Hey.
It seems to be simple but i dont see how to set up buy sell short cover buttons on my keyboard. I went to view> hot keys but in order entry macros there are way too many options that i dont understand. I want just those 4 buttons to be set. Buy join, buy shave i have no idea what it means. Its so confusing there.
Can you help answer these questions from other members on NexusFi?
So you are saying you want just four macro keys, right? Try this:
Go to the Hot Keys screen
Click Save As...
Give it a meaningful name (e.g. 'My Layout')
Click Order Entry Macros in the Categories section
Select each macro (Commands), one by one and click Remove
After all of the macros have been removed, then select the Command you want (e.g. 'Sell_Mkt')
Click in the 'Press new Hot Key' field
Click Assign
When you are done, click Save As... and save over the layout you created in Step 3
That will do it. The application will prompt you if a Hot Key you are using is currently in use (e.g.: Ctrl+S = File > Save Workspace), so make sure you choose wisely.
My question is if its market sell in your example? I want to click on level 2, choose the price and execute buy/sell with a button. I usually dont get filled clickig with mouse then i have to cancel and do it again. But i dont want any market orders. Fills are bad.
I used sell market as just an example. I'm am an algorithmic trader, so I don't place many orders manually. Maybe you can check out Chart Trading (right click and select Chart Trading) and see if you can configure how you would like to trade.
If you click on Chart trading, you will see a clickable white box (I have a black background, so yours could be a different color) next to Enable Keyboard trading. You can go in there and select how you enter orders.
I have CTRL B for limit buy; CTRL S for Limit Sell.
ALT B for buy/cover stop-market; ALT S for Sell/Sell short stop-market.
It works very well for me.
You can also set up OCO orders if you want to put defined moves in.
