I began following Tony Peterson of The Intentional Trader in May 2014. I began by SIM trading their methodology using the indicators that I purchased from them. I started trading live with real money in September 2014 and will begin posting my trades and screen shots in this forum in October 2014 after I have gotten used to trading with real money using this method.
The purpose of this thread is to keep an electronic journal of the trades that I took. There will be screenshots and results posted with an explanation of each trade. My results may not reflect the results of a better trader using this method of trading. I will only show you my personal results. You will get the good, the bad, and the ugly. I do not work for The Intentional Trader but I am a customer.
My hope is to improve my trading and execution of this method. I do attend the live trading room and will try to be as pure to the setups taught by Tony Peterson as possible. I am human and will make mistakes but will do my best to execute the trades as they should be traded.
Please ask me questions or leave comments. I also post daily to another thread called "Trading Journal - Reversal Bars" in this same forum. I will continue to trade the reversal bars and post those trades on that thread also.

Since you are journaling about a vendor, I want to let everyone know this thread is not appropriate to discuss the vendor's performance, pricing, product, services, etc in this thread.
I will not discuss the performance, pricing, product, services, etc. This thread will only show my trades and may differ from those traded by others. I respect this site and the members. If there is ever any concern, please let me know. Thanks.

Looking forward to your journal and how you're doing using Tony's method.
Just in case you're interested, Tony just partnered up with SharkIndicators, so there should be some BloodHound templates available if you'd like to automate your trading with IT.

I have the SharkIndicators loaded as well. They will show up on my screenshots. I have not used them to automate the trades. I still like to be able to control the entries and exits. But I am impressed with the SharkIndicators so far.

I am posting these 2 trades I took yesterday to test the format and visibility of the charts. They were live trades that I took. I will only show live trades taken with real money. No SIM trades.
In my attachment you see my account performance counting from 25 of August when I was back from vacation.
I´am still trading 1 contract. If you can be profitable with one contract you will be with 2,3,4,etc...
I have not started posting on this thread yet. I will begin in October. I can add the account performance but my concern is that each posting may contain 3 -5 trades and may be too lengthy as it is. I will have to see how it goes. But I just posted 2 trades as an example and it took up a lot of real estate. We shall see...
Thanks Panda. I just don't want to muddy the water as I get accustomed to trading this method with real money. It is fast (1 min charts) and there are usually a lot of trades in a day. So there can be no room for hesitation, which usually comes with trading live money.
I will cap my trading at net 3 wins or net 3 losses per day.
I enjoy your other journal and am looking forward to this one. Out of curiosity, is this foray a result of your unhappiness with the relatively few trade signals you receive from your other technique?
Also, forgive me if you have posted this elsewhere, but have you outlined your trading history/background in another post/thread somewhere? I would like to learn more about you, if you feel comfortable sharing.
I am not dissatisfied with the few trades trading the Reversal Bar but I am always looking for a way to maximize my time in front of the monitors. I was looking at The Intentional Trader initially for one indicator to help with the Reversal Bars, but I liked their method and frequency of trading. Now I trade both methods at the same time. I use 4 monitors so I have enough screens to keep the two methods separate. But sometimes the 1 minute timeframe mixed with a longer timeframe is challenging.
My background and education are in banking and finance. I have always been interested in trading and decided to try trading options in 2005. I was running a finance company during the day so I traded at night for the next day.
In 2009, I decided to move into day trading. I started with Rob Hoffman and traded the MA's. After a while I joined with Anthony Drager and learned divergent trading. Then, I mentored with Joe Ross and learned to trade without indicators; and I still trade the Reversal Bars. Currently I am learning to trade from The Intentional Trader and also trade their method live. This journal will reflect all the trades I take using The Intentional Trader method. My hope is that I execute the trades as they are meant to be taken with this method.
Thank you for asking.

Yes there was. I took 1 trade but I am not posting regularly yet. I have put a couple of days up to see how the format would look. I will be posting daily starting October 1st.

GC: Long 1211.9. Opened 4T away from the pivot but within range. Took a little heat initially. +5

.
GC: Long 1209.9. Hesitated on entry and got a better price. Not a great setup since price closed too far above the LOD. I read it as a close above the pivot but ideally price should have been closer to the LOD, not the pivot. +5
Not a lot of momentum today. There were other technical setups but they lacked momentum so I skipped them. Still, I finished up for the day.
Very odd day. Could not get my charts to get historical data. All the indicators were not working properly so I stood aside.

TF: Short 1071.7. Got sucked into this volatility. Price moved so fast on the DOM I should have stepped aside. Market spanked me and I sat on my hands for the rest of the day. -7
DAX: Short 8809.5. My stop was the HOD. A better stop would have been 1 tick above the HOD since HOD was a resistance. I will pay better attention to that. I was stopped at the high tick and then price dropped to target. -7
CL: Long 81.51. SF + BH. Took 1 tick slippage on the loss. -8.
.
.
CL: Long 81.04. This was not a valid setup. It did not hit the zone. I thought it did and BH signaled, so I took it. -7
CL: Long 81.03. Next bar immediately after the last setup. I stopped trading after this loser. 3 net losses. -7
tradethetick,
Pardon my ignorance but are these live trades with real $? I'm asking because how do you deal with spread at such low timeframes? I see a lot of times you are profiting 5 ticks a trade, that's almost the entire spread! There's must be a piece of the puzzle I'm missing.
I'm new to trading so just trying to make sense out of things.
Yes it is real money and they are live trades. My cost is around a 1/2 tick ($4.50). I'm not sure how much you're paying in commission but if it is 5 ticks (about $50) I would find another broker for futures.
So far I am at +44 ticks which is about $440 per 1 lot. I have traded 39 times at a commission of around $175.50. The net after commission is approximately +$264.50. Not the best month.
This month had a very strange 3rd week. The 4 days after the Columbus Day were very choppy and sporadic. I think if I had 4 normal weeks I would have been closer to +70 ticks. My short term goal with this method is +88 ticks per month with 44 trades.

