Sorry to hear this and good job on the first steps to walk away and get off tilt! I find that I need to be very careful for a couple of days after a bad day like this - seems even good trades go bad after a horrible day due to the lingering effects of the lack of mental balance.

Hello All,

No charts in this entry just a summary update. I still cannot believe it! Somehow, last night, and I don't know how, I left an open order on the chart. When I finally realized it, I was so far down I couldn't believe it. Instead of taking a huge loss and following my plan which would have kept my TST account alive, I elected to add to my "losing trade" in order to lower my entry price and attempt to minimize my loss or hopefully get out at breakeven. In frustration, I said to myself, "I will either save it or blow it." I left the computer and if any of you saw the 6E last night it just tanked and along with it my Combine. So I restarted the Combine this morning while I was still on "tilt". Of course, NOT being in the proper mindset yet, made me the "fish" in the market today. So, while I was still "angry" and with no "common sense" I entered a trade and immediately lost. Then with my revenge mindset still in charge, I immediately entered another trade and was down almost instantly. However, some how at this point, I finally came to my senses, closed the trade, took a small loss, left the computer and stopped trading for the day. Now, I am down about $240 which is nothing and I will live to fight another day.

Being honest, my mindset is still not where it should be, so I am going to spend some time with the Lord, relax and not think about trading until the morning. I will also catch up on reading everyone's journals then, when my mindset has been totally rebooted so to speak. I hope everyone else had a "Great trading day!"

If you learn anything from reading this brief post at all, it should be that the most important ingredients to being successful in trading are your mental outlook or mindset as well as your discipline to follow your plan and not your emotions. Really, reading the charts is the simple part of trading in my humble opinion!

Trying a quick 2S on the YM with 2Ks near the market open. It must get by 20748 which is support to have a chance.

I missed the trigger on the NQ trade and hoped it would come back to fill me before it reached the target but no luck, price action already travelled 12 ticks.

Update on the YM trade: Price has pushed 8 ticks to the next resistance level, stalled and pulled back up almost to the entry. We will see what happens!

I had to leave to pick up my daughter and do some shopping, and I didn't want to leave a 15 tick stop and target, so I adjusted both back to 10 tick stop and 10 tick target so $100 to start the day. I always like the little cushion going into the morning and there is usually a trade setup near the opening of the market at 6:00 pm EST. It just may take forever to close but that is okay.

I love those setups in the morning. Better than coffee

A perfect 2S on the 6J with 2Ks. I closed the position at +14. I barely got here in time for this one. If I had more time I would have used 5Ks. Another $175 almost at my daily goal and its not even London session yet. Sweet!

What happened with your trading records and the vault situation. First, I want to say a big thank you to aquarian1 (Ian) for he really went out of his way to help me and offered up some great advice and follow up. Thanks Ian!

I never was able to mount the vault and access the files. I will admit that I didn't try everything but decided not to put any more time and energy into the effort. I learned that some others had similar problems when their computer did certain Windows updates and that was enough for me. Basically, I may not have all the detailed records exactly the way I like them but I am not about to reenter all of last year's info when I can get it elsewhere from the brokerage. So I will live with that. I am planning on redoing my spreadsheets (probably this weekend) where all my daily input feeds into my monthly reports, my monthly reports feed into my quarterly reports and my quarterly reports feed into my annual report, so as long as I keep up with my daily entries there is no problem. I am considering not even worrying about the daily data and just enter the end of month data which will automatically create the quarterly and annual reports. Whatever, I do finally decide for 2017 I will redo from the beginning of the year and stay on top of it.

Most importantly for my security concerns though, I am going to store the info on a USB drive and keep it separate from my computer which should take care of the potential security problem and I will require a password to access the documents. In addition, I will not put any personal information on the USB drive or computer.

Thank you all for your support!

As computer engineer I should warn you. Don't buy cheap chinese usb drive. Best choice I'd suggest you is Western Digital. Any "My passport" drives from them its perfect for all your needs. Look for ones that have a in-built password protection which is a hardware protection and way less likely to fail at any random point.

I've been away from the computer most of the day but did have an opportunity to take this trade a little while ago in my live account for +12 ticks. It was a 2L.
