Hello Everyone! Welcome to my @TopstepTrader Combine.

Me -
I've been trading for years. Never had a winning year. I've blown out my futures account about 7 times - if there is a club for doing that, I'm in it.

Change -
Up until the last few years I've been winging it and losing my ass off. I've changed my mind set - designed a profitable trading system that I've done every kind of Back/Forward test possible. Most importantly, completely changed my mindset to trust the charts and myself. But I'm still weak - I over trade.

Usage-
Today is the first day I'm applying it in realtime with something other than a 'sim' account - this new trading system and mindset(I stress this because it's so important).

Since I a big fan of TopStep and they give some sense of accountability without blowing too much of my own money during development, I've used them to develop all my Trading Systems over the last year or so. I've gone though ~10 building this system. However, the combines have been a dream come true. And without the help of this forum and the brilliant market technicians and programmers, it would not be possible to have designed a system I finally believe will change my trading future..we shall see. Ok, just wanted to give a tiny backstory, on to the good stuff.

Strategy BG-
Grab Strong reversals but mostly trade the trend.

Instrument-
CL

Platform-
NT7

Combines-
30K, 50K, 100K (They are in a single account group and I try to stay within the params of the 30K) This helps me reduce my risk and prevents over trading. But will not stick to this 100%. Will add to 50K and 100K positions when necessary.

Chart/BarType -
RJay renkospectrum ( brilliant by the way ) RenkoSpectrum | [AUTOLINK]NinjaTrader[/AUTOLINK] Bar Chart By RJay

Chart Time Frames
Renko setting 10003, 7002, 6001 (look it up - and you'll see from the charts)

Indicators For the Charts -

PriceActionSwingPro - @dorschden - a godsend

LaguerreRSI Multi timeframe Oscillator using xavMTFv1SlopeAlerts_10Plots (amazing work @Xav1029)

Polarized Fractal Efficiency Multi timeframe Oscillator

Herrick Payoff Index with LaguerreRSI oscillator w/ Fisher Transforms. <br>
My idea with this based on well known indicators. Kinda still working this idea out, interesting slopes on both. The green line is the LaguerreRSI weirdly normalized. I put in a lot of filtering options for the Blue Line the HPI - and the VWMA works gives the best inverse signal. And since we can't use Open Interest in realtime from a NT object - had to design my own version that's about 85% predicable output as using actual DT OI. You can opt out and use Open Close values. Will attach in a couple days. Herrick Payoff Index - Technical Analysis from A to Z just to see what the hell I'm talking about.

MAMA -http://www.mesasoftware.com/Papers/MAMA.pdf

d9ParticleOscillator_V3 -love it @TheWizard

Fisher Transform of Stochastic Oscillator thanks @Zondor You rock in so many ways.

anaCurrentDayVWAPV42 VWAP
@Fat Tails is the man I've used pretty much every indicator you've made at some point. Hands down, the best out there.

and I think that's it.

- Signal Engine
To keep it brief for now. I've designed a data capture system similar to @gomi's brilliant engine(And BarBar). It's not the same, but the closest idea I've seen on the forum. The whole thing is built into the PriceActionSwing indicator. I use MongoDb to capture Tick, Indicator and Statistical MTF data. I also query it for my signals and pretty much all my data. Just to give me a level of abstraction from NT. The signal arrows for each chart come from this datastore.(this i'll get into in a later post as well as it's quite complex - for peeps who are not software developers)

The main 3 Charts that I look at for real signals are the 7002 and 6001. Here are the charts. One is marked up with signal info.

My Job:
When I get a programatic signal (I'll get into the nuts and bolts of this in a later post) I check the charts for -
1. Intuitive Price Action (HH, LH ect..)
2. d9 Slope and Value
3. LagRSI Slope and Value
4. PFE Slope and Value
5. HPI Slope
6. Regular and Hidden divergence in a few indicators where it works best! - crap - didn't post my Div Check chart. Will tomorrow or in a little bit.
7. CCI Chart

NOTE: if the MTF versions of the above are sloping and not deviating, this is a great signal confirmation.

I'm going to leave it there and just wait for specific questions. But todays performance was not optimal, but it worked.

Largest Time Frame

Main Signals 1 Renko 7-2

Main Signals 2 Renko 6-1

CCI Confirmation

Combine Values from NT

Combine 50K

Combine 30K

There are a lot of vagaries here for brevity, so please start a discussion with me and I'll reveal all.

Cheers,

Mike

Hi traderlange

Congratulations on your combine and best of luck. Your charts look very good although I don't understand much but I am very curious about mindset change. Can you elaborate more about mindset changes whenever you get chance, no hurries. Cheers.

