I started a thread asking for reviews of Larry Williams current offerings and all I got was people running him down. After searching around a little I can't find one author/guru that doesn't have a tremendous amount of hate following them. So I'm starting this thread to ask who you respect when it comes to trading strategies and trading recommendations.

Who do you follow? (can't be someone who doesn't offer learning materials or regular recommendations)

Edit: I'm not looking for day trading info. We are all hedgers and aspiring swing traders with interests in trades that last a day or two up to months.

I got burned by letting a guru trade my money, after I complained about the loss he introduced me to a second guru. So what did I do? I let the second guru traded my money away again, after three consecutive losses this is exact words he said 'this never happen before' hmm, just my luck! This is what I learned for me, for myself, never ever follow anybody. If I want to waste my money i am quite qualify to do it myself.

Thanks for the suggestions. I have a few older friends that introduced me to the markets many years ago through Ken Roberts, Larry Williams, Welles Wilder, and a few others. They were all interesting reads. These same friends have been asking if I have ran across anybody new in the game of "teaching" trading methods. The only one that I have run across is Michael Covel. I haven't actually read his work but I listened to one of his podcasts. His speaking style is similar to a baptist preacher reading from the bible and it kinda turned me off.

I understand where you are coming from. What would be your advice to people wanting to learn? They have to start somewhere. It seems that authors that don't give trading recommendations get more respect than the ones that do.

Does anyone have any book suggestions for learning other facets like money management and risk management?

just this learn to trade take time, time to read, time to stare at a chart, time to learn what you really want. We had a very active member figured out he really wanted to be a baker not a trader.

In high-school I asked someone if they would teach me to play guitar. It was this guy who was always carrying one around, although I had never heard him play it. He told me to get a guitar and start playing, that nobody could teach me but myself. So I bought a guitar and "played with it" for two years when I decided I needed a teacher. I learned more about the guitar and music in general in my first lesson than I had learned on my own during the previous two years. It wasn't from lack of effort it was from lack of direction. What I learned from the experience is that people who can't do something themselves never offer to teach you to do it (genius I know). I appreciate every trader that has made an effort to teach their methods. Even Ken Roberts and Larry Williams. It frustrates me when people say you just have to figure out you own way. Not true

LOL MLM, you beat me to it... check mine out if you want to see how to kill it on sim and then struggle live... but the advice given here thus far is sound.

@ harryguy, find a method/style/tool, something that really clicks and helps you make sense of the market, roll with it and work it up from there. There's a wealth of info and people willing to help right here at FIO, I'd say just about everything you need is contained within. I'm not yet consistently profitable but pretty close, and the $100 for Elite membership is all I have ever spent on education.
