After just reading the sticky's on Psychology and Money Management, I curious about people's experiences with body work. For the purposes on this thread, the focus is on work where someone else does the work and you are the receiver...but yoga/meditation/tai chi/ qi gong.....those are fine as well.

I've never done rolfing, but am interested in it. I personally will try just about everything once. I personally enjoy the Alexander Technique as far as what I believe helps me the most, but you can't beat an amazing rub down.

I've experiemented with massages on a regular basis and def. notice I feel more relaxed, but it get's quite expensive. I also enjoy teh emotional release from massages. I tend to laugh more than cry, but I've done both.

My logic is the be a "feeler", to learn to be more aware of myself, and to me a good way to learn how to feel is to get intouch with my feelings and increase my ability to feel and understand my body.

What works for you? Anyone been brave enough to do rolfing?

Rolfing...is that anything like jelking?

I don't do either, much too harsh for my liking. When I get a massage, I like it gentle and soothing. Masturbation I like a little rougher, true, but that's besides the point. No need to ask for specifics.

I think anything that gets you relaxed is great and will put you in a good state to trade. However, if you're doing it to get in touch with yourself in order to enhance your trading, I don't believe that will work. The "getting to know yourself" process needed for profitable trading, in my view, is of an entirely different sort. You will have to contemplate, think, ponder, be aware, learn, unlearn, focus, work, expend mental energy, go through mental barriers, break down limiting beliefs and instill new helpful ones, etc., etc.. Massages don't do that for you.

Tran,

Rolfing, according to wiki is:

Rolfing is a registered service mark of a school of soft tissue manipulation founded by Ida Rolf in the 1950s, also called structural integration.
The Rolf Institute of Structural Integration states that Rolfing is a "holistic system of soft tissue manipulation and movement education that organized the whole body in gravity".Claims include that clients stand straighter, gain height, and move better through the correction of soft tissue fixations or improper tonus.

I 100% agree with you. Nothing beats the mental work one has to do to have favor on your side as much as you can and be in the zone. I'm interested in learning how to help me increase my awareness of everything and release emotions my muscles may be holding on to which may not be helping my bottom line,

I find that exercise and philosophy works for me. A fit body is relaxed, and there's no better way to get to know oneself than by using a logical and rational approach. Thesis + Antithesis = Synthesis. Interrogate every part of your consciousness in that manner, and the world will look different.

It also helps to have an understanding of physics and astronomy to put things in perspective.

"Matter flows from place to place, and momentarily comes together to be you"
