I have a hunch that Baidu treated the Vikings well today!

I respect all the dedication you've devoted to constantly improving your craft. It's a beautiful thing that you share this passion with your wife. These are my first couple weeks trading the weekly's, but it is so encouraging to see that my vision is possible.

Swings are a favorite of my 2 year old daughter. Soon enough she'll be learning how to glide up and down the option swings

Cheers

Zan

Thank you Zan.

All these weeklies are always a pleasure to play right after earnings. Tomorrow I expect AAPL & NFLX to be a lot of fun, especially with AAPL missing so badly. If the FED wouldn't have stepped in today, tomorrow could have been VERY bloody; still might be with this bad miss be the beloved AAPL.

Take care.

Mike

Green line, blue dot, buy the break of that dot
Red line, white dot, short the break of that dot

Two types of buys:

1). Green line, blue dot, buy the break
2). Gree line, Darvis Box break, buy the break (an example shown below)

Two types of sells:

1). Red line, white dot, short the break
2). Red line, Darvis box break, short the break

Have a great weekend!

PS: This PCLN option is already a 4X!! (But watch out for those spreads, LOL!)

Oops those PCLN options went from a 4x to a 20X (but remember to be VERY careful of those spreads! )

In my attempt to make things simple enough a 10 year old could trade, I guess I have made it too hard to understand and thus completely worthless.

Not really sure how that can be, but I just have to throw the towel in and walk away.

This has been one of the most frustrating teaching attempts I have even under taken.

Truely amazing experience!!

Rule were:
Green line, Blue Dot, buy the break
Green Line, Darvis Box break, buy the break

Red Line, White Dot, short the break
Red Line, Darvis Box, short the break

Pretty tuff!!!!!!!!!!!!

My recommendations are to go find the most complicated system you can find (there are plenty in here), then you can feel justified not to get into any trade and feel good about that decision as it races away.

Thank you Tim for the nice comments and it just goes to show you why we are where we are in this world. Unfortunately, most people want you to not only catch the fish, but clean the fish, cook the fish, feed them the fish, and then they will probably bitch that it isn't cooked correctly for them.

Take care and I wish you well.

Hi @Vikings1, it was beneficial to read your trading journal and your unselfishness in sharing, showing and discussing your trades is to be cherished. Please keep posting at least one chart highlighting the entries , I am sure many quiet aspiring traders as myself are learning and picking up thinks looking at them and reinforcing in the same time the belief that a rules based system works and will help you succeed if you apply them every time you get the signal.....I remember Todd Brown saying about an ROE (Rules Of Engagement) System:"It's the signal, it's the signal, it's the signal"

Thank you and hope seeing you here again!

Thank you for the fine comments. I'll think about it, but I doubt I will be back. I did a test recently where I gave 12 people all my set-ups for free. Only (1/3) are using them and they are doing VERY well, the other (2/3) I guess are still looking for the "Magic 8-Ball". So you can't even please people when you GIVE them something for FREE!!! Really Amazing!

Take care Faux....

Hi @Vikings1, this was a great test you've done! And that 1/3 (4) of people you helped if they will be willing to do the same as you've done (great hearts to share and spread the good) will make each of them another 1/3 (4) of people happy, in total 16 and so on.......
And if you take another group of 12.......you get my point, you will make tons of people happy......and you will be the One who started that pyramid.........as Mike is the head of this excellent forum and made a lot of people happy and gave a lot of them (speaking for myself first ) a way to went and heal their frustration on the difficult path to find a strategy or idea who they can apply to their own personality.........

In that regard, my guess is that the other 2/3 (8) people are grateful to you for sharing your system with them, but their own personality did not match the system and they could not pass the psychological barrier of trusting the signals and taking action.........so they have to search to find the system that will match them.....and this is a long journey.......some of us will give up and find another path in life than becoming a trader......some will succeed and will always have you in their heart for being unselfish and helping them out.....

I wanted to thank you again for this great journal you started as many aspiring traders will find nuggets of inspiration and learn something out of it........and wish you luck !

Nope, I quit for completely different reasons. But I did the experiment to prove something to myself and unfortunately I wasn't let down.

Well, Vikings1, this is pretty interesting. I've read through most of this thread and I'm going to give it a try using my own intra-day trade indicators (if you don't mind). Thanks again. I will let you know how it worked out for me.

