Hello guys,

Been browsing around futures.io (formerly BMT) for a while now, decided to join in the discussions only now.

I'm from Singapore, day trading the CL and GC on NT7. Recently moved from MBTrading to AMPFutures with CQG.

Still a part time trader, hopefully go full time at the end of my employment contract.

Anyone from Singapore? Wanna compare our trade execution and data latency.

Thanks!

how do i check?

Can't ping mbtrading.com as thats not their server.Contacted them to get the direct server address they said it is not available.

Anyway, just switched to AMPfutures with CQG, i've got to say, it performs extremely fast.

You can do a generic test to Chicago using this tool:

Pingtest.net - The Global Broadband Quality Test

From a distant location like Singapore, it will give you an accurate picture (more or less) without having the exact IP of your gateway server at your broker.

thanks mike.

I got a ping of 300ms.

OK, that is quite terrible lol

Anyone inside North America probably has a ping of less than 75ms, anyone near a major metropolitan area probably has a ping of less than 50ms.

Of course, anyone in Chicago probably has a ping of less than 10ms. And if you are like me, and rent a VPS at 350 Cermak, then you have a ping of less than 1ms to your broker's gateway server

Larger firms like CQG, TradingTechnologies, and IB have servers in Europe to help minimize the latency. You might put emphasis on selecting a broker that has a European gateway server you can connect to.

Mike,

I am a discretionary trader. Would renting a VPS make any difference?

Better to use a VPS thread which has covered this already, do a search for VPS.

Short answer: it depends.
