Welcome to futures.io.

Welcome, Guest!

This forum was established to help traders (especially futures traders) by openly sharing indicators, strategies, methods, trading journals and discussing the psychology of trading.

We are fundamentally different than most other trading forums:
  • We work extremely hard to keep things positive on our forums.
  • We do not tolerate rude behavior, trolling, or vendor advertising in posts.
  • We firmly believe in openness and encourage sharing. The holy grail is within you, it is not something tangible you can download.
  • We expect our members to participate and become a part of the community. Help yourself by helping others.

You'll need to register in order to view the content of the threads and start contributing to our community. It's free and simple, and we will never resell your private information.

@Big Mike

I was thinking that I could start a "spoof" journal...one where I buy the low and sell the high for size across numerous products every day. One where I capture like 5 times the ADR in any particular product...all backed up by wonderful and beautiful charts.

Would that be fun?

You should start a journal where you short AAPL until it goes to 0.

**PS AAPL is a pump and dump!

Seriously...

laughing out loud!

I'm just going to move on from that debate Mike. The final thought for me is, if a guy using NT clicks executions, grabs a screenshot to include partial acct number and posts that along with whatever visual or dialogue, I will tend to believe what I see. Though that could still be faked, it seems so simple...in fact the simplest way to instant relative credibility...it does make you wonder, why not?

Nope, not a good idea. I am speaking from experience where users were banned in the past for faking this, and the problem is if you set this as a standard then the fakers will capitalize on it even more than now and the less experienced users don't know better and think it is real.

You can make a NT sim account look identical to a cash account with a few seconds of work, one time. Not a good idea to use this as a standard.

Mike

Due to time constraints, please do not PM me if your question can be resolved or answered on the forum.

Need help?
1) Stop changing things. No new indicators, charts, or methods. Be consistent with what is in front of you first.
2) Start a journal and post to it daily with the trades you made to show your strengths and weaknesses.
3) Set goals for yourself to reach daily. Make them about how you trade, not how much money you make.
4) Accept responsibility for your actions. Stop looking elsewhere to explain away poor performance.
5) Where to start as a trader? Watch this webinar and read this thread for hundreds of questions and answers.

No problem.

I have Closed the other thread that you are discussing here, so this is a note to everyone to respect that decision and to not continue the discussion here in your journal.

Re: Journals and Blogs ...

Re: Journals and Blogs ...

@wldman

The idea is that you learn from your mistakes .. right ? The nice thing about the out of balance approach is that we all learn from your mistakes , questions and uncertainty ... esp about the approach taken to solve them.

Spoof journals and BS merchants are 10 a penny. Flash in the pan contributors and talkers too. On the other hand, public head scratching, out loud thinking and model building are valuable.

If I want a (very annoying) spoof journal, I will ask my wife what she would have done at the end of the day when I show her the chart. She gets it right every time !

Borrow some thick skin from Big Mike and feel the support of the silent many.

It means that you might have to go here and download the "latest" version ..

I upgrade from time to time to the "time tested" version but it seems that this is not enough for now ..

https://www.interactivebrokers.com/en/?f=674&ib_entity=uk

There is a futures.io (formerly BMT) thread dealing with this - follow their lead.
