+258.6 ticks. Not an even number due to some slippage. Nice that NT will do that even in sim. Very choppy today so there are a bunch of trades. Testing it out on a very low time frame. It's almost too fast for human reaction but it was fun. Too bad it wasn't live. LOL! Had some draw down during the chop not long after market open. That is a hazard of low time frames. Recovered nicely though. Question is would I handle the draw down live? It tends to mess with the mind. I don't think I would trade this way live. Will stick to 500 tick and above.

Here are the results, nearly 700 bucks in commissions, lol wow!:

Some thoughts for you - you are doing it WRONG! Rather sudden increased intraday volatility is not 'play time' - but for you it is.

Don't fuck around on sim unless you are simulating REAL trading - and then, much like the military trains elite forces - simulate EXACTLY like real live gunfire conditions.

Don't create bad habits in sim for 'fun' - because down the road you might be risking thousands per trade w/multi-contracts.

Act like a man and be congruent.

It's okay if you don't really understand the 'long grift' that is trading - you did forex for several years, no? But to LIVE and invest and save for retirement as an independent trader - you simply must NAIL down an approach that will SERVE you going forward for many years on your instrument(s) of choice in low/normal/high-volatility environments.

You are still all over the place; the journal is entertaining so I am entertained.

You have a skill set, @this point you should have a few tried and true setups (from initial entry/trade management/stops/profit exits) and be doing the same thing day after day after day.

In my humble experience 99.99% of traders over 10-20 years that try and continually 'modify' their approach when market conditions dynamically change are doomed.

But hey, what do I know? I do know that when you are risking thousands of dollars per trade (down the road) you simply must have iron-will discipline and know every step of your PROCESS from before/during/after/conclusion of each trade or the market will eventually self correct your behavior.

Just a few days ago you wrote that this journal was something you weren't really into - now that this week finally picked up some movement (vs the 2 weeks following Labor Day week of chop/somewhat quiet conditions) you are all into the journal again.

Trading for a career is best suited for a non-emotional analytical & methodical mathematical/statistical type of person.

Your continual 'optimization' is a circular route that will continue to overload your brain unless you incrementally work on making your trading method more logic and rule-based going forward.

Understanding that NO method wins everyday (especially w/trend pullback methods). However, you do see that several days per month a trend breakout w/pullback and w/trend pullback method will usually make your entire month, especially in 'lots of tick intraday' markets that have deep liquidity like CL, NQ, NG, DAX, HSI etc...

Good journal participation and I read 'cause NQ is my primary market (along w/ES) - and I am also a trend breakout w/pullback and w/trend pullback trader as well.

And yes I'm getting in your face a bit - I'd like to see you sharpen your edge and keep simplifying your EDGE so you can down the road trade real size under all trading conditions.

peace...

ROFL! It's all play time for me. If it isn't fun for me I don't do it. Life is too short to spend it majoring in the minors. If you want to spend your time micro analyzing everything have at it. I am having fun whether I am trading live or sim. Doesn't matter.

Act like a man.... oh boy. Thank you for that piece of wisdom. Quite frankly I will do whatever I want. I didn't spend 25 years of my life working in hot nasty factories to spend the next 25 worried about what people think of me and what I am doing. If I decide to trade small time frames or long time frames, that is my choice. I am not afraid to experiment and I don't need some spreadsheet to tell me whether or not it works.

Why don't you act like a man and post your trades in a journal? Show people how it's really done. I see one you started back in Jan of 2017 but it only has 2 entries.

