I stopped journaling a while back because i was in a routine and it was same and to be honest i got bore of it because my trades were same my risk reward all was same for a long time. But now things are different and because they are different i needed to journal them to help me navigate i wanted to write this journal when i came back to trading but because of the events that followed i had to wait a while.

Short Recap. Everything was going well till november with that i mean was all to plan get one trade in get the ticks and get out all was going great .. Then had to take a huge time off and when i came back by then everything changed. Due to some shifts and major changes in personal life for 1st time in 2 years my mentality shifted from being content with what i earned to expand as quick as i can and with that mindset i set to start trading again this year ..

flawed beginning 14th Feb- A week earlier then i planed to trade .. but i had to get back in trading 3 months off was the longest i have been away from trading of any sort in last 4 years .. With changed mindset i started off trading and increased my risk from 1$ too 2$ every 500$ [the problem with this move was that i already had chained my legs when i had increased my risk too 1$ from 0.5 a year back]. Traded for 5 hrs that day [before this day for last 2 years max i trade was for an hr] Lost 60 ticks hit my daily loss limit called it quit. The problem with the loss was that because of my increased risk loss was also more the it used to be .. which was fine because i always knew what to expect if i hit my loss limit .. the problem was i just was not ready for it i just did not feel like trading next session.

By not ready i do not mean i did not expect to hit the loss or it was huge to handle .. by not ready i meant that i was too tired with all the restrictions i faced by increasing my risk 2x or even 1x .. trading was not fun anymore it was work .. and all the fun came from researching and back testing . And i was not ready to keep it that way which sadly for me i did not realize till i lost. To Sum up i was down 60 ticks on 2x size and after that instead of coming back tomorrow and covering that loss i wanted to go back to the start with no restrictions on what to trade and what not to trade [ by increasing my risk i had to trade in restricted manner ] So i had to change my plans again and still there was still change in personal situation which i needed to take care of..

So now instead of trading 2$ for 500$ i downshifted to trading 1$ every 1000$. My 60 tick of loss now was 240 ticks. and also to keep the profit in check increased my daily goals, 1st time in 2 years[ This is the unknown route]

I have no clues what all this changes are gonna do to me mentally or trading wise .. is it sustainable i have no ideas .. i have seen some good traders out here and seen them do it day in day out but for me its completely different .. i dont like changes in trading not even a little but this time around i am forced to change my mindset my philosophy everything and i have no ideas how all this will unfold .. I guess only time will tell.

Currently trading is going well only traded 7 sessions after feb 14th the loss has been covered and now i can move on ..

Feb 28th- Started trading before open and was looking for a move up before we could finally break down[higher timeframe were short but smaller timeframe looked for retracement up till resistance] .. took a trade and was all set to exit and net went down primary and backup both went down and by the time i could call trade desk and get the positions liquidated market moved a quick move down and i ended up 10. was completely pissed called up the tech support of my internet company and started firing left and right .. after heated conversation got them to change my line to temp working connection and started back trading.. took another trade but this time market went against my entry and took me out lost 10 ticks .. got back in again still nothing had changed from open and market was still poised for a move up .. this time .. market gave follow through and exited the trade for 40 ticks. My exit was per plan at longer term resistance. I called it quits after that trade .

Took the short before open and done with 40 ticks .. Exited at the support from the low, probability favor move up from here .. while that of market breaking the low and that of a move like yesterday are very low .. So just gonna enjoy watching markets for rest of the day .. !! hope you all have a great session ahead.

Do you think journaling now is going to change your trading in itself for the better? I mean before you had not but still was moving in right direction. Make everything the same as before? Just wondering.

There is a huge difference between now and then for me .. then i was set in a rhythm i new what i needed to do and was set basically doing same stuff again and again now its tricky because now my daily tick target is doubled and risk is same tick wise .. the problem with this is that my trading hours, trades everything also increases ..So a small change is actually a major change right now and as i stated this is now something i wished for but something i am forced to do right now and that's fine but to navigate through all this changes a journal is a great tool, it does help to record and also later on zoom on mistakes and also will provide solutions for it when needed.. So lets see as always time will tell but for right now this seems great idea.

