Maybe you should trade with an edge, but not with tradingwithanedge.

There are probably better indicators here on the forum, and this applies to trading advice as well.

I have just watched the video though, and did not get the impression that it is a fully fledged trading method that can be learned.

Why don't you upgrade to NinjaTrader 7?

A version of the MACDBBLines for NT 6.5 is already available in the download section.

If you are trading any instrument on the CME, you need to switch to NT7 by 06/03/20011. Here is a link detailing the changes. Your profile indicates you trade the ES, so this would apply to trading the ES. NinjaTrader Advisory 1 Hope this helps

If some of you indicators don't work with NT7, you need to upgrade them to NT7. NT 6.5 is outdated and should no longer be used.

Also @revtrader pointed out, you will not be able to trade futures live with NT 6.5 in a few weeks, as NT 6.5 does not comply with the new CME standards.

Sorry if there was a previous thread on this as i couldnt find it but anyone have any experience with Tradingwithanedge.com?

I've checked him out as well. His name is Earl Patterson. The videos appear to have something, but there does not seem to be a concrete method for entry and exit. I've viewed alomst all of the videos and while enticing, there is just not enough there to convince me to drop $5800. The lines that are marked have some meaning as to where the market will break or where it will be pushed to and from. He claims these lines are where will the moves will start and end and only trades around key times of the day, 10am, & 2pm central.

I sent him an email and he responded promptly. But get this, his response was something along the lines of "I'll send you more information this afternoon because I'm heading to the beach now." Sure you are. He even sent a few recent screen shots of the days moves. But he writes like a third grader and if you listen to him speak on the videos, you'd swear he just took a bong hit. Send him an email and check out his response. Ok fine, so he's not a maketer or salesman, but you'd think from his writing that he's not even from this country...and when you hear him speak he sounds like a butthole surfer dude. I wouldn't be too sure that he was the one who figured out where to mark the lines, almost as if he found someone to give him these and he just found a way to code them into Ninja.

A few videos had interviews of some of his students; watch and listen to a few of these, they are the Ninja webinar sessions. My intent is not to bash the guy or his method. I'm just giving my review and opinion from what I have gathered thus far.

The only way I would be convinced of this is if I could see this in action for a week or two, from someone I trust and not some recorded testimonial.

Good luck if you proceed.

Best,

Gage

Probably the same way everyone else does--confluence with previous s/r, fibs, volume profile, etc. .. nothing magical, and the hard part about trading is not "coming up with the lines" .. it's what to do in response to that information... determining direction, timing entry with that direction, exiting the position, management of the position (scale in, out, AIAO, etc.) ..

I have a very similar code i had made for me on TOS...Richard, the master programmer made it for me a few years ago in like 10 minutes...it's just a triple keltner channel

I'd like to have it on MT4 and NinjaTrader

Code
declare weak_volume_dependency;
input displace = 0;
input displace2 = 0;
input displace3 = 0;
input factor = 1.75;
input factor2 = 2.5;
input factor3 = 4;
input length = 45;
input price = close;
def shift = factor * AvgTrueRange(high, close, low, length);
def shift2 = factor2 * AvgTrueRange(high, close, low, length);
def shift3 = factor3 * AvgTrueRange(high, close, low, length);
def average = ExpAverage(price, length);
plot Avg = average[-displace];
Avg.SetDefaultColor(GetColor(7));
plot Upper_Band = average[-displace] + shift[-displace];
Upper_Band.SetDefaultColor(GetColor(7));
plot Lower_Band = average[-displace] - shift[-displace];
Lower_Band.SetDefaultColor(GetColor(7));
plot Upper_Band2 = average[-displace] + shift2[-displace];
Upper_Band2.SetDefaultColor(GetColor(7));
plot Lower_Band2 = average[-displace] - shift2[-displace];
Lower_Band2.SetDefaultColor(GetColor(7));
plot Upper_Band3 = average[-displace] + shift3[-displace];
Upper_Band3.SetDefaultColor(GetColor(7));
plot Lower_Band3 = average[-displace] - shift3[-displace];
Lower_Band3.SetDefaultColor(GetColor(7));

You hit the nail right on the head "coming up with the lines is the easy part". . . and so what do you do with those lines? I don't know and the person behind trading with an edge can not tell you either. What he will tell you is that you typically go for 3 to 5 points off the key line. Well, the key line prints before the open of the day session but close enough to it anyway and at current price levels and of course you usually get at least 3 points of movement off the open even on a slow day. There was some talk of a trading room and training but I was not invited into any room nor did I receive training beyond his initial 2-3 minute discussion of what to do with the software. The most valuable point from that 2-3 minute discussion is listed above. Also, you are instructed to set your PC clock to Eastern time Zone to make the lines print "correctly". The 2 BBL (Bull / Bear Line) lines that print each day do look like they have some significance at times but again, I don't know how to trade them. The most concrete thing I can say about this is that so far, I feel I was a fool for buying it.
