I was hoping to have this data as part of workspace I'm creating within MultiCharts, but my data provider does not offer these. If anyone has these indexes, please share the data source.

Here's a bit on the BDI:

Index:Baltic Dry Index - BDI (BALDRY))

Thank you.

It is published by the Baltic Exchange, but you need to subscribe to receive the data:

Capital Link Shipping | Baltic Exchange (Baltic Dry Index: BDI) Historical Data

If you just want to see the daily data, there is Korean website, which publishes the BDI.

The only way to get that data into MultiCharts might be a subscription with Bloomberg.

BALTIC DRY INDEX (BDIY:IND) Index Performance - Bloomberg

Fat Tails - Thank you.

I've been seeing this data through stockcharts.com and I did indeed find it on Bloomberg too. Any idea as to what their data would cost? Think IB might have the BDI or BDIY? I've been meaning to check, but have not had the time...

I'm basically trying to create an MC workspace dedicated to macro analysis, for lack of a better descriptive. Unless I've missed, might there be such a thread already? One that discusses possible leading indicators of the overall mkt...

I have an account with IB, and I did not find the Baltic Dry Index.

I have had this data from somewhere other than BBG, so there is still hope.

But, tbh, EOD is perfectly fine. I mean you don't need to know the data realtime if you don't know where the capesize are and the suezmax are (I mean the actual ships, not the rates), or what the rates are and the oil contango, then weekly is fine.

There was a period about 2 years ago maybe where the baltic was making alot of headlines, but it's 15 mins of fame have passed for the next decade if you ask me.

I do remember it being the cat's meow a couple years ago alright. That is probably why it made my "list" of macro indicators to consider when I finally build some sort of macro "strategy", which I'm now attempting to do...

I have room for quite a few charts, and would like this to be one, ideally. I suppose I can use something like GNK. The dry ship ETF has pretty anemic volume, unfortunately...

Yes, EOD is fine alright. If you ever happen to remember how you got that data, please do share.
