I am using the Fib price line tools. They draw a line that extends all the way to the right edge of the chart. Can this be modified to shorten the line? Preferable to be only as long as necessary to display the numbers?

I am just learning TS so I would need some help or perhaps point me to the 'how to'.

Thanks!

SteveJewels,

you can customize the build in drawing tools to some degree i.e. within what is available for the options.
On the settings tab of some drawing tools you have the option to disable "Extend Right". Unchecking this will only draw the lines up to the right anchor point.

That is a step in the right (LOL) direction. Thank you.

How does one go about shortening it to only the length of the numbers?

SteveJewels,

I am not sure if that is possible. You would have to place the anchor point manually, so that the lines just span the length that you want them to.

I drew the line vertically, I think that's what you meant. The Fib projection for a retracement had no line, only the numbers.

Thanks!

I will play with the extension.

SteveJewels,

no, I meant to place the end point when you do the drawing close to where you'd want the lines to end. When you draw Fibonacci Price Retracement Lines it shows you the numbers and lines already while you can set the end point.
When you have the lines placed on the chart, you could also drag the end point and move it left and right, which would also make the lines longer or shorter.

ABCTG

Got it. Danke

I'd still like to modify it to project a line the same length as the numbers. Maybe someone knows how to do that?

Steve

SteveJewels,

I am afraid you might not be able to customize the tools the tools to that extend. You could write an indicator that allows you to draw lines following mouse clicks on the chart for example, but this would require a bit of coding to accomplish.

When you draw a Fibonacci Price Retracement than you can left and right shift the second end point and move it to the end of the numbers. Together with disabling that the lines are extended to the right, this will make the lines end with the numbers.

When you have a retracement drawn already, you can update and align the second anchor point to the numbers by moving it left or right:

The result appears to be what you have in mind:

Thanks ABCTG.

I have been fooling around with the Fib tools. My results are mixed, not really good enough for what I want to do.

I am looking to do something like this:

SteveJewels,

you might want to check in the official Tradestation forum if someone created an indicator that would accomplish what you have in mind or create one yourself, as in my opinion you can't customize the build in drawing tools to that extend unfortunately.

ABCTG
