Yeah - @
PeakGrowth the things are extreme:
Were intraday margins last year around 7K rising to 12K
now they were 16K intraday and the moment of high vola
as they skipped the intrady margin - it was 32K this week...
This has nothing to do with the market itself - it looks like
IB wants to get rid of "small" customers...
And use the moment for their strategy.

I think IB got scared after the Swiss Franc-disaster when the SNB removed the floor in EURCHF. IB has been increasing margin requirements ever since, both in their FX and their futures offerings.
But I don't think it's a deliberate strategy to get rid of their small customers. Why would they create
CFD 's where you can trade 1/25th of a DAX-
contract if they want to dump their small customers?
BTW, the official DAX margin requirement is 24.455 EUR per contract at the moment.