First, Thank you for taking the time to post your trading and results with live money. Greatly appreciated!!
I have been thinking about joining the Intentional Trader as well, so that is how I found your journal.
Curious, are you in their trading room as well to help you with learning entries etc?
Do you feel you need the full indicator package or is there just one or 2 that you seem to rely on the most?
I thought it would be a good idea to use fibonacci levels and watch for the Flash and/or Ricochet indicators to
help to get into the trade.
Also...overall...are you happy with their indicators/methods?
Looks like you are doing well. You take a $250+/month and start adding contracts...not bad.
Plus work on getting a higher winning trade percentage...all seems positive from what I see.
Again...a big thank you for the time you are taking to journal your results.
GC: Short 1171.7. Had medium blue Speed Ticks so was a little less conservative. +5
I picked today to stop trading DAX and NG (see below). I missed 2 winners in the DAX and 1 winner in NG. Figures...
I also added more aggressive setups (called Darkside) which is why there are some new lines on the chart. These are not part of the trading room nor are they Intentional Trader setups. But the setups do use some of their indicators. These setups require additional indicators and takes a lot of computer resources so I chose to remove the DAX and NG. I took 14 Darkside setups (SIM only) and had 10W 1L 3S. And I missed a few because I was not paying attention.

Really appreciate you taking the time to post your trades. I am also in the process of researching Intentional Trader and this is great info to review. Any chance we can talk on the phone so i can pick your brain a little before spending thousands of dollars on this system?
CL: Short 78.93. This was an unconventional setup. Medium blue ST No OBOS and No BH. +5
Darkside trades were 8W 4 L. Should have skipped 6 of them since the slope was too steep (>45 degrees). Would have been 2W 1L. I need to refine my skills here. That is why I'm simming these setups.

I'm a VIP in Tony's room too and I have created an indicator that will display the slope of the 8 EMA, it also changes color depending on how steep the slope is. Green - less than 45..... Yellow - 45 to 59 & red - > 60. It also shades between the 8 EMA & 13 EMA. Let me know if you are interested, I offer it to a VIP for no charge.

I do know that this is not the place and the time to do any overview about the room where you are trading, but I really would like to see some comment a before and after thing. Meaning you have been started live 1 month back. What is your feelings now, how you are planing to move forward. Is this your method or not? Do you want to do it alone, or you woul dlike to be in a room (any room) in the future? How much time are you spending / day with trading...
My side of the story is simple. And this is not the room classification I have been several room, but at the end I always wanted to do it alone. Ofc one side of the story to have a feeling of confident and to blame, other side of the story, to give myself a credit to do it. It is same like work. You can work for others dream, or you can work for your dream. And do not get it wrong. Not judgment, I am just amazed, your logs and journal!
I plan on staying in the room, mainly because trading can be very lonely and only traders seems to be able to talk to other traders. Everyone else just nods or nods off. I do not wait for the room moderator to call out the trades. I am already in position to enter but the room helps add confidence to my decision.
Trading is great in that you can expand without increasing your overhead. Just your contract size. But trading is definitely an individual venture. A well run room should aid the individual. Once it stops doing that, it is time to go.
The following user says Thank You to tradethetick for this post:
Thank you. I didn't "talk" much in the room today. Was busy watching your indicator and changing settings while trading (I know, I shouldn't multi-task but today was zzzfest.
CL: Long 77.98. Was able to get a better fill as price came down a little. Flash showed up on the bar too. +5
Darkside trades: SIM 17 setups. I missed 5 of them. I loser was not a valid setup. Took 8W, 3L, 1S. 66.67%. +16T. Goal is to have a 75% win rate. I am still working on my execution of these.

I have been studying the Intentional Trader videos on You Tube and appreciate your journal. Can you tell me what the black and white line (looks like a very jagged moving average) on your chart is? Thanks again for your work.
That is a CCI line. I added that to the charts for a variation of the Intentional Trader (IT) setups. I take additional trades outside the "approved" IT setups and I use the CI for those. The CCI line is not used for the IT trades that I am posting.

This was a mistake but I am going to log it. My chart had the wrong setting and I placed a trade that was not valid. This will remind me to check my charts before trading. Expensive lesson. I am shocked at myself and disappointed. Hopefully this costly lesson will ensure my future diligence.
The following user says Thank You to tradethetick for this post:
I haven't tried it on a higher time frame. Although when I initially looked at The Intentional Trader, it was because I liked one of their indicators. I was converted so to speak to the 1 minute time frame. I still trade the longer time frames with my Reversal Bar method but I don't use any indicators with that.