I look at many set of charts front 100 ticks till 100k ticks.. My trades depend on trend setups and where they are forming.. Generally I look at anywhere from 100 till 4k for setups and trade off them anything higher is just for watching.

Over past few months i have worked with many traders, Some great other very talented and few just don't get it.
Rules and everything is important in trading but not enough, i know a trader who follows all the rules so rigidly that he has left no room for markets to take a breather he doesn't have an idea what to do if that set of rules don't work. The reason i state this here is an Idea is most powerful thing you can have in trading. Everyone have got there rules and system and most of them know what the hard stats are but still many find it difficult to convert in live trading sessions they just cant match the back test results .. that's because they don't have an idea what to do when they rules or the 1st trade don't work they don't have a backup. See you need to have an plan an idea of what market is communicating with you what your primary trade setups are going to be and what your secondary setups will be if primary fails .. You then need to explore those ideas with raw data from the market and then finally you need to execute them. Trading is all about probabilities but those stats are based on a system and that came from and idea a thought. Ppl are trying so hard to become profitable that they forget at the end it all about probabilities and that stats are based on ideas. Try it for a few weeks and see what difference it makes to your trading it will convert you completely from some one who is complaining why always me .. you will become yea i know whats going to happen next and you will act on it ..

There is a reason why all major hedge funds or prop groups ask you to write down your plan, there is a reason why all the big traders do what they do because they have an idea they know there pros and cons they know there rules but most imp they have an idea and they wait for the market to sync with that idea and then they act on it to make money ..

AN IDEA WILL CHANGE YOUR TRADING FOR GOOD.. TRY IT

Okay before posting that 4k chart i took a small long off 100 tick chart support ended that trade in be ,
2nd trade was short as posted on 4k chart which was similar to yesterdays trade just today it did not wanted to break down yet. Added on to that trade and exited for 36 ticks net.
3rd trade Reason for exit was support on mid charts 1k and so on and took a long of that market danced around and i got completely bored and hungry [dinner time] so quit for 6 ticks. and then it shooted upside [just waiting for me to go :@] Hehe Net profit for the day 40 ticks. .. anyways had fun . Hope you all had an excellent trading session as well ..
If any questions please post them here .. Thanks

-Jinhar

Note- 1st chart is 100 tick chart and rest both are 1k.

There is still an outside chance that this setup might work but it will need further confirmation , thats break of the swing low as marked in chart.

So opened charts and was scanning for setup 4k saying long 10k saying short and were at support on 4k the only little problem with long was that 1k had just shifted to short and all other smaller time frames were in sync with 1k and 10k . so i decided to go with the flow and took shorts...
1st trade - 90.56 took short and market took me out very quickly [ greedy of me .. tried to get in on smaller time frame push] -11 ticks.
2nd trade - 90.67 entered trade of resistance on 500 chart by this time 100 tick was going in opposite direction ..
added on lil later 90.58 once i got confirmation from 100 tick but price just kept going up and down up from where i added on down from few ticks below my stop i kept on checking various cycles and time frames waiting for some confirmation either side so i could decide about my exit.. finally it broke down and exited 1st trade at 90.38 and also exited 2nd by mistake at same price. net 37 ticks.
3rd trade -90.38 went back again in the market still sure market going down to my target and exited that at 90.25. 13 ticks.

Net profit for the day around 50.

Hope you all had fun trading

Minor bump in plans .. was sick last week and i decided to try something which i wanted to try for a long time
and it backfired .. and in that process i lost quite a few chunk of my profits from previous few sessions writing it here so that i dont again go into research mode .. thats the small diversion .. and now for major diversion..

