This could be an answer:

As well, you can ask if there is somebody in this forum who can program into MT 4.

Thanks. I have seen these threads before. They are directed to NT7. As for the link you sent me, I have tried to download these indicators before and they are for sale, not free,,, if you install them, you get "Expired" msg.

I am hoping someone can code this indicator for MT4.

My bad. Didn't realise they were the same. I just looked up the indicator on google and went to a random website. I have deleted the links.

IMHO there are no useable or proper VSA related indicators for MT4, except for the commercial package that TradeGuider is offerring. And, IMO at $1200 (or whatever the current price is) they are not worth it, since, when compared to the TG charting program, it is missing many features. And don't get me wrong, the TG product is not worth it either. There are a few VSA labelled MT4 indies over at FF (and there's one expired one that can be 'worked' around) but frankly they are not very good. Don't take this as a promo, but the Smart Pip package at $349 (uses MT4) strikes me as a better deal.

Both TG and the addons now available for most every platform are good for learning to recognize and use VSA as part of your trading, but they are expensive. But, one can reach that level of proficiency with studying and reading of Master The Markets.

VPA has not been ported to MT4 and isn't likely to be. It might be a more feasible option to look into the pricing for a dataplan to use it with AmiPro, or, use NinjaTrader 7 (isn't it free now?) with a broker like MBT who supports and provides data to NT7.

Beljevina, Why do you say that Tradeguider is not worth the money? I realise you have a level of expertise in VSA having read your posts on FF, but for newbies without the required knowledge, I think tradeguider may be worth the expense. Just my 2 cents. And no, I do not have their software, as I have studied VSA enough (and read MTM 5 times) to utilize the Better Volume indicator to my advantage.

Hi Dudley, just to be upfront, I have never owned the product. I have used it, for brief time periods. I didn't find it particularly helpful. In fact, when you factor in the fact that as a charting package it is grossly lacking of most of the basic features that say a NinjaTrader or other top-tier package has, it becomes a negative and hindrance to personal trading, to maintain and run 2 or 3 software packages on your PC at one time IMHO.

But more importantly, pretty much every TG owner that I have spoken to has said that owning the software did not help them much, if any at all: it really comes down to the 'feature' of being able to click on the triangle to splash up the text on what the bar+volume might indicate is going on. (And maybe the scanner) BUT, it is still up to you to put it into the context of other chart timeframes, not to mention apply basic S&R, fibs, trendlines, or whatever other additional trading techniques one might use. Not to mention, you have to subscribe to a separate datafeed for TG, while, most futures brokers offer decent trading feeds as part of their service, but alas you cannot use it in TG.

TG does indeed offer lots of educational resources, and, the fresh & newer ones might be where value for the money can be found; I'm not sure how they charge for that currently - it seems to be changing every few weeks. But, Tom Williams is aging quickly, beyond retirement, and I sense there is a void over at TG, where decent fresh and new talent is not materializing. Of late, Gavin is parading around some new traders (female) with some fairly distasteful marketing, that I also know is turning off many existing/past customers. Running the business is not easy, since, it needs 'newbies' to keep it going, or, taking past customers to the next level, but how to do that is a bit of a holy grail of it's own.

In brief, I think the large amount of VSA educational material out there is quite usable IMO. I think their VSA club is still available (although not sure of pricing and connection to the software). Perhaps even giving their trading room a spin is worth it, for the educational content. Plus, if you look around, it's not hard to find a TG customer selling their software; mind you, TG v5 is supposed to be coming out, so any upgrade path and associated cost should be explored.

(I will also add that I think most VSA traders use a very small subset of moves or techniques as part of their day to day trading - when one can perfect those or create good risk to reward scenarios - my sense is that we as people don't often continue refining other VSA techniques. I really just focus on upthrusts, shakeouts, NS, & ND - that and the thousands of hours of screen time have led me to a morphed and learned way of trading that works for me, but probably would not work for anyone else. )
