Something to keep in mind......the 8-10 CL contract just became the highest traded volume contract on 6/18. So.......you may want to adjust your findings to reflect that.

CL rolls over on a monthly basis.

Thanks Jeff for the kind reminder. For 8-10 CL contract on 18-25 Jun, total 13 trades (7 Long and 6 Short) and 100% winners @ making $120/trade.

A quick question please on CL rollover. Say for 9-10 CL contract, will one switch on 20 Aug (3rd Fri of the month)? Please enlighten me. Thank you.

Beth

This is something that Gary taught me. The rollover is the 3rd Fri of the month BUT.......the way to know for sure which contract has the most volume is to open your MARKET ANALYZER .......put the current contract AND the next contract up and trade the one with the most volume.

THANKS GARY !!

Beth,

On your inside bar strat, is your stop and target fixed? If so, fixed at what values?

Todd

Hi Todd

I have PT and SL @12 and 25 respectively (all 1-contract trades).

I tested the Inside Bar Strategies on 6E 09-10 with the results per enclosed.

Testing Timeline: 2 weeks
Trading Hours: 9:00 am to 11:00 am EST
PT/SL: 10 and 20 respectively (Trade No 3 on the InsideBarLong log should be a losing trade -$250 unless SL @25. I need to fix my strategies as SL seems not working properly.)

I went through the chart manually. All Inside bar trades were captured on the logs.

Very impressive Jeff!

Beth

You are most welcome Emini Holy Grail. I just figured out how to move the yellow dot so that it won't cover part of the bar, ie

Changing MDF 1 to a bigger number (I use 8 and you may want to play with it)

Make It Worth Your While: Hourly 6E Ranges - Slope Of Hope with Tim Knight

As you know I do not trade 6e.

However, I thought I would start a little research to try and determine the optimal times to trade 6e.

Here's an interesting article I found.

Hi Jeff, given I live on the other side of the world, I often trade the 6E in the middle of your night. Until about 7 or 8am ET the 6E will have 4 to 5x the volume of CL.

In addition it moves more quickly than the CL as well. Although having said all that, it is not uncommon for the CL to have a 100 pt move before the cash open.

I agree with your referenced article. I have found that over a period of a number of months, the best time in the middle of the night is 3am to 5am (for both CL and 6E) often from 5am to 7am can be completely dead. But like all things trading, there are days when you get good moves right through to 9am ET.

Hi Steve,

Thanks for your comments regarding trading times for 6e.......although I find it hard to believe that anything moves more "quickly" than CL. LOL

In your comment you referenced 3-5 am.......which time zone?

Thanks, Jeff
