Welcome to futures.io.

Welcome, Guest!

This forum was established to help traders (especially futures traders) by openly sharing indicators, strategies, methods, trading journals and discussing the psychology of trading.

We are fundamentally different than most other trading forums:
  • We work extremely hard to keep things positive on our forums.
  • We do not tolerate rude behavior, trolling, or vendor advertising in posts.
  • We firmly believe in openness and encourage sharing. The holy grail is within you, it is not something tangible you can download.
  • We expect our members to participate and become a part of the community. Help yourself by helping others.

You'll need to register in order to view the content of the threads and start contributing to our community. It's free and simple, and we will never resell your private information.

Just trade like normal, and post after the trade - if posting is distracting or altering your trading.

Takes a lot of practice to post publicly that you'll be long or short, and then decide that was a bad call and take the trade off --- and admit 'defeat' to the crowd

Mike

Due to time constraints, please do not PM me if your question can be resolved or answered on the forum.

Need help?
1) Stop changing things. No new indicators, charts, or methods. Be consistent with what is in front of you first.
2) Start a journal and post to it daily with the trades you made to show your strengths and weaknesses.
3) Set goals for yourself to reach daily. Make them about how you trade, not how much money you make.
4) Accept responsibility for your actions. Stop looking elsewhere to explain away poor performance.
5) Where to start as a trader? Watch this webinar and read this thread for hundreds of questions and answers.
6)

Thanks Mike...

It is somewhat of a distraction. I'll tone that back a little bit...but integrity is big for me and I'm used to being naked in the crowd...lol Nowhere to hide on the floor! So you lose your insecurity real fast. I make usually on seven of ten over the span of a month. IMO being open book about what you do well and what you screw up will encourage guys to add their ideas without reservation...that will produce good fruit and hopefully help everyone.

...plus there is the butterfly affect for those of us easily distracted. I am reading your posts instead of reading my charts. Oh new shiny post.

Nice journal. I like seeing the thought process. Yes confirmation bias is crazy how it works...can wreak your day.

I can justify...

Futures Edge on FIO
the long in light of the rumor or likelihood of Asian central bank being bid at the 1.2650 level. Watching the tape and collecting "data" that may indicate "next moves" of other participants is part of my game. There is decay to the long side premises here but expanding risk a bit works better for my frame of mind than the evil twist of back and forth catabolization.

Sold!

one at 1.2675. Remaining two are protected by a profit lock stop. Targets 1.2680 and 1.2689. Taking the kids to school..that is an off the reservation activity...but stops and targets rest.

at the 1.2680 target and at 1.2676 as soon as i walked back in. So =42 ticks against the -21 ticks from the twist and I'm +21 ticks...not excellent but back on track.

How is it going to set up now?

Reluctant but S @1.2665 only a one lot as I see the immediate st trend against that view. Also, aware that a comment at any time can jump us real quick. Aware of the 200 period just below as well. Will feel better after break of 200 and trend line confluence there.

Lightning on the g.m.o.o.h. button...get me out of here!

profit lock in almost immediately.