On Wednesday, October 10th @ 4:30 PM Eastern US, Carley Garner will be presenting a webinar on futures.io (formerly BMT) which covers Options Trading (specifically Futures, but it will be a broad overview). I've asked Carley to put together a multi-part webinar, so this is Part 1 and will just be "Basics - 101".

You can find more info here:

@Vikings1

You showed people just another of the myriad ways that trading can be approached. I'm not using the things you specifically taught/showed, but I can tell you that you opened my eyes to a variety of things and ways of thinking that has been an important part of my growth as a trader.

What you shared, regardless of what you may have seen in actual responses and the following of your method, is priceless, and has benefited me as I'm sure it has others.

Thank you for sharing here.

Thank you AT,

My goal all along was to make something simple and at the same time be able to protect your back side if the trade goes against you; (as this business is ALL about money management).

There are numerous set-ups in this site which I am sure most will make you money if you stick to their various trading rules; (another area traders seem to have difficulties doing).

Anyhow, my rules are simple:

Red "down" line, red candle, buy the break of the low of that candle.
Green "up" line, blue candle, buy the break of the high of that candle.

GET OUT WHEN THE TRAILING STOP IS BROKEN: (white dashes)

NOTE: Potential profit targets would be major ones, like pivots and such.

Take care and good trading.

V

This is a great response to Viking. Viking's detail has provided me with the encouragement to move forward with my plan. I started 11/1 live and have been making pretty steady money since then, all trading just AAPL on 1 and 3 min charts. It's freakin' awesome!

Of course, strong impulse trends certainly help, but even when the prices are choppy there's a little money to be had if you stick to your rules.

Risk is relatively low using the proper money management and loses are minimized while profits can be maximized. Wow! Better the futures, as far as I'm concerned.

More detail to follow when I get more data.

Here is what everything looks like of my charts these days and how it all works on this short clip...(newbie to video stuff, hope to be posting these shortly on Youtube)

11.27.2012-10.39.49 - Vikings1's library

I have been able to code in entry prices into my set-ups (again not a real coder, so a real accomplishment for me), (now it won't always post if the next signal bar is not triggered, so it is not perfect, but it is not to bad either)....

PS: I'll start posting some daily pics as well for swing traders....

Example of Stock Picks for 11-27-2012 (picks I will post the prior night before open in the future)

I have been able to code my codes into a daily, weekly, monthly scan in StockFetcher which in turns sends me an e-mail of fresh crosses every night. (Buys on the "Up Code Picks" would be any break of the previous day high and vice versa.)

I have inserted a few charts of the daily swing trades, stop will be whatever is posted in upper left hand corner of my chart.

Take care and have fun!

Number of shares is based off a maximum loss of $ 200. Personally I rather play the Dec. Put options instead of shorting the stocks outright. You pick your profit level.

How the market looks on my charts (could go either at this moment, Es breaks 1387.75 and it could see 1373.50, IMO)

Oil obviously has had issues at that major FIB ($90.18). Right now it is in a range of ($ 89.80 & $ 86.37). It would need to break $ 88.53 to show me any signs of real upward movement and then $ 89.80 and $ 90.18. If it breaks $ 86.37 then $ 84.05 comes back into play.

Who comes to the market's rescue today; The Fed, the Congress, CNBC,??

Market still looking weak, 30 year rising, oil breaking down...

Wish you all well today in your trading...

Sweet Bounce off my daily stop on OIL @ $ 85.40 and why I put my actual stop 1 tick below the posted stop.

Let's see where the $ 85.75 short goes.. (so far so good)

Take care.

Here are two sets of charts, my daily and my range charts based of a 15 Min ATR. As you can see, you don't need to be in a hurry to trade.

Close up on CL and ES charts using my 15 Min ATR based range..(sweet double bottom on oil)

Perfect set-up on AAPL. Indicators gave me my "green line", "green candle", but no break of that candle, S1 held. I had to wait nearly 1-1/2 hours but finally it broke $ 597.73 and the results were a nice win so far. Final target for remaining 1/2 is Pivot at 585.08, or $ 4.00 on the calls, which ever comes first...

A quick look at the market...(can pivot hold for the ES??)

Now that was a text book play....

Looks like another press conference just in time to save the market today. They now have a plan for a plan to plan for a plan to get us out of this mess with just a "Stroke of a Pen" (so sad!)

But hey AAPL got to it's $ 585 Pivot... "Got to love the hedge funds and their trading computers"

Nearly all my daily stops were tested, but did not break. Great bounce off of them.

