Alert popup question in multimonitor setup

Hi All

In a dual monitor set up, or virtual desktop environment, when the alert window pops up, it always pops up in the active monitor/virtual desktop. Then when I try to click the alert window, in often buries itself underneath the active window in the active application, interrupting my workflow as well as my work. So it has to be unearthed, and then dragged back to the virtual desktop where the main MT4 charts are located. If a few short term charts are open, the process gets very wasteful of time.

Rather than having a separate computer or whole VM just to run MT4, is there a way of setting the MT4 client so that the alert window only pops up over the main MT4 chart, irrespective of whether the MT4 window is the active one or not ?

Perhaps there is another more effective workaround that people are using ?

Thanks v much

It is unclear if your problem is a software one with the platform (MetaTrader), or if it is a virtualization problem with the VM or using remote desktop, unity, or whatever you are using to connect to it.

Thanks for the input Mike - I'll attempt to clarify !

With MT4, when an alert window pops up, it pops up over the 'active' window. So in a single monitor setup, if I am working on Wordpad for example, with the main MT4 window minimized or behind Wordpad, then the alert box pops up in front of Wordpad, and the alert box becomes the new 'active' window. This is fine.

But in a dual monitor setup, if I have MT4 open all the time on one monitor and use the other monitor for my other work, I would prefer to have the alert window pop up in front of the window with MT4 on it. Then I can move my mouse pointer over to the MT4 monitor and kill the alert after I have read it.

I thought that one workaround might be to run MT4 inside a guest virtual machine under VMWare etc, but I am sure there is a better solution out there.

It is possible that what I am looking for could be or even should be achieved directly within Windows itself (W7), but I am not too sure. Hope that clarifies the question. Or maybe others with some more experience have some better 'alert handling' workflow that I could adopt ? (especially when working on multiple apps)

Thanks !

I know of no solution, sorry. Closest thing I could think of would be to contact the author of Display Fusion, and describe your problem. He might be able to help you for a fee, or can make a recommendation.

Did you try to drag it over to the other screen and close it there....the next time it pops up it might be where it was last closed...just a thought, works that way with some stuff
