- this probably is an old news - they have introduced WFO in 9.x( not sure if it was part of 9.0 as well or not)
- Portfolio Mastreo (text below):
------------------
We are very pleased to announce that after many months of integration, Portfolio Maestro is now available to the entire TradeStation Test Program. Portfolio Maestro is a professional-level portfolio back-testing platform, which allows you to evaluate your strategies on a basket of symbols, and provides you with an in-depth and unparalleled analysis of the results.

While launched in its own platform, Portfolio Maestro is very closely integrated with the TradeStation platform, accessing strategies and data directly from TradeStation. Portfolio Maestro puts the power of portfolio back-testing within reach of virtually any trader, while providing exceptional analysis capabilities, including advanced reporting, Walk-Forward Analysis, Correlation Analysis and Monte Carlo Analysis.

Portfolio Maestro is being made available to the entire TradeStation Test Program, for a limited time, with no subscription fee. So we welcome you to download Portfolio Maestro, using the link below, and begin exploring its features and capabilities.
------------------

- Good thing about the chart based trading - They have opened up OOEL to customize buttons as needed and one can program - what the button click does. Lot of possibilities.
- also -they have introduced - mouse click detect event - this would pass all the bar information and can be passed to OOEL to act accordingly - lot of possibilities here as well.

Thanks.

ALways behind the ball. I used to use them....
Very dissapointed by their brokerage fees and margins etc.
Could tell you more but Big Mike might get annoyed.

Got the 9.1 update yesterday that has chart trading. There's an option to enable chart trading, but when I have it, I could not drag and drop the stops. They do update when I move the stops from the matrix as one would expect. I'll post some screen shots later if anyone is interested.

Mike, I don't know if it's a change as I don't have TS (thinking about it though), but their Portfolio Maestro is apparently new. Here's a brief video, 2nd one down:

Market Analysis | Quick Tips | School of TradeStation Basics | TradeStation University

I'm looking for a robust backtester for my stock and option investing, so it has my interest....

Thanks. I was looking for major improvements after their acquisition of Grail. I wonder what their plans are, to keep it a third party add-on?

Here's a chart with my notes on it. Coincidentally, right after I took this screen shot, TS crashed. First time it has crashed in over a year. I'm still sticking with the matrix.

Thanks for that. Have you tried MultiCharts 7 or MC 8? How would you compare the interface and strengths/weaknesses between the two?

Trade Station is a very nice piece of software, but that is all, nothing more than that.
If you are looking for low margins, low commission, low fees and no cost for market data. And most important a reliable execution forget about Trade Station.

Thanks. I was looking at it just for the platform... I just received an offer to have it (TS 9.1) for free, with no stock, option, future trading minimums. Don't think I'm going to do it though. As you stated, there's also fees for the data as well...

I'll keep using MCDT, and might pull-the-trigger on MC soon. Otherwise, AmiBroker's backtesting looks like to be quite good, and very fast, at least from what I've read here and elsewhere...

If you do not need custom indicators MCDT is the way to go, it is free to trade live! hehe... NT7 is my main plattform, but I do play around with MCDT sometimes. I do not know about AmiBroker's, so can not comment.

The reasons I went with MC over TradeStation is (1) I like the idea of having a lifetime license vs. recurring fees; (2) I like to be able to choose my broker if I want to do automated trading; (3) The platform is more stable, less cluttered with junk and a lot faster. With MC 8 (now in beta), they are making the jump to 64-bit, which means much greater memory capacity. Anyway, my two cents.

I have the same problem. Thought it was just me.. I watched the video demo online and I see them drag and drop so not sure why it is not working. I used to have Thinkdesktop and I use that feature quite a bit so I hope TS will fix it soon.

Agreed. Their not joining the CME waiver program sucks big time.

On top of that, for the developer, there's no way to programatically tell if a trade went off at the bid or ask - so forget doing delta studies, volume profiles or any of that good stuff.

Love the charts though & love the fact there's no 'instrument manager'... That's my only bug bear with Ninja.

There is a crude volume profile indicator available on the TS support site. I use it. TS does not allow composite volume profile unfortunately. I did find a third party tool that will allow composite volume profile, but acquiring tick data is another issue.

But, ya, I hear ya. TS is lagging on some power features.

I had the same issue but I believe I figured out the issue why I couldn't drag and drop. Looks like you can't have tracking enabled. If you turn off Tracking Mode, you should be able to drag and drop in chart trading.
