When I first thought of wanting to make a certain amount of money, 20+/- years ago, I did not want it to have "stuff", I wanted it to have "freedom". And there is a freedom that having money can bring.

But today, for some odd reason as I drove from one meeting to the next, I also saw that there is a freedom that can come from losing it as well. Perhaps even as a price that is paid to obtain it.

Maybe that is why the affluent, the ones with good hearts, give so much. I've always found that getting rid of physical "Stuff" does the same thing for me, while loosing most of my monetary asserts only created stress.

Maybe that is why the affluent, the ones with good hearts, give so much. I've always found that getting rid of physical "Stuff" does the same thing for me, while loosing most of my monetary asserts only created stress.

I lost everything monetarily, and that was the worst stress of my life. And with it went my identity, self-esteem, ability to enjoy things, expanded observation, situational interpretation...

But, "change" requires a catyayst, and inertia is a tough opponent.

What I am referring to is hard for me to to describe, but still was a new significant breakthrough in my present day well-being.

It has been several weeks since I even looked at a chart. When @Big Mike first said I should get away from it for awhile, I sent him a PM basically asking, "what would I do with all my time?" I did not just "trade", I LIVED trading. And so it has been very difficult at times. The feeling is often a very real withdrawal.

But, what I have done, is get back out, socialize, get re-integrated with many past friends and business contacts. What was a surprise to me, is that three people so far have mentioned they would be interested in backing me in future real estate development. All of them knowing it sent me to bankruptcy.

Also, I have been reading more about my own psychology, doing guided meditations, working to understand my relationship with money. I found this article that was interesting.

What a ride... Checked out of my room at the futures.io (formerly BMT) and off into the "real" world, somewhat the "past" world... I connected with so many people over the past few months, since whenever I last posted. Real estate may be waking up, or so seems the hopes of those who once lived with it, breathed it... And as I opened NT for the first time in months also, crude had a hard bottom around $85...

Life is good. Risk is healthy. Money is not important, enjoying what you do is.

Gary,
Nice to see you are still around. I have read your complete journal a few times. You capture more than what it is like to be a trader in my opinion. After reading your journal I feel like I have had the chance to spend time with somebody with greater insight than I will ever have, and with a humbleness I will never have. thanks for creating such an authentic journal and sharing it so freely.

Perspective. There are few words as meaningful.

I had hit a point where I questioned mine.

And not just superficially, but to atypical depth.

I have not laid idle over the past few months, I have burrowed forward in expected fashion. Expected as in my expectations of myself.

The trend is UP, and I see it from the ground, I see it in the gossip at ground level. And while it is a lagging indicator, it is a place to live.

This post may not make sense, but that is not the point. And markets move at their own time...