Seriously if my trading style bothers you that much hang out elsewhere. You seem stressed. Relax. It's all good. It's all fun. I am having the time of my life, are you?

hello,

read the posts on this thread with great interest, regarding trading NQ futures,

1) the liquidity is a blessing

2) the volatility, depends on the 24/7 period you trade,

3) the algo,s can be had and confused

4) EST - 3.59pm - 4.01, when the algo,s speed up beautifully, you can run with the flow most days, as you can buy on the bid or ask, order flow software, trend lines etc are not appropriate for this market unless the time frame is longer than 10 minutes,

5) EST between 11am 2pm on a tick chart for a few seconds sometimes a lull in trading, no trades etc, direction unsure, then buy or sell the trend in the overall market with laddered limit order quickly, 50 contracts, $500 USD mar per contract = $25K, this is the best way to trade, you get one or two point, this applies to any market stocks, bonds, commodities

6) for low cap traders, go with AAPL option at the money, weekly, but day trade them, do not hold the weeklies, time decay is costly, cost about $200 to buy the option, have a min $10K acco,

AAPL everyday has good movement, always has a daily trend

finally the problem for us investors is that all the exchanges keep introducing new and more products, we are human and curious therefore we have a peek and this adds more confusion, to much choice !!!,

concentrate on one item, portfolio management, ba humbug, good 100 years ago, non correlation, today total is correlated.

good luck and do no give a f___________

All I will say is I am weary of those who mark themselves as Advanced traders on their profiles... I have yet to see one that is actually 'Advanced'.

Japan, Canada and US bank holidays today and the volume on Forex futures shows it. It will probably pick up now that Frankfurt is open and again when London opens but overall I would expect it to be low today. Could cause some volatility or it could just lay there like a wet noodle.

Indices volume looks good. Right in line with what we had this time of the morning last Thursday and Friday. Could be another interesting day.

Lot's of chop on NQ up to this point. The oscillations appear to be getting smaller like it is winding up for something. Or it could just be a choppy day which wouldn't be unexpected after the wild ride the last two trading days. Nothing setting up for a trade at this point so it could be a good time to get some reading in. Picked up a new book based on recommendations from this site. Carol Dweck's Mindset book. Looks to be an interesting read.

Yeah, I know it is early. When I woke up a little while ago, I felt ready to go so I went. I think that is how I am going to do it this week. When I wake up is when I wake up. Plenty of trading opportunities throughout the day.

Hope everyone has a great week.

Started getting a bad headache earlier this morning so I missed 2 good trades. Caught one great one to make up for it.

Done for the day.

Although price has swung around some today, the changes in direction were nice and smooth. Nothing abrupt. Volume is very good at 342k going into lunch. For a while there that was a full days volume.

Day 4 of the Bull slaughter seems to be well underway. Not a good time to be long on NQ.

No high impact news today unless we get another Trump and Dump.

Good volume yesterday although slightly less than the previous two days. Volume this morning is a bit light as well when you compare it to this time on the previous three days.

Looking for one good trade for the day then walk away. Yesterday after I had that nice trade I played around with sim and over traded like crazy. I chased trades horribly. Some worked out others just wiped profits. Lesson of the day, make some money get the heck out. Go enjoy life.

Three trades today. I thought about just stopping after the first one but the next two set ups were pure gold. Stayed very conservative and only took trades with strong pull backs all the way to the 200 ema. All from the 1000 tick chart, see below. 368 ticks all total. Did just like yesterday. Entered the trade, waited for the 21 ema to move in front of my entry point then assigned the stop to the ema. These markets have been very friendly to me and how I trade. Not going to lie I really hope they continue this way for a long time. LOL!

It may get interesting around here over the next few days. Hurricane Michael is predicted to still be a tropical storm when it gets to us later tonight and through Thursday. I probably won't trade Thursday I would hate to get into a trade and then lose power. I have a backup plan but why take the chance. If it is weaker when it gets here then I will trade. They are calling for 30+ mph sustained winds as it passes. Of course they said that about Florence and we didn't get much more than a trickle and a slight breeze. LOL! Wish I could be as wrong as the weather people and still make money trading.

Some observations:

Yesterdays volume on NQ was still strong but getting a little weaker each day. Still above the 10 day moving average on volume.

