Welcome to futures io.

Welcome, Guest!

This forum was established to help traders (especially futures traders) by openly sharing indicators, strategies, methods, trading journals and discussing the psychology of trading.

We are fundamentally different than most other trading forums:
  • We work extremely hard to keep things positive on our forums.
  • We do not tolerate rude behavior, trolling, or vendor advertising in posts.
  • We firmly believe in openness and encourage sharing. The holy grail is within you, it is not something tangible you can download.
  • We expect our members to participate and become a part of the community. Help yourself by helping others.

You'll need to register in order to view the content of the threads and start contributing to our community. It's free and simple, and we will never resell your private information.

Trade Journal

have not been in the markets at all this year from a futures perspective. too busy. My last sell in the markets was a equity position at ATH of this yr. Anyways futures is what i have loved and my passion for research...but it maybe that I will not trade at all this year due to time constraints and looking into few things from my excel perspective which am currently refining.

anyways have put on a few SIM trades last few days 7-10, 7-13, 7-14, 7-15, 7-16 which am posting due to nostalgia and i want to keep a note in my journal. SIM trades for me when trading are as good as real from a emotion perspective. But not putting on real trades currently due to other priorities.

Trade of either the chart posted or Matrix....but look at few things on the side all mostly from a volume perspective

The journal has no bias...bull or bear ...rather looks at markets unfolding. Also the thread should be just called trade journal for my ref...rather than prep for open. I dont need much time for prep as radar and few things tell me what i need

when posting live ...will mention so...else its all SIM for what it's worth

Welcome back.

Mike

Due to time constraints, please do not PM me if your question can be resolved or answered on the forum.

Need help?
1) Stop changing things. No new indicators, charts, or methods. Be consistent with what is in front of you first.
2) Start a journal and post to it daily with the trades you made to show your strengths and weaknesses.
3) Set goals for yourself to reach daily. Make them about how you trade, not how much money you make.
4) Accept responsibility for your actions. Stop looking elsewhere to explain away poor performance.
5) Where to start as a trader? Watch this webinar and read this thread for hundreds of questions and answers.
6)

was long almost at open which i closed fast. reason for long was a range expansion in breadth...which did not sustain

took a short....but eventually gave up 3pts... guess could not read into the down volume. session vol tot was 889k. initialy plan was to get out if yesterdays Open at 2113 was not sold thru with volume. should have stuck to that...in which case only would have made a point. But with scanty volume and poor breadth wanted to hold the short. what made it difficult was not able to read the machines cleanly today.

cheers n to next week

Futures Edge on FIO

What value do you place on the webinars on FIO?

had gone in 2 cnts...last 30mins....based on tick and what breadth was doing ...wasnt a edge.. closed a few ticks in the bag

no prep for the day...was late...missed coffee...not how i like to start. went in knowing it had to be a range day on SPY looking at yesterdays EOD even if futures went down....just did not realize that futures had crept higher in OVN. anyways no prep is not good.

1st few trades were long, recovered by having to put size...not what i like doing as have lost big before with size but that was w/o context. only reason size was put looking at few internals and net shorts at the time. anyways walked away with more than 16pts....but not what i need.

also to add on was busy looking at excel as am doing stuff in there...and got busy on that. definitely not a time to put a trade while doing development stuff... tomorrow is another day.

got to split like now...very busy day ahead. was long pre market at 5.15am PST solely based on EOD yesterday. Did not hold long as need to move on today w/o any headache.

EOD yesterday was a dream....since ES got banged but internals held. EOD showed price down with similar volume but AD was better.

if was holding...ofcourse without pos going against....the target was 2116 day before's low and 2118 yesterdays open. If that was taken out it would be 2118 -21 21 being yester high.

On the low buy was 2094-95 if selling was to come in....which was Low print of 7/16.

was looking at the EOD data...still in range. Slightly more declines for the NYSE but seems to be still in a range.
Looking at market structure and price/volume thinking that there is a good chance of a brkout and ARMs index at 0.97

If so will keep an open mind.(This is no reco....just an observation...which will be just a point of reference...nothing to do with what will turn out during the day as markets are random)
Am penning to keep my mind flexible. I am ofcourse biased on EOD...but if it does not play will be ready to turn...but still look to the sky at the moment and with the overall trend. But also flexible that big stock such as AAPL can create distortions.

something i have not done for a while. Going for a swing. needed to put this on to see my system robustness.

exit pt out will be anywhere above todays High..or exit will be around 2080

4 cnts avg price 2102... there is always risk

but need to stick with what i am observing...always can be wrong

on risk side -4.2k on reward side 2.3k to todays high....hold past that at 2124 brks RR to 4.2k

still looks like holding onto a falling knife.

slew of market numbers for tomorrow Economic Calendar

still looking for a market ramp up as looking into stats this could be a flush of weak hands... but can go either ways as stats can have a edge or not.

only keeping a bigger timeframe in mind ....
