Welcome, Guest!

This forum was established to help traders (especially futures traders) by openly sharing indicators, strategies, methods, trading journals and discussing the psychology of trading.

@Inletcap Wow! Thanks, I am going to email this post to myself read it and re-read it again and again until it get's into my mind. I have almost everything you are talking about except those pivots, I will find it and code it for TOS if they are not already available. I see lot of professionals use them. Overnight I see USDJPY selling, bonds on tear and crude going down but still amateur in me wants to find that reversal and in every trade I seek confirmation and re-confirmation and miss the trade...

Feb 11th

Market overview (16.00 CET)
- Japan down 2.5%
- China down 3.5%
- Europe down 2-3%
- Oil down 2%
- Gold/silver up 2.5-3.5%. Looks like a fligt into safety
- Bonds neutral

Important price levels
- 1864.50 Lower range since Jan + yesterday high + R1
- 1840.75 Support/resistance level + VWAP + overnight low
- 1826.00 Tuesday low, last daily SR level towards 1804
- 1804.25 Long time low, important level for further down move

- Overnight made new lows
- Overall sentiment is negative
- I expect a test of the 1840 and 1804 levels, likely a breakdown through the 1804 level. If this happens, it will be with a lot of force since its a long time low

Trade 1: +9 points
- Break through SR level 1826 (just below S1)
- TICK making lower low, (inv)TRIN down towards -1.20, VIX not yet following, oil down
- Short 1 contract, risk 4 points, first profit target is 1816 (OR low) . Will add on pullback
- Closed just above 1st profit target

Trade 2: +3.75 points
- Add on previous trade during pullback
- Accidentally closed (need to get used to trading contracts with different stop levels)

Trade 3: +0.75 points
- Re-entry of previous trade, immediately after by accident closing previous trade
- Closed at the break of the trendline, TICK and (inv)TRIN showed signs of significant pullback. Hindsight: why close on this pullback? My bias is negative, analysis show that a 10 point move has 2 pullbacks on average

Trade 4: -4.5 points
- Break through price level (low)
- Internal confirming the downward move, oil down 4%
- Short 1 contract, risk 4 points, profit target 1805 at -2SD. I have my doubts if we break the 1802 today
- Did not add on the pullback because I was 4 points in loss
- Closed it. Did not trust (inv)TRIN which is up for 1.5 hours already and other internals reversed also

First trading day with new method where I added during a pullback.

Market overview
- Japan neutral
- China up 1-3%
- Europe down 0.5%
- Oil down 2%
- Gold/silver down 2-2.5%
- Bonds down 0.5%

Important price levels
- 1905 HVN on weekly, naked VPOC of Feb 4th
- 1864 SR level, yesterday low (if significant at all)
- 1804 Long term support level, naked VPOC of Feb 10th

- Overnight made higher high

- There are low volumes today and sentiment is slightly negative. I expect the 1864 level to be tested, before going towards the 1905 level

Feb 16

Trade 1: 8.25 + 1.75 - 6 = +4 points
- Pullback to OR low / pivot point
- Internals not quite alligned yet -> risky trade
- Short 1 contract, risk 3 points (above mid OR), profit target 1871 (S1 / -2SD)
- Added at break of VAL (was chasing, had a limit order at VPOC), profit target 1866
- Added accidentally while messing with limit orders, closed immediatly, +1.75 points
- Profit target 1st contract, +8.25 points
- Stopped out on 2nd contract, -6 points
- I'm surprised by the 6 points loss on the 2nd contract and was expecting a 2.25 point loss. Im not used to managing multiple contracts with different stop orders in NT. Need to work on this

Trade 2: -4.25 points
- Missed the entries at OR high and pullback to 1SD due to dinner. Came back and jumped in at a bad price level to not miss the anticipated move up
- Pullback to SR level
- (inv)TRIN and (inv)VIX are supporting the move up. TICK is not yet following
- Long 1 contract, stop 4 points, 1st profit target at R1 (1895)
- Stopped out

Feb 17th

Trade 1: -2.25 points
- Pullback from OR high / SD1 / VAH
- Internals not yet confirming
- Short 1 contract, risk 3 points, 1st profit target 1898 (just above R1)
- Reversed position (in direction of my bias) when price went against me
- Hindsight: good decision, but should not have taken the short at all

Trade 2: 9 + 2 = 11 points
- Breakout from OR high
- iVIX and iTRIN are up, TICK not making higher high (yet)
- Long 1 contract, risk 3 points (mid of OR), 1st profit target 1922 (high of Feb 4th). Expecting resistance at 1914-1915 (R3), opportunity to add
- Add at R3 (crude up from 2% -> 3.5%, iTRIN jumping back up, confirming the add)
- Contract 1, profit target almost reached, +9 points
- Contract 2, closed when higher low was taken, +2 points
- I'm proud of the way I managed this trade: added during the trade, kept total risk exposure at 3 points, patience and profit target 1st contract reached
- Hindsight: should have given contract 2 more room by putting the stop at breakeven of 1SD, missing a run (towards 1931 perhaps).

I don't trade around FOMC announcements, so no more further trades today.
Will keep an eye on the market and Spoo

I'm not able to trade tomorrow and Friday.
See you in the pit on Monday!

I'm expecting to see something awesome here this afternoon. You nailed support and got the trend up. Can't wait to see execution

Entry and managing contract 1 ok
Chickened out on contract 2, missing the rest of the move up.
