Hi guys,
It is my pleasure to welcome VeloxPro for a futures.io (formerly BMT) webinar presentation on Trading Order Flow and a demo of their product (as a futures.io (formerly BMT) site sponsor). The webinar will be Wednesday, February 5th @ 4:30 PM Eastern US.
The presenters in the webinar are Tsachi Galanos, Eyal Aviv and Sergey Bondarchuk.
Major topics include:
- The importance and use of the order book
- An overview of the BookMap product and its operation
- Differences and Advantages of BookMap compared with traditional and existing order book tools
- Identifying trade patterns and setups with BookMap
VeloxPro is a boutique financial technology company from Israel. Their core competency is in the areas of mathematics, electrical engineering and computer science. VeloxPro is involved in the development of trading algorithms and market analysis tools.
Their BookMap product is the result of a need for a tool that would help them analyse one of their previous high frequency trading strategies. During the development of BookMap they realized that many traders could potentially benefit from the added market visibility it provides and therefore decided to make it public.
I've looked at the software and be thrilled. It's the best visualisation of order book data i've seen so far. I think the software (+ it's copycats) will have a great future. You can explain order book patterns 1000 times - but a picture says a lot more with less efforts. I'm looking forward to join the webinar.

Hi Paps,
BookMap currently supports IB TWS and TT XTrader Pro (currently only available for beta testers). We will release a new BookMap version in couple of weeks which will support NinjaTrader. We plan to gradually add additional platforms.
BookMap comes in 2 operational modes: live and replay. Both are part of the installation kit and the replay mode is free for use and is platform independent. It only plays pre-recorded data feeds which we will start posting regularly on our website starting from next week. The data files are simply created from live BookMap sessions and any user that has access to the live mode can create such files on his own for subsequent use and/or sharing.

@VeloxPro thnx. Yes have downloaded the free version. Seems interesting & will check out the webinar. Hope the standalone version is also released as a subscription w/o any platform overhead. Am not really a Ninja trader..or IB/XX. Mainly use Tradestation....so will not mind a standalone to keep this on for analysis after understanding what are the true capabilities of the s/w.
Will be real interested in sample feeds which you currently have & will post. Especially during large trend days....20pts and more.....they have certain pre-mrkt & post market characteristics.....which can be determined if a sample consists of 12hrs pre/post mrkt data.

We can record such length of data but keep in mind that depth data is more relevant for short term price action. Therefore I don't think that looking back more than 30-60 min on a single chart view would add much value.

Hi again Paps,
BookMap supports any instrument that has market depth data. So options and stocks are supported provided that the user is subscribed to the relevant depth data feeds. As an example, attached are BookMap screenshots for TRIP (Tripadvisor Inc) and FB (Facebook Inc).

Hi Everyone,
Thank you all for joining the webinar today and for your interest in BookMap.
Attached is a zip file with the data we used in today's demonstration. We will start adding data files regularly on our own forum (Forums | Bookmap). We welcome you to post any questions or suggestions regarding BookMap on our forum or this thread.

Hi everyone,
We plan to launch our new BookMap release for NinjaTrader within the next two weeks. We are looking for interested beta testers who are using NinjaTrader and would like to receive an early release of BookMap for NinjaTrader. Each beta tester will get a free BookMap license for 45 days. If you are interested in taking part in our beta testing, please send us an email to info@veloxpro.com titled "BookMap / NinjaTrader Beta Testing". We would be interested to get your details and trading experience with the NinjaTrader platform. As soon as we complete our internal testing phase we will send you a download link for the software with a free 45 day license.
@VeloxPro Tsachi, Eyal and Sergey thnx for sharing your insights. Was not present during the live session. Watched it offline.
Had few questions. I know you mentioned depth for 30/60mins before in a previous post. Well my questions do revolve around short time frames...& longer timeframes too. Have a few general questions too.
Well i guess you made it clear it is a decision making tool in conjunction with other tools/aids/market data someone already uses. You also shared screen shots. I think it will be great to get some videos such that folks understand the thought process during live markets. I personally would love to see some videos of data coming when
a)EU opens
b) 1 Hour before US opens
c) When US closes
d) data coming in from pre market till next day open when we have massive 20-30 pt moves and more.
(Well reason for asking this...though you talk about depth for 30/60mins....this is where we get to see how they work thru current stops & depth before regaining move or continue move in the direction of trend). <<Well this is just my thought.
General questions:-
a)Is this going to be available in tradestation. I am tired of other standalone tools requiring a separate data feed or turning on NT for it
b) If no plan for Tradestation...you did mention Standalone platform. Can the need of separate data be avoided.
b) Is there a way such that the TIME shown can be quickly offset to show PST/EST....whichever timeframe user is in.
c) Is there a way to show the Solid Whites which you mention as big orders. If they were a BUY or a Sell. The way i understand price & market movement. HFT's cannot really be seen in normal platforms which are only time based as there is no way to split up large nos of trades in 1min candles for ex. They can be however spotted by their speed and burst of execution...in terms of Speed of trades/Tape speed. They are seen at all times and precedes price movements whether it is MM or otherwise Algo driven or fund driven. At times w/o aid of non-correlated tools it may not be possible to understand if it was a buy or sell. I do see them in trading at all turning points and at/before market opens. I however am not able to gauge if they may be buy or sells. It will be interesting to glean from BookMap if they are buy or sells. Hence the ability to get the whites print out if buy/sell orders will help. Since the Whites are actual executed Orders & not resting orders.
After giving BookMap a try on X_TRADER,i have found it to be a solid tool not only for learning about market dynamics but its ease of use.
There are however some weak points, well not so much weak, but more things that take the edge off from it really being ridiculously intuitive for an active scalper.
I will be contacting the guys and just letting them know how i got on.
I have attached a BookMap chart which shows a clear squeeze as sellers get caught loading up on the lows in the fdax traded on the EUREX.
This was taken from a market reply, but absolutely could have been taken real-time when the opportunity arose.
No point me saying too much, just take a look at the pic.

