I asked cobraking
because he joined FIO today. And guess what
he made his first post in this thread

I wonder why

You don't need to wonder, I joined to vote unban.

I did not read anything in the terms of service for the site, nor in this poll-thread indicating registering for an account with the forum and the first action being voting was against any rules.

In fact the vote was what prompted me to register as I have been attending the room and thought the ban wasn't fair, so I found a reason for putting my prejudice against this forum aside and register , so I could place the vote.

I never had any wishes to join this site, exactly because of the community reaction in situations like this, comments of wrong-doing and ill-will because I simply, within the scope of the poll and forum rules, join to vote.

No, what's sad is that we all watched a young man learn a lesson about honesty and integrity. I doubt a single person who chose to ban him did so without a heavy heart.

Sounds like the end of an episode of "Leave it to Beaver"...

You may be totally legit. But you notice how none of the last minute people to join voted to Ban. There is more incentive for Alex and his shills to make up a bunch of new user names and vote Unban there is for legit people to do the opposite. That is why there are so many post by scammers saying how great their Trading Room is .vs the opposite.

Not getting involved in the thread's debate, but I saw this comment and I wanted to address the general principle:

While technically there may be no rules against joining the forum for the sole purpose of voting to ban/unban someone, it is conceptually wrong: if you aren't already part of a community you should not be entitled to have any say about what goes on in said community, especially if you never wished to join it in the first place.

This is why (regardless of anything else) Mike was right in excluding people having joined only to vote.

I recognise that this forum may not be suitable for everybody, but for those people who do join and abide by its rules, it works. This community can be self-policing and that is one of the reasons why it works well.

Again, none of my comments are directed at what may or may not have taken place in the thread. I am merely airing my views on the actions of people who have joined with the express purpose to vote for/against somebody.

@Big Mike

Since this matter in one way or the other is now dealt with, would you consider closing the thread?

Exactly what evidence would that be. You have a self proclaimed profitable ES scalper who shows no proof of his claims what so ever. He has a checkered past but we are suppose to drink the Kool-Aid and believe him. I think not. He is just using this forum to further promote. I bet his free website dies quickly not that his main source of noobs is dead. Anyone willing to take the wager?

I'm not arguing with you as you seem to have had your mind made up even before hand with such nasty comments.

I was simply referencing the you tube video/recording someone recorded of him defending himself to the things that were being posted in his journal.

I hope Alex has learned from this and has a chance at redeeming himself. Time to move on.

I totally agree. I'm sure that there could be some value in keeping the thread open for a while longer so anyone who has a final comment can make it, but the level of discussion here has been pretty low.

- We have a new member who doesn't think there is anything improper (or dishonest) with joining a forum he disapproves of just to help swing a vote of the members to help someone he favors, whom he knows only from outside the forum.

- We have anti-Alex partisans still declaring against him with passion, even though the matter is now decided.

I think that most people did their best to arrive at a good decision, and, as @Inletcap said, probably most who voted to ban him did so with a heavy heart. More of this controversy is not helpful.

@Big Mike, as soon as you think enough final comments have been made, please close this thread and end this noise.

Bob.

Thanks Bob, it's not only that.

Personally, I find looking into new posts on a thread time-consuming as it is.

When it's clear a thread has exhausted its purpose and no longer adds value, it should just be closed IMO.

Besides, a decision has been made, some people expressed the wish to move on. So let's.

LOL!! That is so funny. Only in the Day Trading World is stating someone has shown no proof of their claims deemed nasty. Give me a break. Next time you hire a roofer don't ask for any evidence what so ever that he is licensed or ever installed a roof, as that would just be rude and nasty.

Theodore Cleaver tones or not, I wholeheartedly concur with Inletcap.

Alex has great potential however because we really can't differentiate between him and his father, I voted ban. I guess others also, as we felt he joined popular threads (which we have spent a lot of time developing collegiality and trust in), not to learn but to gain market share for his, and as far as we can know his father's site in the first instance. The first prototype commercial site was registered to Chris not Alex.

@cobraking

If you think we are cold hearted look at this. The point where we learned our friend Olivier aka @Okina passed away. Or see his his own thread.

You will even see a comment from rocksolid68, whether made by Alex or his dad Chris I don't know.

At least two currents converged here I expect, Alex getting noticed for plugging his room a lot and a due diligence check of rocksolid68's past unveiling all the tradingschools thread stuff to Mike.

A decision had to be made. On FIO we have long taken a tough stance against people who play games with others or dig holes for themselves unduly; common sense is expected here. Otherwise were are elitetrader or the youtube comments section.

The odd history of a "rocksolid68" in murky/seedy? territory on other forums is a concern as I posted yesterday. I would have chosen not to post had the vote not been so close. As vote rigging was occurring, I can't feel bad about doing this.

Chris or Alex were beyond the pail for many once their long standing but seemingly unmentioned (till the last minute) plan to go vendor came to light. That Alex was obviously pumping beginners and guys (who make a living live trading "Wizard" or not) in subtle/not so ways to got to his site was very off-putting and suspicious.

People are generally split between those who act on compelling, abet partial, information (experienced traders usually) and those who want multiple confirmations so they can have a 100% clear conscience (new guys usually). These characteristics are ingrained into our basic natures and should result in a miserable Lib-Cons polarisation however Big Mike has pulled off a neat trick of social engineering here with a few forum rules.

“The middle of the road is all of the usable surface. The extremes, right and left, are in the gutters.” Dwight D. Eisenhower

That on FIO we have a fairly broad middle of the road is why we like it here. Mistakes can be learned from and overcome by the kids, maybe not by us older fatherly types, we are more die-cast but can surprise you now and again.

waffling