Overnight volume was decent putting it close to yesterdays volume at this time. Could be another 600k day for NQ. I am a little concerned at the swings in price that started showing up yesterday near the close and continued through the night. Has me wondering if we are moving into a range bound day. Not really a big deal, it just changes how I would trade it. The range is fairly wide at 34 points so there could still be some opportunities for longer trades but I may just drop back and grab 10-20 points and be done. Run and gun offense. We will see how it does as we move into the US session. Looks like the bulls and the bears are battling it out.

Still working on getting the trade signals working right in BloodHound. I get occasional oddball signals that really shouldn't be there. Haven't figured out if it is how I have it set up or perhaps a bug in their software. If I can't figure it out I will take a screenshot and send it to them to see if I am missing something.

Wow, these markets are getting crushed. We are only about 120 points away from the 200 ema on the daily chart for NQ. If it breaks through it and holds it could get real ugly. Not saying it will hit it today but it is definitely a very strong push down.

Dow futures down 460 points!
S&P futures down 50 points!
NQ down 194 points...

Unreal. Hard to keep my finger off of the mouse button. LOL! I will resist. If I can't I will switch to sim and get it out of my system.

Dang! Didn't think it would try to go all the way but we are just above the 200 ema on the daily chart for NQ. Unreal.

It will be interesting to see where it goes from here.

ES still has about 30 points to get to the 200 ema on the daily chart.

Crazy wind and rain woke me up. Decided (naturally) to check the markets. HUGE overnight volume. NQ nearing 100k already. Big price swing to go along with the volume. Bit of a relief rally going on right now. London coming online in about 15 minutes, we will see if it continues then.

Hope this tropical storm blows through fast. Would love to catch some of that action. Winds are already nearing 40 mph so I will just watch or trade sim until this blows over.

Weather channel says 100% chance of rain.... for once I agree. LOL!

LOL!

Better hold on tight, for both the storm and the markets
I have been focusing on commodities and missed al the action in the NQ, stupid stupid stupid

I am going to follow your journal, interesting thread!

Yeah it's nuts. NQ moved up 400+ ticks in the last two hours then dropped 150. Lot's of money to be made or lost today.

The worst has past. Winds on the back side are only showing 15-20 mph.

Spreads during the night on NQ were all over the place. Sometimes as high as 5 ticks.

Looks like a smaller positions, wider stops kind of day.

Quick glance at the daily chart shows the overnight action pushed price back up to the underside of the 200 ema. Volume overnight is crazy. 265k already. Lots of action. Of course this will mean smaller positions due to having to use larger stops which is fine as long as the move is good enough to make up the difference which I think it will be.

Daily chart:

now, time to get to work and make some money.

Later.

I like to gauge a correction by looking at the gain/loss in percentage:

a 10% correction from the high gives this level: 6955.88

Can anyone post the level where the 200 EMA falls based on Yesterday's closing price?

My ema gives 7084.75.

It's bad when a 40 tick stop looks too close.

Oops. Had the trading hours set wrong on that chart. Changed it to ETH and get a 7083.16. It was just set for default which obviously was something else. LOL! I don't use it to trade so not a big deal.

OK i understand. Kineticks uses the settlement price at 16:15 ET whereas your broker uses the closing price which might vary from one broker to another.

Trade signals getting better. Still have some work to do. There are other trades I don't have plugged in yet. There in the code, I just have them turned off for now. Isolating to one entry type to make sure it is working 100%.

Stopping my trading for the day. Too wild even for my taste. Total of 20 ticks profit. I will wait and see if it calms down some before making any more trades. Never thought I would say that I hope NQ calms down a bit but I hope it calms down a bit. When 40 tick stops look too close it's a wild day.

I just watched today's webinar on the NinjaTrader order flow suite and during that webinar they talked in detail about the Order Flow Volume Profile indicator in NT. I now understand some of the multitude of settings it has and what they do and mean. I must say.... quite interesting to see it on my charts. I have it set up to draw profiles for every 60 bars on a 1 minute chart. I also have it extending the POC line from each hour. What's cool about that setting is it will only draw the line until price takes out that POC line. Nice since it doesn't clutter up the screen. Lots to learn but if you have that capability in NT watch the webinar once it is posted if you didn't see it today.

