IAEA Director General Statement on the Situation in Ukraine

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) is following the situation in Ukraine with grave concern and is appealing for maximum restraint to avoid any action that may put the country’s nuclear facilities at risk, Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi said today.

In line with its mandate, the IAEA is closely monitoring developments in Ukraine with a special focus on the safety and security of its nuclear power plants and other nuclear-related facilities, he said.

The Ukraine regulatory body, the counterpart, has earlier informed the IAEA that it is maintaining communications with Ukraine’s operational nuclear power plants, which it said are operating safely and securely.

Regarding the situation at the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant, Ukraine has informed the IAEA that ”unidentified armed forces” have taken control of all facilities of the State Specialized Enterprise Chornobyl NPP, located within the Exclusion Zone. The counterpart added that there had been no casualties nor destruction at the industrial site. Director General Grossi said it is of vital importance that the safe and secure operations of the nuclear facilities in that zone should not be affected or disrupted in any way.

The Director General stressed that the IAEA General Conference – the annual gathering of all the organization’s Member States – adopted a decision in 2009 saying “any armed attack on and threat against nuclear facilities devoted to peaceful purposes constitutes a violation of the principles of the United Nations Charter, international law and the Statute of the Agency”.

The IAEA remains in permanent contact with its Ukrainian counterpart.

Hi @Symple

Thanks for your detailed information.
Things have changed quite a bit since yesterday:

Please read my extension (from Twitter) in my last post from yesterday about the rising radioactive levels measured in Chernobyl.

Happy weekend

Hi @GFIs1

Thanks for your posting. I have looked around in the Internet. There is absolute no clear statement to find, that the infrastructure of Chernobyl is damaged in any way. If it were so, the western media would have taken up this immediate and published it with huge noise in the big media.

What I found as an interesting link on Twitter is the following: (https://mobile.twitter.com/DrEricDing/status/1497011166341599274)

If you read through some of the thesis it is expressed that during the attacks and when occupied with the heavy Russian tanks, some ground dust was swirled up in Chernobyl. Since this soil is contaminated, the values in the air also rise in the short term. But this does not mean that this is a radioactive cloud which we saw in April 1986 and which hit Belorussian the hardest.

If some one still thinks he is already in danger because of this, here is another link how to estimate radioactivity: (https://xkcd.com/radiation/)

Also to you a nice, coming weekend.

Full Stop

At the moment I am stopping my trading here except this one open short trade.
Reason is the war in Ukraine.
As I do have family and many friends there I need to organize a bunch of tasks right now. No possibility to take a flight to get into the country - nor travel by car. Everything is high risk. I assume that this conflict will last more than some weeks!
Ukrainian people are in high danger right now.
No chance to make serious trades. At least it is much more difficult to trade under pressure. And much more risky.

I do have some projects in Ukraine. All are on ice right now. Which is a financial disaster.
So far no good news - sorry!

@GFIs1: Wishing you and your family and friends all the best, and I hope that they stay safe and healthy during this unprecedented and disgusting war !

Hi (Pryvit?),

here you can find some information how/where to get help for ukrainian refugees in Germany. It will be updating as more information comes in and more people join...
If you want and can contribute similar information for Swiss - simply contact the administrator of the web page, he sits just beside me right now.

PS. I can't trade either...

@GFIs1, I totally agree with @Daytrader999, and the others who have offered support.

I hope all is well with you and your friends and family, and that this war ends as soon as possible, and with minimal additional damage and loss of life.

Bob.

Friday

Putin's war is shocking the markets.
Asia all strong red.
DAX finally out south of weekly Kumo - as discussed earlier.
Lower prices are seen every hour.
The trade here is still open and of course on track.
To end this one I am setting up a take profit which might be reached by today:
TP @ 12977

Let's see.
GFIs1

edit 17:30 - nearing the TP - 150 points more to go - but faisible

End of week

The take profit marker had been reached! Today - as previewed.
But only after hours @ 21:00 - which did not close the trade.

The lowest price reached on that candle: 12960

TP is still 12977

So my analysis on the given situation was very accurate today:
means at a high / lo of 13559 - 12960 = 599 points we see
17 measly points offset of the 599 points range
