Got in with 1-tick slippage. Started going south within milliseconds .. had a quick come-back and unfortunately missed my PT 8 with 1 tick (touched 76.01). I was late in realizing my PT was at 76.00 .. Had an initial SL @18 and moved it to 1 tick above PP so that it had more room. Well, got hit.

Note: Whoever took the trade and had a fullstop cushion at 41 according to the rule .. got hit too .. sigh ..

Lessons learned:

1. Missed noticing PT at 76.00 because of the slippage.
2. Need an early exit strategy .. 20+ SL (even not fullstop) has been too much to swallow .. I'm very sorry to say that .. 2 in a row ..

Mr Market has taken most of my monthly gains .. I've closed down my CL workplace. Let me clear my petite head a little ..

Beth

Initial Balance: 1113.00 - 1104.50 (8.50 points)
Value Area as at 10:45 am: 1111.75 - 1108.75 - 1105.25 (6.5 points)
Price opened @1110.00
Today's High and Low as at 10:45 am: 1113.00 and 1103.50
VPOCs: Top 1128.50 and Bottom 1091.00 (1106.50 was touched)
Overnight High and Low: 1110.75 and 1101.00

Remember my earlier post on IB about its breaking the range? I experimented them last week (sorry that I forgot to mention it), ie placing a pair of OCO 1 tick above and below them with PT based on the range (15-20%). Quite successful. At least the historical stats back it up .. not from me. Have no plan to trade this strategy live yet. It's on my log.

Trade only High Probability trades!

After closing down the CL workplace, I opened the ES one. Placed a Short and did not like it after entry. Got out with 2 ticks. Then things looked good again and re-entered.

Made a few phone calls .. watered our plants .. Nelson was back for a quick lunch and just left for his afternoon leads. We talked a little about the CL trades this week (2 winners and 3 losers incl 2 big ones in our eyes though I hadn't been using the suggested fullstop). We reached a mutual consent that 20+ tick SL cushion does make us think too much .. It's not affordable to us as of this moment.

For this week's result Mon to Thu: -35 ticks before commission
For the monthly result (5 to 29 Jul): 20 ticks after commission

We are going to keep the 20 ticks for the month. I will not be trading CL this afternoon and tomorrow (we have Dr appointment). I will do a more thorough review this weekend and map out my next move. Time to wear a thinking hat again ..

Just noticed my thread is a 5-star one?!! Guess some of you try to cheer me up! Thank you.

I read Big Mike's post on another thread sharing how he simplied his life.

I did too .. getting married .. relocated to Cambridge (from Toronto) .. developed a new career (incl trying out an organic venture .. still stuck with the products) .. .. Married life definitely is simpler and quieter. Minimal interaction with anyone except Nelson. No shopping (not that I'm a shopaholic), no TV (his receivers have not been working for months - glad that I am not a TV fan), .. .. Do I miss the materialistic things? No No No ..

I only miss the financial freedom I used to enjoy. I believe there're ways to resolve it .. Glad that I still have a cushion and can buy some time .. I am going to learn how to create a v-clip with music background. I did create a PowerPoint SlideShow to energize our subconscious to attract $$. Love to have some music to liven it up.

Do not have a big appetite for lunch .. though my belly is growling. Let me make something quick ..

No more blabla from me sorry .. Continue enjoying your day.

More practice in the afternoon. 4 Range is the primary one with the CCI one to detect trend change.

2 2-contract and 1 1-contract trades with PTs @4/6 and SL @6 (for the second contract, SL to 1 tick favor when the first PT is reached). 2 winners and 1 loser (I bailed out at 4 ticks when it's not looking good). Total 6 ticks before commission

6 ticks in the morning (2 1-contract trades - both winners) and 6 ticks in the afternoon = 12 sim ticks LOL!

I'm glad that my old friend still likes me .. smile .. Me2! Done with my sim practice to boost my morale a little.

Beth (No real/sim trading Friday morning. No afternoon schedule. If I'm back before 3:00 pm, will do more sim practice.)

We have the Advanced GDP news at 8:30 am which will certainly move the market + 4 medium ones.

Currently price trades around 1091 (over 5 points drop from Thu Close @1096.75) .. too soon to tell if it may gap up or down when the market opens.

Have a Successful day.

Here it comes the weekly trade log:

Mon -6 (1 trade)
Tue 14 (2 trades)
Wed -20 (1 trade)
Thu -23 (1 trade)
Fri No trading

Total -35 before commission (2 winners and 3 losers)

I officially started my Futures daytrading career on 5 July. The monthly result 5-30 July: 20 ticks after commission. I'm glad that it's a Green month which's behind the reason not trading today esp having 3 losers this week. I like some advisors' money management suggestion that one should consider only risking maximum 1/3 of his/her gains. Continued trading on Thu and decide to end the month a green one has been a good trading decision for me.

Will come up with a revised trading plan for the coming month (August) after a weekend review. It's a public holiday here next Monday. Not sure if it's an American holiday too?! Will do my homework.

Enjoy a Successful day everyone!

Upon our return, the Long and Short opportunites I might consider would be 1098.50 (breaking all 3 recent LHs since they're so close together) and 1093.75 (2 ticks below the recent HL). Did not place a pair of OCO and was quite occupied with some post-Dr follow-up issues. Well, you can see from the enclosed that the Long could have worked .. smile ..

Lots of thinking and planning this weekend. Will be back with a revised trading plan .. haha ..

Take care and enjoy a Beautiful weekend. Here the temperature will be around 25.

1. Trades for the Week

They're all executed according to the trading rules (A grade) except not all had the suggested SL cushion. I believe I had 2 Outside Bar trades (1 winner and 1 loser). Bear in mind that there are no 100% profitable systems .. 80+% profitable are good and it's up to the trader's trade/money management skills to make it IMHO.

2. Trader (Me)

I'd like to give myself a B+. Why the additional "+"?

1) No racing heart
2) Minimal numbed fingers for the losing trades
3) No fear or panic for the whole week
4) No hesitation to place the required Stop order(s) when we had a valid signal esp the one I agreed/liked
5) Did not lose any zozo and absolutely no regret after Wed and Thu trades

I still feel fine after the first "red" week! Do I like it? Of course not! It's part of the package .. smile ..