Not ready to trade with it of course. Just a new shiny thing for me to look at..... oooooohhh purty!! It makes for some interesting support/resistance and even price targets.

Too bad sleep is a requirement. 130+ point move overnight. That pushes price back above the 200 ema on the daily chart, at least for now. Overnight volume has been strong on NQ. Could be another "interesting" day.

Volume yesterday was impressive at over 1.1 million contracts. ES came up a little shy of 4 million. For all of the wild swings on NQ yesterday the day ended up pretty much where it started.

All of this volatility is making it hard to get a reasonable stop size on trades. I tried dropping down to a lower tick chart to get a decent stop but with all the volume that's like standing near the fence at a NASCAR race.

So, what am I going to do today? Stick to the higher tick charts. 500,1000,2000 etc. Wait for nothing but premium set ups and just take a smaller position and see what happens. With the crazy moves, if you get on the right side of the move even 1-3 contracts is generating serious rewards. I hope that patience will be rewarded today and that it won't cause analysis paralysis. With fewer opportunities hesitation is an even bigger enemy.

My yard is soggy from all the rain yesterday but no damage anywhere. It will take a few days for things to dry out enough to be able to cut the grass but that's just a nuisance and not a real problem. I feel bad for the people along the coastline of Florida/Alabama. Insane damage.

Took one set up today for 81 ticks. Being a Friday I didn't want to push it any further. Price movement was getting choppy anyway. Here is the set up I took. I used a set target for 81 ticks ( 20 points plus 1 tick for commissions). I had to increase the stop due to the wider swings. I increased the initial stop from 40 to 45 ticks for today. I needed nearly all of it. It came within 3-4 ticks of taking me out. Too close for comfort but I saw no reason to exit. Trade only took about 7-8 minutes.

I was looking for "premium" set ups. In this case price was down around 200 ema with the 60 ema above it so the intermediate trend was long. Found where one candle went in the direction of the trend followed by one against. I liked it even more since this occurred just below the 200 ema. Like it was thinking about changing direction. Set a buy stop limit (not a buy stop market due to how wild price movement has been) at the top of the body of the candles. Trade was taken on the 1000 tick chart.

I plan on working more on the trade signals in BloodHound this weekend and some tonight. Time to get serious about automation. Would like to eventually add CL, ES and 6E to the mix and having something that can enter the trade automatically would make that so much easier. Right now, NQ spread is swinging around too much for my taste. It used to hover around 1-2 ticks during the day a little more in the early morning trading. Today even during US session I am seeing 4-5 sometimes. Not saying I won't trade it but with the wild swings and the bigger spreads I am taking smaller positions, that leaves some capital available for other things. Might as well put it to work.

Hope everyone has a great weekend. Looking forward to next week already.

The fall season is the toughest for me for allergies. Sinus headache all day yesterday. Medicine kept me foggy so trading was at a minimum. I did magically pull around 50 ticks from the market but my brain wasn't functioning fast enough to keep up with price so I just stopped while I was ahead. It took me 3 trades to even squeeze that little bit from the market.

Price has gone a bit cold in the last few hours and all of the moving averages are huddled together for warmth. Will wait for some movement before taking a trade. Right now I would be guessing as to the direction.

1000 tick chart:

Spent a portion of last weekend trying to figure out a good way to take advantage of the volatility and not have to take such big stops. Lower time frames always look so nice when you are scanning back through the charts. In reality they can be tough to trade in a live environment. The sheer number of false signals makes the lower time frames expensive. It can be profitable but you have to be ok with a large number of break evens or small losses before you get in on the right side of a move. Couple that with commissions and it becomes hard to justify it.

I studied the 1000 tick chart in detail as well looking for some sort of pattern or indication that would help in getting in with a smaller stop but haven't found anything yet. The best answer at this point is just to take a smaller position and ride it as long as possible.