Hi traderlange

Thank you sir! I'm still working though my "mindset", but basically, I didn't trust myself or my code enough. I didn't realize when I made a trading error, and held onto losses to long or pulled out of a good one to early . or I didn't accept the fact that I should do a reversal (rare!), but did today for my best gain.

Basically, it boils down to confidence in my system and myself. Since it's not fully automated, I must analyze each signal so there lies ares of subjectivity that will train me to make better decisions. I'm not there 100% (can i ever be? no), but I'm learning to make a decision based solely on my system and rules, and trust it!

I must know that I'm never going to catch a top or a bottom, only take the highest success probability trades and let the trade play out. I'm programming some trails into the chart trader that will help, but for now, I want to make all my own entry/exit decisions manually (with the suggestions of my code).

I'll automate everything later (like I usually trade), but I have to learn to be a manual trader with discipline, period. That is my goal.

Today was not a great example of the above, yes, I was able to profit, but I got out of my winners early and missed some really good signals.

I hope this was helpful and not just a stream of consciousness? We'll see how the next 10 days play out!!

I'll get into much more detail regarding the charts, each indicator and the engine that drives the signals, but I can only type so much in a day. lol.

Cheers Mate and I hope your days are full of kick ass trading!

Thanks for taking time to reply. You have a great potential for success because you did know for sure which area you need improvement and you are working on it.

Wow..today was kind of a cluster for me.

Note to self: Don't manually trade 3 combines at once.I'm not sure what I was thinking , but it confused the hell out of me; even with the account groups. I got flustered and made some early mistakes. Also, trying to manage 3 does not help my tendency to overtrade - as what happened today.

Solution: I'm going to fully automate the 50K combine. And only trade the 30K 10Day and 100K Continuous manually. For the 30K I'm going to trade the CL (exclusively) 9AM 12PM CST. For the 100K, I'm going to trade the GC from 3AM CST - 9AM CST and piggyback the CL trades. There may be some overlap depending on setups.

That being said - here are my charts for the day. I mostly traded the GC on the 100K. Was up a G then gave back $100 about 5 min ago trading against the trend like an idiot - so I'm DONE for the day.

I've made notes all over the charts - I hope they make sense. Also, I'm included a chart on how I sometimes play/confirm GC signals using simple arbitrage on the DX/GC pair.

Enjoy!

7-2 Tick Renko

6-1 Tick Renko

GC DX 10Min Pair

NT PL

I'll upload the combine reports when they're avail later tonight. If you have any questions write me back on this forum and I'll reply asap! Hope your trading day went well!

Cheers,

Mike

good trading @traderlange. You have nice chunk of profit and that's all matter. All you need is repeat these again. Have a great trading.

Thanks Samm! That's the key, isn't it. Consistency! I gotta keep it up.

Today was great trading day. Netted around $1800. Earned $1230 Automated for the 50K combine- not bad for day one. And $580 manually for the 30K combine - 3 days in and <250 away from goal. If I remain consistent I should be able to pass all three over the next 7 days.

It's Cool New(updated from @alexJetski's code) Chart Trader Tool Day!!

The original source was an elite download, and my Journal is not in the elite section, so I'm posting the attachment here. Is that cool @Big Mike? While I do use it with my live trading, I'm hesitant to upload it to the downloads yet as I feel it's still in beta.

This is the original Brilliant work @alexJetski.

However, @alexJetski check it out, if you like the enhancements, feel free to upload it as an update. I commented out the L2 label - but feel free to add it back and make any changes you want if you version update. Again, you built a great framework. I plan on adding a lot more exit strategies now that there is a Trail/Slope/Trend exit framework in place.

This is the same indicator, but I've added:

NEW EXITS/TRAILS
1. SuperTrend trailing stop fully parametrized. Using @Fat Tails
2. Adaptive Laguerre Filter Trend Stop. If you have a file called "AdaptiveLF" replace it with the one attached or replace on the import.
3. Zero-Lagging Heiken-Ashi TEMA SlopeChange Exit
4. Profit and Loss exits. Set the dollar amount and let er rip.
5. Added tooltips for the exit parameters and some buttons
6. Have the Option to use a Hilbert Transformation for look back period values for the Adaptive Laguerre Filter Trend Stop & Zero-Lagging Heiken-Ashi TEMA SlopeChange Exit

Make sure AT interface is enabled. ALSO, while I use this in my trading, I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR LOSSES DUE TO THIS INDICATOR IN ANY WAY. Make sure you full get the hang of using it SIM and fully test for ALL bugs. (although I've done a lot of testing) trade at your own risk!!

Enjoy!!
