There's a reason the Israelis took the Golan Heights in the first place. The idiot Syrians couldn't or wouldn't stop their citizens and forces from using mortars and artillery from an elevated position to reign down ordnance on Israeli property. It had been established as a de-militarized zone. So the Israelis fixed the problem by taking the land to manage themselves. Problem solved...no more Syrian whackos launching mortar attacks on Israeli property. Syrians have whined like a mule ever since.
