ok, i'm still trying to get to the bottom of this.

i have backtested a bunch, and mostly what I see are charts like this (see attached).

can you verify that these entries are correct?

What happens if you try increasing the timeframe and perhaps limiting the trade time.

doesn't help.

my conclusion: this strategy, as stated, doesn't work.

maybe there's something he's not telling us?

That one is a donational indicator. You can use the FREE TRO_HL5. Set the period input to D1.

Looks like you are shorting on a rising BREAK OUT!!

I do not know the stats of the instrument you are trading. If it at the extreme of it's daily range, it may be time to short. Until then, it is breaking out.
