Welcome to futures.io.

Welcome, Guest!

This forum was established to help traders (especially futures traders) by openly sharing indicators, strategies, methods, trading journals and discussing the psychology of trading.

We are fundamentally different than most other trading forums:
  • We work extremely hard to keep things positive on our forums.
  • We do not tolerate rude behavior, trolling, or vendor advertising in posts.
  • We firmly believe in openness and encourage sharing. The holy grail is within you, it is not something tangible you can download.
  • We expect our members to participate and become a part of the community. Help yourself by helping others.

You'll need to register in order to view the content of the threads and start contributing to our community. It's free and simple, and we will never resell your private information.

I felt uneasy with the ST trend. Wanted a lower low around 73-70. The idea being take your pain with trend not against trend. So I got involved with ES and with the children getting ready for school. Ultimately though I am the guy with the mouse, the experience and the responsibility to get it done. Total fail on that one guys.

The rules guys...

@rk142

@podski

Have made some interesting points that initiated a self evaluation process. I would be well served and I believe a better trader if I applied some basic standard rules. Past that I'm going to find someone to "test" a rules based idea as a stand alone method.

wldman...

Futures Edge on FIO
though he is fighting, is still net -$2000 year to date. The number is nothing, what is critical is that I'm not trading well and worse...I'm not having any fun.

So the big picture shows that in the last 15 years, I have had three losing years including 2013 ytd. This year -$2000 is perhaps the most frustrating as +$2000 is normally considered a "nothing done" week. No consistency, no enthusiasim and worse, no fun.

Wldman looking for answers.

@wldman

Are you primarily trading 6E?

Its been a tremendously tough nut to crack this year,

Personally if I were forced to trade the euro I would be sizing down until we get some macro catalyst to breath some fresh oxygen over the embers.

Also if $2000 is nothing gained then -$2000 is nothing lost. 2013 ain't over yet.

Right...

but in context -$2000 is brutal considering +$2000 is quite a typical day. So -$2,000 versus an expectation of being $1500-$2000 per day...no joy in whoville!

6E and ES..

@addchild

Even with QE infinity and the tremendous run in equity I'm still a break even trader thus far in 2013. I guess I should say the first three months where typical and the last four have ripped'em rightoffa me.

Well

@Devil Man

I used to make money...not doing that so much these days.

I am not sure, but I am certain that I am doing something different or new...and likely once started on that path the monster gains size.

This situation is testimony to the idea that everyone should consider keeping a regular journal. If I had been writing down and discussing trades everyday as recommended I'd have easier reference to slaying the beast.

Dan
