I agree very much so. I will mostly be trading CL but possibly ES ZC and ZS.
In wanting to answer what my edge is I think I would have to say right now part of it is my avoidance of large losses. It sounds profound to say my edge is to not take a large loss but by seeing the value of that in a small sample of my trading it has taken me from being a trader that blows up any account I may have grown, to becoming a trader that watches small wins pile up. In reality it is just the Risk to Reward issue, except I guess I always struggled to define it before hand. After seeing what wins were possible in my "strategy" I focus on keeping my risk proportionate to the profits I have been able to take. Basically coming at it from the back end instead of the front end.
This is probably just more wording but it encapsulates what I'm trying to say - I cannot control how much the market rewards me, but I can control what I would allow the market to take from me. Therefore if my wins are averaging a certain amount I must keep risk proportionate to that.
