The mark of a good trader is not how he handles success but failure

Better day today. I certainly met one of my goals...one trade...call it a day!

Here is my trade and my stats. Ready for a nice enjoyable weekend looking at a good trading forum. Anybody know a good one???

So what is different today? I waited...I didn't trade the news (although today was a rocket down day because of the unemployment news)...I watched the market action and I watched my indicators. When things lined up, I went short and rode it out. Good trade!!

Not my best day. I did not do as well as I would have liked, but I traded. And for the most part I followed my strategy. I say 'most part' because I did not let my ATM strategies run. I was trading 'scared money' which I can not do. Had I not intervened, I would have made all three targets. I took a screen shot of the move so I could remember. Scared money should not be trading! Why was it scared money?? I think it's because I was trying to make my stats look good and not look like a loser to the people who visit my posts. That being said, I have to be me.

On a positive note, I learned something about myself and got stronger in my methodology. It's all good!

I have attached my missed opportunity trade and my PnL.

Enjoy
G

Okay...I missed yesterday's journal entry so I need to catch up. I had three losers yesterday. I hit my limit and quit. It was not my best day. Now I have three different days with losing balances. Why is that? Is there a lesson to be learned? Is there a pattern? Each of those days, I was trying to trade...on the road...on my laptop...in a less than desireable time situation. Moral of the story...don't trade on the road. If I'm not home, I don't trade! That's the good thing about sim...learn from your mistakes...FOR FREE!

Now on to today's trades. I made four trades. I was up $600+ on two trades and got greedy. I entered a less than perfect trade and got whacked! My next trade, I took a quick win because price action was being stubborn (trying to trade during the lunch hour!), so I took a few more dollars and called it quits.

Not my best day trading and not my worst. $600 would have been better than $300, but they are both better than a negative...MUCH BETTER!!!

I am still looking to go live on 8/23/10! I truly believe that I can be successful with this metod. Time will tell!!

I put my standard thumbnails here plus the graphs that are part of my spreadsheet.

Nice trading day. I kept my cool and did well. I made two tades and followed my stategy. I am counting an error for myself because I took the first trade right at the open. I think that is less than optimal for my long term success, so I am counting it as an error. I am modifying my spreadsheet and going back to do a serious analysis of the errors I made since I settled on this method. I will share the results when I have compiled the information.

My numbers are still good and I feel good about how things are going. I think the hard part is being slow and consistent in my money management. I feel like I have to make the whole thing in a week. When I think about it, I only NEED $100 a day to survive, $250 would make things nice and $500 a day would be pure delight. I am not a greedy person. I just lack patience. I have a new badge for my trading jacket (attached). It's a funny statement, but it tends to identify my personality. My years as a fighter pilot were not good for my trading psyche.

I have downloaded and am looking at Wicked Renko charts. I am not ready to wholeheartedly switch, but they do add another dimension to my charts. I included that in my trading screen shots below.

Hi Gordo,
I watched the ZelmaVelda visual and liked it very much.
Is it possible, you, kindly, make a NinjaTrader's 6.5 version, please?
All the best.
Barrosco.

Hey there Barrosco
I'm sorry but I will not be able to honor your request. I have made a full transition to NT7 and can't get back into NT6.5. I believe NT7 will be out of Beta soon and writing indicators in a soon to be obsolete version doesn't help me much in my trading so I'm not dedicating any time to NT6.5 versions.
G
