Hi Luke,
I'm looking for alternatives to TradeStation's futures data feed. In theory, OwnData looks like it could allow me to keep running things off TradeStation while using better quality data feed. So far, I have found very few online comments about users' experience with OwnData. What version of TradeStation did you use it with? Did you experience any data interruption issues (lag, freeze ups etc.)? Overall, how satisfied were you with OwnData? Thanks.
I think I have tried it too short to answer your question. Anyway I tried it with Tradestation 8.7 running IQfeed.
In my little experience I didn't saw data freeze, but don't know about lag, I did not compare it with others platforms.
Anyway it seems to me that owndata uses the same quote manager as multicharts, so I think on futures.io (formerly BMT) there are others with much more experience than me on both that may could reply to your issues.
I have used OnDemand Server from Rt Software for my TradeStation 2000i software for years. It is flawless and the support is superb. I have it on my desktop and laptop. eSignal is the data provider. Regards, Michael

Has anyone tried to set up Tradestation with owndata using zenfire. I cant seem to get data for any symbols. The zenfire feed says it is active and online. I am using ES 09-10 as the symbol.
Ah, u mean from QouteManager, I tough from tradestation chart.
So try to do it automatically go to Symbol-> Add Symbol -> From Data Source -> Zen-Fire, on Symbol type * and on Exchange select CME then click Lookup and then select your symbol.
Luke.
Take your Pips, go out and Live.
Luke.

Thanks for all the help, I tried that also. When I get to from data source, the arrow is there, but no list will populate, that is what made to try the manual entry.

Zen Fire has no historical data. Some other intermediary service providers like NinjaTrader and now MultiCharts are providing historical data for their clients.
Nice to hear from you can connect OwnData2.7+Zen-fire to TradeStation. How to connect? Is there a special step?
For now, i installed OwnData2.7, and TradeStation 8.7.
I have got owndata 2.7 runned, it is picking data from Zen-Fire.
But in TradeStation 8.7, After formatting Symbol to "ZF:ESU0", the TradeStation 8.7 just showed "waiting for data". I don't know if there are other steps need to do. Thanks in advance.
How I have to configure tradestation to works with Owndata? I have Owndata conected to ZENFIRE but open tradestation, and follow the instructions, nothing.I think that I didn´t any step.
Thank you for your help. The video is very helpful. Now i can connect OwnData+Zenfire to TradeStation.
One thing need to mention that the video has one error, i try to set ESU0's exchange to GLOBEX, but failed. So i set ESU0's exchange to CME successfully.
Yes, Zen-fire doesn't provide historical data. The bars listed in TradeStation8 are limited. Zen-fire and TradeStation isn't a good combination.
I found one interesting thing, Zen-fire also provides real-time "Open Interest" data. Please see the attachment. Does anyone know how to show "Open Interest" in NinjaTrader?
On the other hand, IB provides historical data back fill. Maybe IB and TradeStation is a good combination.
I am trying to connect Tradestation 8.6 with e Signal datafeed using Owndata 2.7.
I am able to get e Signal data in to Owndata.
Now the question is do I need to save i.e. export this data as ASCII file. Or How Can I get this data in to Trade Station. The video link in this thread is not working.
Also I am unable find out Format Symbol menu in Trade Station.
Actually my problem turned out to be very simple: I just had to install OwnData >after< TS 8.7, so the DLLs were installed correctly. Then I fire up IB's Trader Workstation, then TS 8.7 (work offline) and it magically all works.
Finding the data feeds for Interactive Brokers, and using the correct symbol prefix (e.g. IB:ESM1) also works just fine.
Hoping for some help. I did reinstall Owndata and I keep getting the same message in attached png. Hopefully someone out there has experienced the same problem and found a fix. I am using ZenFire, Owndata 2.7 and TS 8.7 in offline.
Make sure you use for example ESM1 for es june 2011 as it is case sensitive in the quote manager.
Still trying to get TS 8.7 in offline and Owndata to work. If anyone can provide info that would be great. I Have tried in offline entering ZF:ESM1 but keeps coming up wrong signal.
Hi Lachiner - I'm on Interactive Brokers so I'm not familiar with ZF's setup.
For my data to show up, I need to launch IB's Trader Workstation (which also launches OwnData) THEN TS 8.7 in offline.
The Trader Workstation needs to accept the incoming API connection from OwnData, otherwise I get similar sort of error message.
If you're getting a symbol list by just entering the root "ES" then it sounds like its connecting fine....
Has anyone been able to use Owndata 2.7 on win7 64bit and connect to Tradestation 8.6 correctly?
My Ts8.6 does not recognize Owndata running in the background thus symbols are not recongnized although Owndata does refresh symbols . I think the issue is with competability to Win7 64 but I am not sure.
I'm having the same problem trying to connect between TS 8.7 + owndata 2.7.
my feed source is barcharts.com.
owndata can and connecting barcharts feed but can't transfer data from
it directly to TS 8.7.
hope someone here would help.
thanks.