With all of the moving averages close together when I first looked at the charts this morning I decided to go conservative again and only take a premium set up. It tried to test my patience but finally showed itself. One other thing I did was not use a pending order since the markets are kind of jumpy. Instead I drew the box you see on the chart below and waited for a close above it. Worked out well. Was only in the market for about 3-5 minutes and took my target of 81 ticks. Hindsight says I should have just let it run. LOL! Nice up trend today. But, I am very happy with the results. 5 minutes and around $400 profit per contract, yeah I will take that any day.

Nice trade! So the pb to the 200 is the trade you were looking for?I follow this on forex on my 5min charts. Also, what is your view if we get a overshoot of the 200 ema?Do you want it it get above the 200 for an entry, or just treat it as an overshoot, and take the better fill?....Ive noticed, on my charts, if we blow through the 200, a PB to it,or the 21 ema can now be a PB entry continuing on

As long as the 21 ema (red line) stayed above the 200 ema (yellow line) the overshoot doesn't matter. I actually really like it when the signal shows up under the 200 ema with a little room to run before getting there. The more the merrier. Here is the exact sequence:

1. 60 above the 200 (intermediate trend is long) 21 ema (red line) needs to stay above the 200 ema.
2. Price came down at least to the 200 but in this case it went below. Even better.
3. One candle in the direction of the trend (long in this case)
4. Next candle opposite. Kind of like price is thinking about going long but is a bit shy.
5. Wait for candle to close over where I marked on the chart (above the high of the two candles)

Everything listed above is just opposite for short trades.

If I thought this was going to be a trending day I would wait for price to move some and then assign the stop to the 21 ema and let it rip. That would have given me 128 ticks instead of 81.

When I say I am looking for a premium set up this is what I am talking about (5 steps above). You can be a bit more aggressive by looking for the same set up but only dropping down to the 60 ema. In that case you want the 21 to be above the 60, price drops down to 60, one candle up, one candle down, close above high of two candles and off you go.

Wow.... watching price out of the corner of my eye while typing this. Rocket ride!!

Why not replace all these EMA's with VWAP? The VWAP gives the same levels no matter the time frame, minute or tick or volume or range bars? Your entry today was a bit after price did test the VWAP almost to the tick.

VWAP would have worked nicely in that case but missed on the second example where price only came down to the 60 ema later in the day. There are a number of scenario's these 4 moving averages help me see. There are at least 8 that have varying degrees of aggressiveness. Reversals, early entries, etc.

I like VWAP and I have had it on my charts on and off over the last few months but I always seem to gravitate back to this style of trading. Old habits die hard. LOL!

Nothing wrong with EMA's really. They often act as support/resistance. Nice trade BTW.

Testing a new theory out this morning. Just testing. Not live. No indicators, just looking for a specific pattern on the 1000 tick chart. Again, just a theory and just testing. Results look good. First trade was 10 contracts by accident. Glad it wasn't live I may have had a heart attack. LOL! There were two trades since market open that I did not trade that would have reached target. Too early to tell if this will work long term. It popped into my head last night and I had to try it to satisfy my curiosity.

Stop: 40 ticks. Would like this to be much closer but 40 seems to work well right now.
Target 81 ticks
Move stop to BE +5 ticks after 40 tick move in my favor. I will try to reduce this some after I have more data.
If a reversal signal shows, move stop and place pending opposite trade 1 tick away. Some of my tests I had the opposite pending order too far away. I can set up the ATM strategy to automatically reverse on a stop out. I may test that as well.

More details to follow if this shows promise beyond just this small sample size.

40 tick stop on the 1000 tick chart is eating my lunch now. Markets sent in their tanks and me with just a butter knife. LOL!

Previous stop outs would have needed at least 50-60 ticks before they went to the good side. Not against doing that. Just an observation at this point.

Great day of trading overall. Only 1 small loser the rest nice gains. Details on chart.

