Trade Station is a very nice piece of software, but that is all, nothing more than that.
If you are looking for low margins, low commission, low fees and no cost for market data. And most important a reliable execution forget about Trade Station.

Thanks. I was looking at it just for the platform... I just received an offer to have it (TS 9.1) for free, with no stock, option, future trading minimums. Don't think I'm going to do it though. As you stated, there's also fees for the data as well...

I'll keep using MCDT, and might pull-the-trigger on MC soon. Otherwise, AmiBroker's backtesting looks like to be quite good, and very fast, at least from what I've read here and elsewhere...

If you do not need custom indicators MCDT is the way to go, it is free to trade live! hehe... NT7 is my main plattform, but I do play around with MCDT sometimes. I do not know about AmiBroker's, so can not comment.

The reasons I went with MC over TradeStation is (1) I like the idea of having a lifetime license vs. recurring fees; (2) I like to be able to choose my broker if I want to do automated trading; (3) The platform is more stable, less cluttered with junk and a lot faster. With MC 8 (now in beta), they are making the jump to 64-bit, which means much greater memory capacity. Anyway, my two cents.

Got the 9.1 update yesterday that has chart trading. There's an option to enable chart trading, but when I have it, I could not drag and drop the stops. They do update when I move the stops from the matrix as one would expect. I'll post some screen shots later if anyone is interested.

I have the same problem. Thought it was just me.. I watched the video demo online and I see them drag and drop so not sure why it is not working. I used to have Thinkdesktop and I use that feature quite a bit so I hope TS will fix it soon.

Agreed. Their not joining the CME waiver program sucks big time.

On top of that, for the developer, there's no way to programatically tell if a trade went off at the bid or ask - so forget doing delta studies, volume profiles or any of that good stuff.

Love the charts though & love the fact there's no 'instrument manager'... That's my only bug bear with Ninja.

There is a crude volume profile indicator available on the TS support site. I use it. TS does not allow composite volume profile unfortunately. I did find a third party tool that will allow composite volume profile, but acquiring tick data is another issue.

But, ya, I hear ya. TS is lagging on some power features.

I had the same issue but I believe I figured out the issue why I couldn't drag and drop. Looks like you can't have tracking enabled. If you turn off Tracking Mode, you should be able to drag and drop in chart trading.