Looks like the market wants to test news highs for NQ, ES, TF. Oil still weak but it too had a nice bounce off it's stop, but if DX tanks up Oil will go too.

I will post some potential swing trades later.

Take care and have fun.

PS: Be careful though and watch out for "press" conferences about the "Cliff" as each can/will send this market all over the place. Best to keep the news on, even that worthless CNBC ("Rise Above") Network; just turn down the sound.

Though it did go higher today, ES could not break away from R1. EUR/USD will need to break 1.3013 for this market to keep going up. Market sure feels a little heavy here, but it is far from any real sell on any of my charts. If someone farts, tonight or tomorrow, the charts won't mean much.

PS: I added a simple cloud to my charts for the newer people to see the trend a little easier; it is NOT a trade indicator though.

Interday trades were plenty (up & down) across futures, fx, and weeklies, here are just a few examples...

Here is a short video clip of some of today's action....

11.29.2012-10.50.13 - Vikings1's library

Take care and have a great day.

PSS: Under the weather a little so no potential swing trade picks tonight.

Started off nice, but died very quickly today. (rebalancing??)

Anyhow some nice plays in the various futures early this morning and a couple nice plays in some weekly options like BIDU & GOOG...small loss in AAPL (started to break down but didn't want to give up 585, oh well)

Going to post clips to youtube from here on out, Screencast does not have the space to handle the size of these clips.

Market still in Green mode, but having issues up here, (it needs some more Holiday Cheer!!)

Have a great weekend!

Here are some potential swing trades for Monday. No guarantees especially with these current market conditions. The number of shares are based off of a maximum $ 200 loss. Again I would rather play the January, or even this month's, options on these instead of buying the stock outright.

Have fun.

I am glad you are back.

Do you still follow these same rules?:

1). Price must be two candles above/below of the 50EMA.
2). Those two candle must be same color
3). TTM-Squeeze must be blue/red along with a "green" dot
4). My "A-study" (solid blue/red line on upper graph) must be the same color as the candles
5). My "B-Study" (dots green/red on upper graph( must be the same color as the candles
6). My Laquerre Study (dashed blue/red line on upper graph) must be the same color as the candles

I am still trying to define my signals, but have been inspired by your simplicity. I have struggled with controlling fear and greed and believe your disciplined approach is paramount to success.

Nope, they are as follows:

Anyhow, my rules are simple:

Red "down" line, red candle, buy the break of the low of that candle.
Green "up" line, blue candle, buy the break of the high of that candle.

GET OUT WHEN THE TRAILING STOP IS BROKEN: (white dashes)

NOTE: Potential profit targets would be major ones, like pivots and such.

That's it.

Market is flat now, but there were some nice plays prior to open and just after....

Euro has been very nice since the open last night....

No plays in my weeklies, never do much with them on Mondays or Tuesdays anyway...

How I play them..

My normal interday range chart on left, "call" range chart middle, "put" range chart right. This set-up allows me to easily see my options as well my daily interday 'longer" time frame chart.

Same set-up, I get a buy signal I buy either the straight calls or puts depending upon which direction the stock is going.

Only Tuesday and there were some nice trades today....

Take care and have fun...

Overall market look:

My Weeklies and how they look on daily charts:

Multiple trades in AAPL weeklies today and one nice one in BIDU

Action is really starting to heat up...

The $ 64,000 Dollar question....

ES had an inside day; therefore above 1,421 and 1,424 will be tested; probably will be anyway..
TF wants 829.20, IMHO. If it breaks it, up it will go.
NQ breaks 2,622.50 and she could drop all the way to 2,492.
EUR/USD breaks 1.2875 and she will be a run to potentially 1.2660, which of course would/should not be a bullish thing for the market overall.

Anyhow like millions of others, I too will just stick to interday trades until we get some action from our fearless leaders in DC.

Take care and have fun!

Interesting day, horse shit news across the board, yet the market soars! My ATM machine, (TF), was once again giving free money to all who wanted it. Oil had some nice plays and of course the AAPL weeklies were strong again today.

Current Market Outlook:

ES breaks today high at 1434.25 and it go easily go all the way to 1468.
NQ breaks today's high of 2698.50, 2720.75 is a given, IMHO.
CL breaks 85.20 and 84.04 will be hit, again IMHO.
TF breaks 837 and 862.20 will be in it's sights'
EUR/USD has 1.3054 in it's sights and then 1.3125; (which is obviously very bullish for the market).

