Nice gap down from yesterday low to expected cash hour start of ~100 points.

Will bring us to a rare gap trade today:

Effective gap is 107 points - so if everything works fine I will take the countertrade

Dax long from 10:30 to 13:30
entry @ 12225
exit @ 12276
result 51 points

Dax short 9:30 to 13:30

entry @ 12301
exit @ 12231
result 70 pts

Price is in 30m Kumo - so some sideways possible

comment 11:45
On track! Price closed the gap to Wednesday and is on its way down.
Was quite obvious to see the lower prices confirmed.
Awaiting to see price getting out of Kumo within the set time for the trade.
comment 12:15 - which did in the last minutes...

Very bad numbers of last quarter came out today: DB Deutsche Bank: -3,1 Mia, Daimler: -1,3 Mia...
and the Dax is still in the high - believing EZB tomorrow will move interests down - haha!

So I will take a short trade

Dax short from 11:30 to 15:30
entry @ 12509
exit @ 12532
result -23 points

Attention today:

Important ECB decision - 13:45, press conference 14:30

plus low volume on the markets (summertime)
Prices were already on the rising side - which may not be
supported then by the ECB decision:
Might tend to high vola around those times - be aware
Better to stay @ the sidelines...

GFIs1

addendum 10:05
well the correction down is on its way:
the high of this morning was 12599.5 - 12600 not reached
actual price 12544

addendum 14:00
ECB made no change - interest rate still 0,00%
Dax jumped back on entry price from today...

Just to show how price is jumping - here an example of today's Draghi ECB endeavour:

Watch the vola around the time of the public making and speech.

The Dax made some interesting move down today - nearly wanted to have yesterday on my setup which did not work. But watch the price dive after a little push up and then the dive until - we do not know yet:
But what we see is a move (Hi/Lo) of 306 points in 2 hours...

I am pretty sure to see more volatility days like this in the near future (with Boris and Donald leading them).
GFIs1

PS: was ok to stay @ the sidelines

The slip from 14:00 to 15:30 gave a Walzer signal by SMS

which said short from 15:30 to 16:30
1st leg short:
entry @ 12452
exit @ 12350
result 102 points

2nd leg long 16:30 to 17:30
entry @ 12351
exit @ 12380
result 29 points

Total result: 102 + 29 = 131 points

GFIs1 who is happy to see new Walzer patterns again...

Here a first illustration (trade not finished yet)

For those who are not familiar with the Walzer can get help in my other thread here:

You will find detailed rules on how to take the trade. Even first step and or second step are defined.
The rule set is very easy, can even be easily programmed. The good point of the Walzer is the
ability to see the Walzer evolving before taking the trade.

Happy reading

Can only tell from my data feed - as shown in the chart. But interesting to see 6 pts difference anyway.
The good thing about is to have the same results finally in total...

Interestingly all 3 trades with the rules of this thread were in the ECB week negative. Not massive but still. The reason might be the low volumes during summer which is repeating every year. From my longtime journal I see some weeks weak enough and might be omitted.
Thanks to the Walzer trade on Thursday the weekly result was not bad: 88 pts in total of the four trades.

Happy weekend

Hi GFIs1,
now I saw that you have posted a CFD-chart not a FDAX chart, of course there can/will always be a difference.

Yes the charts are CFD charts - as some followers of the thread looked for those.
But you are right - some difference is there - in total should the winning or losing points be the same.
Happy weekend

Will be interesting - not so much volume - thus volatility might be higher.
Especially FED decision might shake up as well.

Looking forward! Happy trades

A new Walzer arrived - even the 50pts rule of the first candle (only 42) was skipped.
FED decision & low volume makes prices drifting more during summer time.

9:00 to 10:00 were good for a entry short @ 10:00 to 11:00

entry @ 12342
exit @ 12270
result 72 points

reversal long 11:00 to 12:00
entry @ 12269
exit @ 12270
result 1 point

Total result 73 points

2nd leg was nearly not pattern like...