I read a book recommended by a friend who i respect and it shared a lot of light on what was happening with my trading for last few years now and how it was negatively affecting my trading in sense i was not able to get full potential out of it .. So for now m going to shift to the advice which is given and take it from there .. The only problem is that it has thrown out everything i trusted in the bin .. So it will be intresting to see how all shapes up from here on .. Hope you all had a great week.

Before the open we were at resistance on higher time frames but smaller time frame was against short so waited for it to get in sync before taking a short .. from there on it was straight forward it hit my target which was 61.8 extension of the move on the higher time frame and i called it quits for today. Hope you all too had a great session.

Completed one month of trading for this year and as i said earlier its a flawed start and right now overall i am in red....

Going forward :- I trade in parts that's few months and then and m done and i shift my attention to long term. This year as i explained earlier forced changes i wanted to increase number of months i trade short term and initially i was thinking something like 9 months this year but last month's trading review and m confident i wont be able to put in that many months maybe next year but not this year , So for this year i will be shifting to 6 month plan .. starting Next month 14th till july then a break of a month and start again in august. Till then i am going to try to get back my account back in shape.

That's all planning now to changes in trade management, i am going to use fixed trade management of all in / scale out ... till now it was all in all out or scale in / all out.

Money management - 1% risk per trade . 5% risk per day.

Will update any changes before 14th of april.

Hope you all are having a great time trading.

Some traders who i share most of my trading details asked me question y change something thats working fine .. y read a book and question what you know and try to change ..

Well the thing is normally i have a single huge draw dawn days in past due to euphoria , overconfidence etc .. and i recover from it .. This time also i will recover from it but the problem is this year i already have 3 of them that's tripled since last 2 years .. and that's the reason for concern .. and that's y all changes because to be honest i am tired of always having to dig out of it in the past i never cared as my friends stated i did not wanted to change something working but this time around its different the pressure is higher then usual and i need to completely remove that period out of my trading and hence all this changes. Will it work or no i have no ideas i can just bet on it. Here is a graphical form of what m talking about.

Well Today was the day which i was waiting for the first test to see if i had change or not , today i went in drawdawn early on as market was choppy and 1st trial of the changes which i am trying to bring to my trading not going into euphoric zone and overextending losses by adding to them or trying to scale into losses like in past... Today i was composed followed the new money and risk management, went down as much as -55 and then recovered it back and ended +10, 8 trade 2 win 6 losses.
so overall really happy with the progress made in short time. Hope you all had a better session then i had .. Thanks

Traded today took 1 trade short at the open and was done for the day. Slight change of plans instead of trading full size from april 14 going to start at may 1 [ trading with higher lots, default from last year]. Need to get little more screen time before i start.

Tried taking a longer term play at the open just market was in no mood then to give a follow through [it did go up afterwards just it needed a detour first]. I was fine with it took a short on the breakout and hold on to it till yesterday's low and also major support from higher time frame. Done for the day with that single trade.

Longer term play's are very interesting and could help in day trading a lot if you know to sync them .. Here are two longer term plays which i am looking at , right now we are in range as marked in the chart yesterday and today's low is a 23/50 retracement zone on higher time frame which is significant .. for market to move lower we need to break that low if we do then we are heading at the minimum to 94.60 or 93.70. on the upside its little tricky as its packed with resistance but if we do break then 98.30/99.50 are the next stops. Lets see what we can get out of this ..

may is coming and i am planning to go live for this year ... as i said earlier i had an minor detour at the start and i tried to change many things which i should not have , back to basics for me back thats taking 1-2 setups a day.

Daily target - 20 ticks.
daily loss - 40 ticks [Hard stop]
Overall target - 2500 ticks.
Instrument- Crude Primary. Secondary - Euro , Es
Setups - Primary [Trend setup A ]. Secondary [Resistance play through higher trend]

Basically i just want to go back to normal days like last few years trading whole session is not for me trading without a daily target is not for me my normal days are simple trade for an hour get your daily goals then relax and watch the markets that's what i am going to do should have done 1st place .. but that's all past . new session is coming and coming fast .. Let's see how this goes..
