Looking for feedback from any users with direct experience of Bill Duryea's IOAMT - Institute of Auction Market Theory - products and services (https://www.ioamt.com) so I can see if he is the type of educator I'd like to invite to do a futures.io (formerly BMT) webinar.
If you have direct experience with him, good or bad, please share.
i'd pass. Checked him out a while back. He miraculously gets filled on the bid and ask on the ES. Scalps for 4 ticks most of the time, and trades on the wrong side of the market. Bad trades get erased. No DOM, no track record.
I´d pass, too. He sounds like a angry 90 years old man on crack. When I did the trial and he had some losers in a row he suddenly switched to an impulsive scalping to make his money back. Very confusing and (just guessing) not very healthy for one´s account.
To get an impression of AMT I would recommend Tom Alexander instead.
I spent some time there myself a couple years ago I guess. I am a bit surprised that he's not getting good reviews here. In real time in his chat room some trades do happen to quick to follow him on but that happens in any chat environment. What impressed me was his abilty to work his way back from a losing trade, quite often I would see him reverse a posistion and so forth. In his pre market analysis he would identify areas to initiate trades from and so on as a lot of us do so there weren't a lot of surprises for me. I guess the point is that I believe he is very good at seeing what's going on but some times he might get caught up in the chop trading in the middle of a range. If this thread is about his chat/trade/ room only I would say it's ok. If you want to know if he knows what he is doing and can read footprint stuff and could teach you how to do it I would say he is very good.
I can't attest to his live trading room, only his webinars...which I feel he is getting a bad rap for here because of his presentation style, he is an older gentleman with a bit of a dry tone that can put you to sleep. However, I am on my 3rd video and these are the most complete and informationally dense videos I have viewed on volume profile, he offers support on every concept often reviewing actually studies or reports as evidence. I have already watched all of FT71s webinars, L2ST among several others, but the depth of my understanding on these concepts have increased greatly since watching his lectures. If he updated his website so that it was more automated in the delivery of purchased content, didn't look like a 10 year old geocities site (he has been around that long) and would incorporate more learning styles into his presentation, im sure he'd gain a lot of popularity.
Surprised as well at the couple of negative reviews, but everyone is entitled to their opinion. That's what makes a market right? When you're a newbie looking for trader education it so easy to search off the mark because you don't know—what you don't know—and there is so much really good snake oil being sold out there. I initially checked out IOAMT for a few months, and then cancelled to investigate other market profile chat rooms. I went back to Bill's Chat and stuck with it the second time. I realized as I got a clearer understanding of his method that what he was teaching was the real deal. It's not a system, it's a method and I recommend it highly. Dr. Brett recommended him, and that's one of the best endorsements you can get, because he's definitely the real deal. Bill's chat has been inactive for several months now as he is retooling his offering. He uses a footprint chart, sceeto, and market profile principles mainly. He includes a few indicators as well (hull). But a lot of his method is understanding the market's profile and the psych that created it, and then trading with the volume at price—the reading of the tape. You hear a lot about tape-reading but it's so hard to find good teaching on it. Mainly because it's something you have to observe in real time, you can't ONLY understand it by reviewing a static chart. Attend a one day seminar? Forget it. It takes daily real time observations of the tapes nuances and patterns to get it and Bill's great at explaining the nuances of it—as it's happening. Seeing the nuances makes all the difference. It's interesting, once the lightbulb goes off and and you see how the price action works, you understand why no successful trader really wants to teach you, because trading is fairly simple—if you can first navigate, understand and survive your way through the complexity of it.
His site no longer seems to be up.
Does anyone have updates? I'm interested in furthering my AMT development.
I looked at his twitter and it says LV,NV.
