

I read a post about someone asking BigMike for some feedback on his router but that was a few years ago....and I think the tech has changed a little since then.

Thanks
B

You might consider a quality Netgear router thats compatible with OpenWRT. From what I understand Netgears own proprietary OS is Linux-based and so compatibility with OpenWRT is very good, but you'll still want to reference the OpenWRT compatibility list.

Thanks for the suggestions!

Actually for the short term i ended up making a 'pfsense' router with an old pc...it was very easy to install/setup but have not really tweaked any of the settings....it seems to be working quite well as i have it but need to look try to optimize it better