Going to start recording my trading sessions and posting to YouTube starting Monday. It will just be the chart and my voice no video of me. I have been told I have the perfect face for radio. LOL! Seriously I just like to remain private. It's enough of a stretch for me to talk into a microphone. I will post a link to the channel once I have it up and running and the first video is posted. I may do a test video over the weekend to be sure I have everything set up right. I plan on posting every trading day sometime in the evening after I am done. This will give me time to edit out the dead time before posting. I promise no singing.

To make things interesting, starting Monday I am going to trade the account like I am starting with 1,000. I will trade 1 contract per 1,000 in the balance. Yes, I realize that is way more than you should but it is only 1k at risk. There will be a "reserve" fund that I can pull from if the balance drops too far below 1,000. Let's see how far I can get by the end of the year. I will start with a few marathon sessions then as the balance increases I will quickly reduce the hours that I trade. At some point during this challenge, I will trade each of the sessions during the day. Mostly US session of course, but some Euro and some Asia just to show there is opportunity all through the day and not just US session. Too many of my friends are complaining that they can't make any money because they have to work a 9-5. I want to take that excuse away from them.

Looking forward to the YouTube channel. How many contracts do you usually trade on the NQ?

3-5 right now with markets so volatile. In reality with the markets moving like they are 1-2 is more than enough to generate a decent income if you get on the right side of the move.

Very nice trade - I would like to think I would have taken the same trade..but for other reasons as I structure my read using different ideas/concepts.

I posted about this guy a few weeks back. Either he has deep pockets or he is just trading demo and wants people to think it is live. I hope for his sake it is demo but when he posts on another forum he talks about his losses like they were real.

As they say in the south.... "Bless his heart."

Ouch. This is from his live stream on YouTube. Price has dropped since then.

Fridays are capital preservation days. Only took one trade and it just barely squeezed out 81 ticks. Conservative play again. Waited for price to come back down to the 200 ema and give the signal. Another quick trade. Seems to go that way when it's a good trade.

It's a pity the chart doesn't show the trade entry and exits.
Is that -38,000 the P/L for the day? You would really have to go for it with a clip size of two contracts to lose that much.

Ouch. Maybe he’s got some weird subconscious issue with trading. I read in the Market Wizards book about a guy who would hide his own Broker Statements from
himself and then blame his wife for hiding them!

I've watched his streams a few times before, I am not sure he can define his entry or exit reasons. It makes no sense to watch.

Yeah, that's -38,000 USD for today. He said at the end of the stream that it was about half of his account. He was up early and should have just quit then but he kept going. He was trading 2-6 contracts most of the time and then when I tuned in later he had around 15-20 contracts long when the market was clearly headed down. From then on it was just revenge trading.

He has already deleted the stream. He did that last time when he lost about 15k.

Missing a cable that I need to connect microphone to my computer. The microphone that I have isn't usb so I have to connect it to a mixer then send it to the PC. Missing the cable between the microphone and the mixer. Should be here Tuesday evening. So, no sound until Wednesday.

I will still record today just without audio. I will make notations on the screen.

Good trading day overall even though I was distracted trying to get audio to work I managed to get some decent trades in along with 2 chicken trades. LOL!

Today I started a 1,000 dollar challenge as I listed in a previous post. 1 contract per 1,000 in the account with a starting balance of 1,000. Day went well with no drawdown, only 1 break even trade (so technically a $3.66 loser) and 3 trades profitable. Started with 1,000 ended with 1,340.36 after commissions. That works out to be a 34% gain. There were a ton of other opportunities to take trades but I was too distracted to take them. The returns would have been much higher. But I am not complaining about a 34% gain. In fact I am very happy with those numbers considering how unfocused I was most of the day.

I did take one trade based on the 50 tick chart early this morning. The 50 tick works really well early in the morning from about 1 am until about 8-9 am Eastern time US. I happened to be up and saw the opportunity and took it. I will be trading early in the morning tomorrow. Price is moving nicely then and it is a good opportunity to get in with tight stops which is great when trying to build a tiny account. If I can build a decent profit it will help later in the day to act as a cushion when the markets really start to move.