Here is a BookMap chart of the fgbl.
You don't want to be shorting this 'grinding' long market,do you?
No sellers on top and plenty of volume underneath.
Say no more.

@switchtrading I just viewed the webinar and thought this looks very promising. In your first example what are you seeing that tells you the shorts were squeezed? I guess I having a little trouble interpreting the shades of gray other than understanding the white means larger size. And have you still been using this bookmap? How's it going? Thanks,
Basically if you look to the far right of the graphic,I have yellow boxes.
The 'green' stack indicates sellers hitting the bid.So you can see that the sellers were quite aggressive in their short positioning as price began to 'rollover'.
I knew their buy stops got run above 91 by the way price traded through that level. It was very whispy and fast paced, which is standard to see on a run of stops.
With regards whether I'm still using it,not at the moment.I am transitioning to jigsaw tools.
BookMap is a very nice tool though and gives transparency to the market. You really see what's going on.
If you find numbers hard to process realtime then BookMap helps as its graphic based.
Its also offered through IB and they are working to offer Ninja currently.
Just give it a trial and see if you like it.
If you have any more Q's just let me know.
Sorry for any mistakes here,I'm sending this through via my Nexus 4 phone, highly NOT recommended lol.
Take it easy.
Rgds
Got it; that makes sense. We're on the same boat as I am transitioning to jigsaw tools as well. I saw this webinar and just started listening and I kept thinking this might be a great tool to supplement the jigsaw tools. Another way to see the same information more visually. I will have to give it a shot after I transition to Jigsaw tools. One thing at a time. Maybe we can come back to this later on and collaborate since this tool is so new and not much info out there on how to best use it.
Take care and try the Samsung Galaxy S5 which should be out in April if you're in the market for a new phone.
Sure,sounds good.
And thanks for the heads up on the Galaxy.
I'm an android user so i'll give Samsung a go next time around.
I have found my Nexus battery life to be the real downer.Just has no staying power lol
It is well priced though.
Take care.

Hi everyone,
We are happy to announce the release of BookMap for NinjaTrader!
This new BookMap version is available for download at our website.
For those of you who have already experimented with BookMap, here are some of the additional feature / fixes included in this new release:
Ability to import BookMap to NinjaTrader either as an Indicator or as a Strategy. This allows the use of BookMap for viewing and analysis purposes only.
Fixing of a bug that cause frequent crashes of few instruments, which was obviously frustrating to some of you.
Reducing CPU load, especially in full zoom-out view
Using color gradient to distinguish between executions initiated by buyers or sellers.
Ability to reset the volume bars accumulation. This can be done either manually or automatically at a preset frequency, by right clicking your mouse while hovering over the volume bars area.
Marking the currently transmitted book depth with thin lines over the column representing that current book size (first column on the right side of the chart). These markings allows the trader to distinguish between actual book size and cashed book size stored by BookMap.
Zoom-in up to 5 seconds.
We hope you will enjoy BookMap. We would like to keep an dialogue with all BookMap users and we welcome any of your future comments, either here on the forum or on the BookMap forum.
