here is the 2 min A&D chart i use for giving positive or negative movement -notice the green dotted line is the near zero balance area -

the move started above my 8 factor and past thru my 12 factor

the overall move was good solid uptrend signals

and if using this you may have just held on knowing you were holding the 10 factor level

now in reguards to this post - what if we were to dial in our ma's so there were no minor breaks -what 2 ma's would accomplish -
the lower would most likely be higher to flatten out the movement somewhat -but how high would the higher ma' have to go -and would it be a good dial in for the next 10 days?

last evening I had a 45 min skype chat with john2000 -this is a chart in response to our conversation -basically about charting sideways uptrends -

the chart shown is tuesday for about 1 hour in time from 10:20 est

1- is long signal

2-short signal with price bar @ the ma trendline cross -short would be in the area of 1363.50 with a stop at 1364.50 (4 ticks well inside our 7 tick max)

3-notice how in the sideways slop the ma broke back above the priceline
creating a long signal @ 1364 giving us a 2 tick loss but putting back on the correct trend side of the trade (long64stop63)

4-is first uptrend line

5- new trendline after jump

6/7 -exact same type setups as described-

this helps with tight reversal setups and not taking a full 7 tick stop -capital protection

the original entry held for ( 1) for the full move of 20 ticks but how could you know that it would -its great practice for getting in and out

also notice the pink trendline is the 1 now in play on the chart -i often keep the active or floating trendline a different color till its completed its move

now remember -when you dial in-- stick to a 7 tick stop-- -in other words the pattern has to work so it does not increase risk -

a good jumper example -
notice how after the jump the trendline can face downwards

there will be only 1 trade for F16 today - i feel she has and optic nerve connected to her back side and it gave her a crappy outlook on the charts -F16 tried a long at 62.75 and took her full 7 tick stop -
F16 broke her distance rule -her trade had 9 ticks of risk -she failed to exit or reverse at the jumper break--
now she did keep her 7 tick exit in tact -so she is doing well protecting her capital
