Trying the long here. It's 10:30 am. A good time for a reversal to begin. This is going to have to be a swing trade. No stops or targets. Not part of my plans! Influence is a systematic trading rule I have. I didn't even run that system to see if it signalled!!!

As the trade was not working I became more unhappy with my reasons for entering it. Completely outside my plan. I even wrote about it so it's obvious that I knew it. It's a good thing it didn't work. I'm happy that the market puunished me. I flipped. Now for some more punishment for flipping!

Notes to self:
  • Stop my actions if I'm thinking that they are outside my plan.
  • Flipping is not necessarily bad. If it's intention is to correct a mistake made from bullet point above then it's okay but it may not be a good idea to execute the flip with a pair of market orders. Instead fight a little for price.

A view of my position, target and stop on the daily timeframe. I set this up to see what a short bias looks like on a big time frame rather than the intra-day I've been looking at. I've been thinking of trying swing trading instead of day trading.

Flipped again. I'm like a criminal with a rap sheet. What's one more crime? I think I need a clean slate.
IF the market gets up to yesterday's low then my account will be back to net zero.

All correlated markets up.
Fed Chair Yellen late yesterday said the Fed is on course to raise interest rates later this year, which suggests the Fed has confidence that the U.S. economy is strong enough to handle an interest rate increase.

I'm looking to get long in the 1940.50 area.

I moved my limit to 1936 and was filled shortly after the open. Instead of trying to trade short term today I'm trying to hang on longer. Thigs were going quite well until about 2pm. The health care sector is selling off 2%. I believe this is a buying opportunity. I added to my position making my average price 1931.50 on DayTrade2 account.

Entered long here on my one lot system after being stopped out. I'm betting on short covering at the end of the day. I think tthe worries over a government shutdown due to the Boehner exit is overdone.
Still long one lot on DayTrade2.

Which low will be tested?
Three targets:
1. The trend line at this 1883 area.
2. The session open/closes in August at the 1860 area
3. The August low 1825 area.

Initiating a long position with 1/2 of a two lot total.
I will track swing trades on a separate account from DayTrade2. This is in Swing2.
I'm looking at bonds and the rally in them seems exhausted... for now.

A lot of resistence to get through but if it does get through and clears the vwap then there's room to run... at least that's the way I see it.

Last hour of trading. It has been a big down day and I think I get get a little more to the short side. I'm trading against my core long swing position ( both sim AND the real one via UPRO ).

I closed the trade after I realized that the entry was not the best. I was looking at a 1.5 - 2.0 point gain as not enough... like it was a scalp ( I don't want to try to scalp ). But those small points were because of the entry. Too late to change the entry so I got out on what I see is a gift at this point. Market has already sold off a lot and I'm starting to get more bullish.

Swing dots and adxvma suggest a new short here but the volume ladder shows me a great deal of tradng occurred just below. Will that support the price?

Sold all my UPRO ( for small gain ) and got long 2 ES contracts.
Reasons:
1. I'm supposed to be long the 2 ES contracts on a systematic system I committed myself to trade. I exited them at break even at the Friday close because I thought that the selloff Friday would spill over into today. I'm happy to be correct.
2. More control over the positions in the ETH session ( although I'm not supposed to trade then ).
3. The UPRO accounts are reserved for my end of day systems and I need to keep the cash ready in case of a signal there.

I feel better aligning myself with my actual plan. However I admit I'm terrified!

Back long again ~1883 on my systematic trading system. I admit I was terrified of another plunge last night and I exited on that emotion. On the other hand, the fear ( or analysis? ) that led me to exit on Friday saved me more than I lost by last night's hiccup ( I'm calling my mistakes hiccups now? ).

2 lots long on DayTrade2 ( 2 after averaging down )
update: sold one lot for a 1 or 2 tick profit. I meant to exit both but made a mistake and then it was suddenly too late to exti the other so I'm holding one now...

The rhetoric I'm hoping to hear in the next couple of days:
1. revisited August lows. That's no longer an issue
2. end of quarter portfolio window dressing completed
3. notoriously weak Sept. over
4. issues with weak commodity prices subside
5. biotech and healthcare sector oversold
6. a little strength in the market will bring about media attention to bullish economists and fund managers predicting a much higher S&P by the year end

Initiated long on DayTrade2 account. Maintaining long on Swing2 account as well as my real accounts.
btw, I didn't get a chance to post yesterday's DayTrad2 trades. It was a good day. I did a bit of scalping as well. I intended to do the scalping on a separate account but I didn't really plan ahead of time to scalp.

Crude sell off spooked by weekly inventories report. I don't know why the market reacted with so much volatility on this report. The data series of weekly inventories is notorious for being "noisy". Perhaps because of attention to falling commodities prices in general over the past few days? Equities didn't blink.

I guess they got over it... BTW look at 6E. They're expecting more easy euros there.

I went off my automated system here and cloed my real long positions at this challenge of the cash open. I'm really hurting on my cash acconnts and I want to lock in the 20 points captured on each. I don't like this market action. We've seen reversals a lot lately and this system is not designed for frequent reversals ( as the long hiistory of the market doesn't have them ).
I hope I don't regret exiting.

It's been a nice rally but I'm done cellebrating. I'd like to see 1929.75 breached before I get too bullish again...
edit: on second thought it's possible I would start looking to short if we get above that.

With regard to LaGarde. She spooked the market out of this rally:
IMF's Lagarde: Global growth likely weak this year, modest acceleration in 2016
Thanks a lot!

Seems to be holding here at the cash open level. Flipped long again on Swing2.

edit: Phewy. I can't decide. I'm flat.

Quite a battle at this 1895 level. I'm marking it on my chart for future reference ( yellow line )
I remember 2112 was a similarly fought over level back on the 9-15 contract that was frequently re-battled over for weeks. Let's see if this 1895 level behaves that way in the future.

Closed Swing2 trade for ~2 point loss on bounce near w-vwap. I'm happy to get out after being underwater by a lot. I still like the short side over the long right now but I think we'll bounce from here.

Holding POC rather well. Out for now. Instead of looking for shorts off the D-VWAP I'm going to fade any moves to the edge of the daily range and/or go with any breakout beyond it.

I'm happy with the results I got on DayTrade2 today ( see previous post ). But the result does leave me with a problem:
How do I decided to exit a trade?

I'm not sure what made me exit each of these trades today. Maybe it was the random line under each. Maybe the price action seemed to slow down.

Whatever the reason my exits were not consistent with the my goal of holding for bigger moves like the one I wrote about

here

No matter, I don't have a reliable method to find the end of the trend.

After a quick trade in the pre-market I'm now trying to work a short down to 1875.
( Also traded on my Swing2 account for more points in pre-market ... now flat there ).

My thinking for going long is this:
Yes it was a bad payrolls number. That's priced in now.
Earnings season is coming. Expectations are low. I think we're priced to beat.