Yesterday during cash hours the DAX was diving 306 points!
Leads us to a last of month trade today.

Attention FED decision tonight...
High chance that we see a down of -0.25%. New interest rate will then be 2.0%.

Looks like the my DAX rules are still in best form!

Hi GFIs1,
I'm new at the forum but would like to follow your system. I guess it has some changes since the original setup...
I could go through the whole thread (300+ pages), but hope you can make things a lot easier. Could you please share your current setup/system?

Thanks a lot

Thanks Dennis @Deetee for the question.
To tell you frankly - I can not give you the rules. Why? The weekday system is very complex. Not even easily to program. Looking for previous day range, the direction, the weekday itself, the day before or after (eg. holiday?, numbers? etc.), then the occurencies of US numbers (FED, companies), the german occurencies like ECB, holidays, IFO numbers etc.,. Then the convergence with Ichimoku indicator for 1 day and 30m. As well as the combination of all of them: like Friday rule when Monday US closed - or no trade when previous day had a day range of more than 150 points. Not mentionend the different stop levels.
To make it short - my rule sheet is quite complex and uses cascading decisions.

For your convenience follow my easy rule sheet of the "Walzer-thread". You can find it some posts back. There the rules are very easy to understand following the good gaining plan.
Have great trades

Dax lost over night more than 2%. Price of the daily chart shows now a Kumo breakout south...
After DTs announcement of punishing China more with taxes - the markets show just one direction.
Tonight the same man will speak about future deals with EU. Means tons of uncertainty.
Opening of the DAX cash @ 9:00 was no longer above the 12k level.

There were three trades
one trade was negative (SL) -30 points
two trades were positive:
Walzer 72 points
Friday 92 points

Total points 135

The bears took over this week. With more instability we will see more red development.
Dax fell 3% today...
Happy weekend

Rocket start of the DAX from 9:00 to 9:20

Dax long 10:30 to 13:00

entry @ 11730
exit @ 11680 (SL)
result -50 points

Even my very optimistic SL (during strong volatility) did not work.
Anyway - we know that the main direction of the DAX is mainly south.
The intention for this trade was the counter-push within the day.
It didn't happen - no prob )

Looking forward to Wednesday...

GFIs1

addendum 10:15 - battle in the 30m Kumo - means a better starting point for my long
be aware: some volatility is on the table today!

Dax price during cash hour is on the quick way down.
Got one alarm to check the next 30m candle...

Well - lets see if we can harvest a new Walzer.

GFIs1

Well - not all rules sent green..

Just a try: DAX short
12:00 to 13:00
entry @ 11570
exit @ 11573 (first candle in false direction)
result -3 pts
No second leg

add 12:20 - DAX crossed the 200 mean line down
This is a alarm signal for recession
Has nothing to do with today's trade - but for the future development

Conclusion:
DAX is @ 200day line
Means a battle if resting above or not.
My conclusion: 200d line will not hold
A first sign of recession in Germany is on the horizon.

Good trades

Yesterday a violent jump in the DAX was seen: Within 30 minutes from 15:00 to 15:30 the DAX made one up move with a hi/lo of 234 points!
Just because Potus sent a tweet to postpone extra taxes for different countries to December 2019.

Why the DAX reacted so violently is not known.
As long the iindex-price still is around 12000 we will see further volatility.
Be alerted.

Thank you @xplorer!
Happy to see you often watch and thanking my posts.
Indeed - to put up a trade - in advance - before taking it with open and closing TIME is a rare journal here.

Those who followed here for a longer time know about the "pattern trading" which is not easy to predict.
Have a wonderful afternoon and evening!

As a longtime follower you know that my trades here concentrate on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Why?
All of those are moving days.
After my theory short time free money is flowing into the markets on Mondays - parked outside over the weekend (risk!), then first gains will be made on Wednesday. Finally money is flowing out on Fridays - you say it - to park it over weekend again.
Is not meant for stock holders - but for day traders, private or professionals who invest in futures and derivatives and are risk averse.

