no buttons today .. just wanted to see if I could demonstrate discipline and trade "from the hip" .. probably a good day for that because it was a pretty simple day .. got to my profit target and shut it down .. off to enjoy my day

Today was back and forth, I had some rough patches, but I was able to maintain some discipline and kept my emotions in check. I didn't get my daily goal, but I'm happy with todays result.
Things I did well:
- walked away twice when I got triggered
- kept reminding myself not to let my emotions get the best of me,
- i traded during my allowed time slot
- kept my losses small
Bad:
- I need to trust myself and my trade , sometimes it doesn't go my way... its okay. I already factored that in, i just need to stay the course
- I flinched, some trade I cut, some I didn't .. I kept thinking about the past trade while I was in my current trade.
- I kept thinking about P/L
- I need a better way of deciding when to add more or just get rid of it entirely. Stick to just one size.
- a lot of trades against my 60ema,
traded one contract .. got 72 ticks .. 72 ticks seem to be about 50% more than many of the "expert" traders on YouTube .. going to stop chasing dollars and switch my daily goals from currency to ticks .. once I get the ticks to be very consistent then I can adjust my contracts to achieve the revenue ..

finally resolved an issue with trailing stops in my button strategy .. working as separate procedures my strategy can
.. trail the entry XX ticks
.. trail based on the opening price of the previous bar
.. move to break even after XX ticks profit
now I just need to get them to all work together .. and most of that is related to the instance when the move to breakeven is triggered ..

there was news at 7 AM today so I expected price action to be a bit choppy .. NQ did as expected .. the choppiness can be seen in the wicks of the first 15-minute candle ..
set my trade expectations in preparation for choppy price action .. 12 tick profit targets and evaluate .. 72 ticks and walk away .. I was able to reach my tick goal for the day fairly quickly .. that is 3 days in a row reaching my tick goal AND then walking away .. I feel pretty good about my discipline ..

The last couple of weeks have been pretty good .. account is up over $2000 .. even after this week .. pretty good for retirement income
wasn't able to get this week's final result to a break-even .. this week is red about $500 .. knowing I was green over $500 on Monday and green over $300 on Tues just makes seeing those red days that much worse ..
GREED .. no wonder it is considered a deadly sin

someone on NexusFI has a signature line .. "I never lose .. I earn or I learn" .. yep, sometimes a bad result can be the best teacher .. well this week the NQ taught me a lesson ..
gotta come back next week and do better to demonstrate my skillset and show that I learned

I woke up late yesterday and had the intent of trading only on SIM. Some how my NT8 ended up crashing and I forgot to unclick all of my EVAL. I must of forgotten while I was in the midst of doing some work on the side ... I need to stop splitting my attention, so dumb. Anyways, blew up a few accounts, I thought i was trading sim, so I just "hip firing" with no care in between meetings... and I didn't have max size on my sim.
I didn't trade well today, probably because I was still upset over what happen yesterday. I'm sick and tired of these blown up accounts.. tired of large red days. I just need to tune in on being discipline.
Lets do better next week!
First week was data from my sim trading ... i need to stop sizing up even when I trade sim..
the bad news is that last Mon && Tues were red days ..
the good news is that
.. my trading has been green for the last four days .. and 9 of the 11 days in October have been green .. October is green ..
.. no losses in last four days
.. have shown good discipline for the last four days .. 72 ticks and walked away .. plan is to increase the number of contracts from 1 to 2 when && if the MAE justifies the risk
evaluation of MAE for the last 4 days ..
.. the minimum MAE was 2 ticks
.. the most common MAE (about 25%) is 2 ticks
.. the average is just under 13 ticks
.. over half of the trades had MAE of less than 10 ticks
.. the maximum MAE was 39 ticks .. or $195 ..
evaluating when the trades were placed shows the 39 MAE is associated with a trade taken outside of my normal trading time .. removing that trade from consideration and
.. the average is just over 11 ticks .. or less than $60
.. the maximum MAE was 32 ticks .. or $160 ..
several of the other high MAE numbers occurred during the high volatility of the first 1-5 minutes of the market open ..
these numbers could certainly justify a second contract .. let's see how the rest of Oct goes ..

made some changes to my button strategy .. so much for being a better programmer at 1 AM .. the strategy changes resulted in 4 trades getting canceled almost instantly .. 1 was for a small profit .. 3 were for small losses .. plus 4 commissions .. so I lost about $60 ..
switched gears and started using the strategy for my trade direction suggestion but used Chart Trader for placing trades ..
decided to take extra trades to cover the small losses && the extra commissions ..
OK, so I went a little over .. maybe a little to cover the frustration factor ..