Some other futures and how they faired today:

Some nice moves over night:

AAPL up as well in premorning, NQ headed for 2698.75 and then 2720.75?

Euro moved right to my 1.3054 target from last night, (well actually only 1.3052, missed it by two pips)

Today should be a fun one...(be nimble)

Take care.

PS: NQ still trying to get to 2698.75

Have fun...

Wow, Fed doubles down on the printing. They must have gotten another new press; the trees of the rain forest should be shaking in their roots now...LOL! At least Steve Liesman had a "thrill run up his leg" in regards to the FOMC minutes, what a loser!

Not sure where to even start and thus will just post the charts and see where the chips fall tomorrow.

Everyone is worried about the so-called "Fiscal Cliff", it pales in comparison to what the FED is doing to us every single day...(just keep telling yourself that we are a rich nation, LOL!!)

Ok I am off my soapbox, no ones cares in the US anymore, or is just too stupid...so print baby print....

PS: That said it was a good day, missed the action in the afternoon, but morning was still a lot of fun in oil and AAPL weeklies...

PSS: NQ never took 2698.75, that is not a bullish sign (so far that is).....

Forget your volume, tick, monkey bars, trendlines, flags, or whatever else you think you need. Just post your daily pivot points and trade off of them...

Anyhow have fun...

Market looking a little weak here, but that means nothing these days. A hero will ride in on a "rainbow" mule, (can't be a white horse anymore) and the world will be saved once again. Probably tomorrow so our fearless leaders can go home for Christmas proud of their accomplishments.

Off to the Philippines, but I will be trading over there and will keep throwing my 2 cents worth of wisdom in this journal....

Current Market Conditions:

Interday action was VERY good; My favorites CL, TF and the AAPL weaklies were very good to me today:

Where is our Hero on his "Rainbow Mule"??

Market weakness still enforce.

AAPL already down $ 10 from it's close

Oil had a nice run last night and is in a short right now, first target now being the pivot at 86.30 and then maybe yesterday's low of 85.81...we'll see

Have a great trading day. Mine will only be until 10:30 CST and then I have to hit the road...

Take care.

Time to shutdown...

Oil still fighting it's pivot 86.30 and is in a range of 86.56-86.05; breaks either and it will in all likelihood run to either 86.8 (and maybe PHOD of 86.97) or 85.64 (S1)...We'll see..

Have a great weekend...

Though NO huge runners in AAPL so far today, there were some very nice profit opportunities...

Really got to run.

PS: I see CL almost got to R1 @ 86.80 ($ 86.76), not over yet though and with the DX tanking, it might still get there...

Anyhow, my wife is tugging at me, really got to run.

Ingat! (take care)

Market looking weak here, if the market breaks it's Friday lows we might fall for a while. We'll see........

PS: Sunday's open is up for now, let's see what happens when the London & US markets open....

Stay nimble and above all have fun!

No breakdown today, the divergence of the EUR/USD to the market on Friday resulted in the market following the EUR/USD today. (One of them had to break and today it was the market).

I have levels marked for longer term breakout points. Some very nice plays today in CL, TF and AAPL weeklies again.

Take care and have fun!

Here are some potential plays for tomorrow. Typical rules are buy/short at the price posted and use the price-stop difference in calculating how many shares to purchased based off a $ 200 maximum loss.

Today was a very good day across the board. My favorites TF, CL, AAPL weeklies all had some very nice runs today.

PS: One of my buy picks yesterday was AMZN @ $ 255.56, the weekly options in that pick more than tripled today!

Euro still strong, DX still weak, so market should still have upward bias tomorrow, but again be nimble as anything can shake this market.

Take care and have fun!

@Vikings1,

Are you a vendor, do you have a website, do you have anything for sale - products/services/mentoring or otherwise?

Hi Mike,

I have done some, but have not done any serious promotion of it. Though I do get enjoyment out of helping others it is time consuming work; time that is valuable to my family & I.

I have some very talented long-time trading friends who continue to try to drag me into offering a full-time service and with all the crap I see out there, I am tempted.

So we'll see.

PS: Thanks for asking, it is a honor to be asked.

Merry Christmas....

Mike (Vikings1)

Hi,

We have a strict vendor policy on the forum which all users are made aware of when they sign up. Part of that mandates that vendors clearly identify themselves before making any post.

Vendors are not permitted to have a trading journal or any type of "daily analysis" thread. According to your website, you sell coaching services for $4,500, so you are a vendor and in violation of futures.io (formerly BMT) policy.