Happy trades!

Some tricky point reached here: the DAX has the Kumo above in the 4h-chart.
Means some resistance as illustrated here:

Scenario for the moment is to get quickly through this Kumo to see 12k soon.

I did not take any trade today - as I was full day away from keyboard.

In fact riding the big news especially on a news day like this bring sometimes some good wins.
Taking the known patterns - the gains are likely.

As I can not count any back options in this thread - this one will not count anyway.
But it will be explained in the next post. Also to show how the pattern rules are chiming in.

The futures.io statistics sent me back to field "0".
No forum reputation because of "0" wisdom.

Was even mentioned on the current posting index under the 10 best posters this month in the challenge...

Always changing color in the title. Since a while.

No fun anymore!

So I stop posting immediately my thoughts in this forum. Maybe things will change for the better.

Thanks for following and reading - have a nice weekend

I wouldn't take it this way. It has nothing to do with your posting or your trading or with anyone's assessment of you. In the changelog thread, @Big Mike has been discussing some coding issues he is having with the forum reputation calculations and problems it has caused with Wizards incorrectly seeming to lose their Wizard status. He is working to fix the code, but has encountered unexpected difficulties. It is a complex computation, and recent changes have introduced bugs that have to be tracked down and fixed.

In a recent post he specifically mentions you as someone who is incorrectly affected by this bug, and asks for understanding as he attempts to juggle the current issues with the forum:

So truth is, I am using a bash script to do this and it just needs to be re-written in PHP so I can better control & log what is happening on a per-user basis, to narrow down why the math is resulting in zero somewhere (a divide by 0 error probably). The logging and looping is harder in bash for this.

But, right now I really need to spend time converting old webinars to HTML5 instead of this. So I hope all wizards bear with me on this and their fluctuation in status back and forth until we can solve it. Bear with me guys!

As soon as I get the webinars converted, I'll come back to this and re-write the script and solve it. Your continued support and understanding during this time is appreciated!

Hi gfi,
Have you verified this with stats?

Hi @rdaytrader
Thanks for the question.
Answer is yes: I have for my system trading here (in fact since 2010) accurate statistics. Every single day.
If you see my trading plans - normally given here before taking a trade) you will see that the patterns STILL work.
I had enough lessons in statistics at the university in the past

If you like to get more information about the last years - then have a look on some more posts within this thread.
Best to watch the year end statistics.
THERE you will find my day of week details too.
You may find easily some year end statistics (links) on the very first post here.

Good trades!

As mentioned nearly 2 weeks ago - the price of 12k needs to be "killed again":

We are nearing today this point. Finally. But things might not hold on this level.
Just to see that price moves need to get to "old marks" before turning to new xxx or yyy.

Lets have a look what the pricing will be before the long (US holiday) weekend.

******** english ********

"Europe's currency watchdogs are using every means at their disposal to counter the economic downturn: banks will have to pay even higher penalty interest in future if they park money with the European Central Bank (ECB). In addition, the central bank is investing fresh billions in bonds. This was decided by the ECB Governing Council in Frankfurt on Thursday.

The central bank is thus further tightening its ultra-loose monetary policy at the end of the term of office of ECB President Mario Draghi. The Italian's eight-year term ends on 31 October 2019. The key interest rate, which has been at a record low of zero percent since March 2016, remains unchanged at this level.

It had been expected that the central bank would replenish its reserves again. In view of the global economic slowdown and the weakness of world trade, "significant monetary policy impulses" were necessary, Draghi said after the meeting of the Governing Council of the ECB seven weeks ago."

Well thanks @Grantx

In fact this is my GFIs1 "One trade per day" journal.
Of course swing trading is most interesting.
In this case the fine tuning is in the most probable moves *over time* within every weekday.