All the other trades today were based on the 1000 tick chart.

Now, I need to remember how to use Premier Pro. Been a while and they just updated it the other day. Time to knock off some rust. I will let everyone know when I upload the video. May take a bit, rust is tough to remove. LOL!

Nope. And like @bobarian said going to BestBuy is a joke. I needed a display port cable the other day and they wanted 20 bucks for a 6 foot cable. I paid 10 for a 10 ft cable on Amazon. Gold plated at that. LOL!

I think I may have found someone who may have a cable I can borrow. The type of cable I need is called an XLR cable. Not something Wal-Mart would carry. LOL! May actually have sound starting tomorrow if he can find his.

It's the Ogre's Tick Counter of course. LOL!

Wow! Forgot to set the alarm and look what I missed (about 26 points at this time):

It also seems like trading in the evening is worthwhile these days. We are down nearly 90 points on NQ already. Most of that was from the evening yesterday.

Hard to trade when 1,000 tick candles are 50-80 ticks. Lower time frames are just too fast right now. I will give it some time to settle down.

There is a bar timer version that puts the time next to the candle as well.

I'm glad you did this. Well worth watching.

I decided to just skip through to the good parts though -- 45 minutes is a bit long to sit through. I watched to the end, using the slider to skip along.

I did definitely like your annotations. They explained your decisions as well as audio would have.

The fact that you were recording and commenting in real time (while it was happening and not afterwards) is impressive. Your comments show how important it is to have a clear set of rules to follow. I wonder how stressful it was for you as you did it.

I'm looking forward to more, as you develop your filming and editing technique. Too bad about that cable, but you did fine for a first shot at something that's pretty difficult to do.

Bob.

Thank you! I appreciate you taking the time to provide feedback.

I left as much as I did in the video just so people could zip forward and backward as much as they wanted to see what was going on. I am not going to monetize that YouTube account so how long people watch each video really doesn't matter. As the trading account grows and the amount of time I spend trading decreases so will the video length.

I am actually finding that annotating is actually helping me. It forces me to think about what I am doing and why I am doing it. Slows me down a bit. I think it will get even better when I do voice with it. I will probably keep some of the annotations but add them during the editing process later.

I have a new monitor coming today along with my missing XLR cable. I am adding the monitor so I can dedicate it to making the videos. My current monitors are ultra wide monitors (4k, 21:9 aspect ratio) which makes it a pain to capture and then make them usable by most people. The new monitor is a 16:9 aspect ratio which is a normal ratio. Right now I have to set one of my monitors to 1920x1080 to get it to capture correctly but I lose some screen real estate because of it. With the new dedicated monitor I can set everything up on the ultra wides and then enter trades on the new screen. Yeah, I used this as an excuse to get a new toy. Get over it. ROFL!

Once I get everything set up I will post a picture.

I haven't done any trading today. I didn't like the price movement earlier so unless I take a trade in the next few hours there won't be a video today. This will also give me time to set everything up once it gets here in a little while. Mailman is super slow on the days I am waiting for packages. LOL!

New Monitor...... check
XLR cable..... check
Sound........ check

Ok, we get sound for tomorrow's trading. Hope the market is kind. LOL!

Bare with me as I get used to doing this. It's a bit odd talking into a microphone with no one else around. Be prepared for corny humor and all around weirdness. Don't say I didn't warn you.

I will try to cover as much of my trading style as I can in this first video. I do plan on doing a very detailed video some time in the future but that will take some time to put together.

LOL!

How did you feel being down 20% on that 1000tick trade? NQ retrace -10pts before moving up, Wouldn't that stopped you out?

I will record it locally, then edit it down some and post to YouTube after I am done trading. I may do a live stream sometime in the future but right now I think it would be too distracting for me.

