Yes, iron condors are very susceptible to not readily apparent factors than just visual price. Hardly risk-free. Plus the substantial amount of overhead required of risk capital and multiple option legs composing the IC which are always hard to close due to the market makers.
Looking at the photos of the founders. They look like burnt-out traders who lost a bundle. Selling courses for tuition I'd agree is a "strategy that produced a profit REGARDLESS OF WHETHER THE MARKET MOVED UP OR DOWN".