I think the results since 2012 shown here are speaking for themselves.

This week some major pressure on the DAX might be seen

Short term:
1) Oil price jumped up over weekend more than 10% - after Saudi oil production was attacked by drones
2) The DAX future started with a down gap in the morning
3) Wednesday - FED decision ahead - means maybe a reversal from the reversal - we will see
4) Friday Triple Witch day: the most important in the year (3rd quarter end) - before Christmas business

Long term:
5) Recession discussions starting in different countries - and especially for the DAX
6) Rising prices during Climate Change (next 10 years)

Prices of the indices might have seen the top for a while.

I'm impressed with your strategy and like to follow it.
Your exit is 14:30. How do you deal with the volatility after 14:00? I mean, if I remember well, with the ECB last week the price first dropped let's say 100 points before jumping up again. I'm wondering, what kind of stoploss can cover this? Or do you rely on direction (today short) and put a very high stoploss?

Thanks
Dennis

Thanks Dennis for following.
In fact ECB is during cash hours in Europe. There are hefty movements ahead to be avoided.
US FED is before US cash hours and has not the same effect on the volatility.
Thus I am closing my trade before the official US trading starts.
And today I am sure to see NO change in the FED strategy - they will do nothing.
Hope this helps
Good trading

As we had interesting movements in the DAX last week I decided to give an insight on the ominous 3 lines shown in my last charts.
It is about the "Fibonacci Fan" which shows support and resistance LINES (not levels).
Annotation: those lines do not affect my trading in this thread - still the GFIs1 rules stand for every trade.

As I had the charts already I wanted to give a sneak insight into this technique. There are some traders using FibFan for their trading.
Here the study in 2 charts with two subsequent fibonacci fans in a row:
1 with the down FibFan and then the turning point in 2 the rising FibFan.

Chart 1:

Chart 2:

At the end I noted a predicting trend down. Which will be be seen hopefully on Monday. Check it out!

Details:
Chart one shows very good support and resisting zones. The DAX formed even a "W" .
In this chart one could easily trade point 2 long to 3, then short from 3 to 4 and finally a long long to 5 which are continuing in chart 2 adequately until point 9.
The results should have given positive points on every trade: the min. points for the short from 5 to 6 here.
Important to know that this tool works on all time levels.
A fibonacci fan can have more than only 3 lines - according to the fibonacci levels which are better known.

GFIs1

PS: There are more fibonacci tools to be found on fio. One thread of mine in the last 3 years is a special thread on fibonacci spirals here:

Given my previous post here - there will be a high probability to see the last trade of the *very important* third quarter as follows:

DAX short 9:30 to 17:00

We will see: the given signs are pretty good.

As Thursday markets in Germany will be closed - here a preview of Wednsday's trade:
Short 9:30 to 17:30.
Things will be clear tomorrow morning - just a hint for today and tomorrow.
Means today the price might rise quite a bit.
Then the gains will be collected and preserved for the long weekend.

Good trades

As mentioned in my last chart after some higher prices - today the turning points was reached.
In the afternoon price came down even in the after cash hours.
So the prediction of a shift down was right. Plus tomorrow a short will be highly probable
as Thursday will be closed as mentioned.

Let's see what tomorrow brings.

Strong down after a down gap this morning. Looks like it will be a "hard Brexit" upon Johnson...

So taking as mentioned yesterday a DAX short 9:30 to 17:30 - means a very long trade for my system:

exit @ 11958
result +197 points

As foreseen - the trade went very well until the cash closing - and regarding ALL my rules of the system.

The result is 197 points in a short entering 9:30 and in the frame of a day trade during cash hours.

Here my short overview:

Thanks all for the compliments!

PS: next trade on Friday - hopefully

Markets in Germany are not closed on the "Tag der Deutschen Einheit". But they trade sidewards. And certainly you will have not a spectacular gain as you did yesterday. Maybe in the afternoon you can expect some upwards movement.