I will give as much detail as I can tomorrow as to how I trade but I do plan on doing a very detailed video in the future. I will basically be thinking out loud.

On my main screen that I will record I have all the same charts I have on the other screens just in tab form. So, if I see something on the 1000 tick chart while I am looking at the 50 tick chart, I can click the tab on the main screen and quickly show it so everyone can see what I am seeing.

I need to clean this room some before taking any pictures. Looks like a tornado hit it right now.

Technically I wasn't down 20%. I had a trade earlier in the morning that put me up by $170. 10 points would have only put me -30 on the initial balance. I used the early morning trade as a buffer for the more volatile time during US session. It came within about 1-2 ticks of taking me out.

As crazy as the markets are right now, you have to be prepared for some drawdown during the US session. There is more in the account than 1k. I am only trading it like there is 1k in it. If the balance drops too low I will "add" some from the reserve and make a note of it.

It will look distorted due to the ultra wide screen 21:9 aspect ratio. Now, I actually have a left and a right side Ultra Wide monitor along with the new 16:9 in the middle. Please ignore the mess, it's still under construction.

Video is rendering now. Should be done in about 20 minutes. Then I will upload it. YouTube takes a while to process it so give it some time and I will post the link when it is ready.

The day started rough when I took a full stop out of 55 ticks due to impatience. I entered the trade too soon after the markets opened instead of waiting for it to settle down some. Good news is that I didn't panic, I just waited for another opportunity and jumped on it for 87 ticks positive. Finished the day up $152.68 which puts the challenge balance at 1,493.04. That is a 49% gain since we started Monday. I am good with it. Especially when you consider the first trade was negative by $275.

Re-watching the video over and over while I edited it helped me to see something I was missing but will implement tomorrow. This should help improve the results even more.

I started getting tired so I just stopped looking for any more trades. I was actually excited to try doing a voice recording and had a hard time going to sleep last night. I bet I don't have that problem tonight.

It was weird talking into the microphone at first but I started getting a bit more comfortable as the day went on. Nobody likes the sound of their own voice, me included.

This video includes some of the basics of what I look for in a trade. I will include more as the week goes on. This video looks better than the first. It's a learning process. I still plan on doing a detailed and better organized video on how I trade at a later date.

First one is up but doesn't have sound....

Pls post linkage to your site, thx?

Click where it says, SHARE....

The Word SHARE appears below
the screen, on the lower right hand corner, K?

Have fun and profitable trading.

I would lend lots of credence to your post
and your video;

if you would always include the CHART TRADER,
appearing on the right hand side of
your trading screen;

where it would show what a great call you make
each time....

alright....? Thx much for sharing.
=======

TradingOgre:

When you have your video posted on yourtube,
remember to post a linkage for us to watch and
learn your trading screens and style, K?

This is what I meant by showing your right hand
screen where CHART TRADER appears, to track
your live trade as it moves along, from initiating
your position to liquidating, K?

It will always be up, just the account number is covered. You can also follow on the chart without the chart trader showing. It shows lot size and profit/loss.

Whenever I am not in a trade it will show the gross profit/loss for the day.

See previous post for link to today's video.

Great audio and video.

Thx for sharing it.

Have a quick quest for you:

1--What prompted you to initiate the buy position,
per attachment?

2--your stoploss is 50 tic in NQ, which
is about 250 dollars, is that correct?

3--under what circumstances, would you
initiate a sell position, according to your setup?

I did not have time to enjoy all the way through
the video, but it is a great beginning.

you seem to have enormous background in this.

wish you the best, going ahead.

1. 60 ema was above 200 ema. One candle in the direction of the trend followed by one against. Entry at top of candles.
2. 55 right now when trading the 1000 tick chart.
3. Same as 1 just reversed. There are several entry methods it will just take time to cover them all in the video's.

Nice videos. When you switch chart it is not easy to see which timeframe is used as it appears faded somewhat. If you could make it more visible then it would help. Thanks
