Welcome to futures.io.

Welcome, Guest!

This forum was established to help traders (especially futures traders) by openly sharing indicators, strategies, methods, trading journals and discussing the psychology of trading.

We are fundamentally different than most other trading forums:
  • We work extremely hard to keep things positive on our forums.
  • We do not tolerate rude behavior, trolling, or vendor advertising in posts.
  • We firmly believe in openness and encourage sharing. The holy grail is within you, it is not something tangible you can download.
  • We expect our members to participate and become a part of the community. Help yourself by helping others.

You'll need to register in order to view the content of the threads and start contributing to our community. It's free and simple, and we will never resell your private information.

With Janet...

scheduled in 8 min or so I'm thinking the better discretion now is to walk for a few min. .3802 sale is okay, but what is the risk .3830? in exchange for what .3787...not going to do it.

Any input or opinions , especially on the first question from today?

DB

Nothing done...

and feeling pretty lucky that the sell never seemed clean. The negative, I guess is that I watch the bids come without a single news item and take the thing 35 higher. So nothing done again...and while that seems old it is better than one of the other outcomes today.

Anyone have anything on the original question about trend side trade governor? This would be interesting now as the day seems to be a "flip" day.

Hey...

@perryg

the ma's are 8 and 55.

Originally I was using the change in slope of the difference of the two, but not sure that is necessary.

BTW, look at that aforementioned risk level on the short side of 1.3830...I'd have top ticked the stop and that would have sucked. Sometimes you are the pigeon and sometimes you are the statue.

Modified Bands

Futures Edge on FIO
@wldman,

Is it possible for you to share the indicator that you're using for the modified bands? If so, can you please provide your settings. Thanks.

Sure...

@eminitrdr

The modified bands are anaBollingerUniversal which can be found here in futures.io (formerly BMT). Settings:

The first iteration used sma, then ema. I use Gauss_4 because I like a hair trigger...lol. The Gaussian filter keeps the bands very close to price. Other ways to use a "firmer trigger" would be to expand the band distance from centerline by increasing the std dev.

Note:

This application is purely a trigger level visual aid for timing trade entry. It is not a relative measure of anything and it's mathematical value is not related to anything or a consideration in anything...visual aid for possible trade trigger.

Some guys are...

going to read "How we Decide", a popular nueroscience book from 2009 and then discuss the content as it relates to prep and execution. If anyone else is interested in that, let me know. Easy read, not technical, very insightful. I'd guess like one chapter a week with discussion in this journal thread.

Before you do that, you may want to check out its wikipedia page which states the following:

"On March 1, 2013, following revelations that Lehrer has been caught in numerous falsifications in his œuvre of writings, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt announced the book was taken "off sale" after an internal review."

This, however, is considered a seminal piece of work on the subject.

Ha...

though ironic, that does not really concern me as it is not the accuracy of specific content that holds the value for me.
Rather it is the application of a larger metric that transcends...imo, of course.

But I will look at the other item that you suggest.

That is interesting.

@srgtroy

I'll read that. Thanks for the suggestion.

One of my favorites has been Dr. Laurie Santos:
