Would it be possible to get a copy of your ACD coding? I am new to this and would be interested in utilizing some of Fishers concepts. I am currently using thinkorswim. Not really sure if the coding is directly transferrable across all platforms.

The coding cannot be transferred between platforms. The platforms use entirely different languages which are incompatible. I only have files available for NinjaTrader.

Hello,
I'm interested in utilizing the ACD Method but I'm having trouble finding the indicator for MT4. Does anybody have it here or can point me in the right direction to find it? Thanking you in advance for any and all help.

@Fat Tails

CQG has launch a new type of bar based on Mark Fisher Studies.

It looks like a mix of Renko with regular time based bar ? Does it relate to the ACD system ?

Thanks

It is a recent thread, thank you for the information. The link is here:

"The Logical Trader" - Thread to develop manual trading using insights from this book @ Forex Factory

Let me copy your formulas for A and C values here

aValue = (0.10 *((ATR10Days +ATR30Days)/2));
cValue = (0.15 *((ATR10Days + ATR30Days)/2));

I do no think that they match the value published by Mark Fisher. I have another project to locate these breakout values, based on the daily noise level (moves from the open that failed as a breakout). I also use the 3 day rolling pivot range on my 60 minute chart to locate major support and resistance. Both NoiseBands and RollingPivots can be found in the download section of this forum for NinjaTrader.

The indicators of the thread are MetaTrader indicators, I cannot read them. Maybe you could post some charts and explain, how you use the opening range and the A and C values.

I have also worked on the Logical Trader approach and coded an indicator, which automatically displays pivot range, opening range (period selectable), and A and C values. The charts attached show the price action of yesterday for TF and CL. I am not convinced that the method, which dates back to the 1990's can be traded today without modification. These are the parameters to be modified

-> duration of opening range, as markets have become faster
-> calculation of A and C values should be based on statistical data from the preceding 50 or 100 days

Hello @Fat Tails do you still have this version of an OR I looked in ur downloads section but could only find the ones with target extensions of Percents of the opening range rather then tick values, thanks again for all the hard work you have done in creating all these indicators.

I do not currently have an up-to-date version of the opening range with added A and C values.

Just want to say thanks to everyone for this thread and ask a question...
If I understand correctly, A/C values for 45min OR is 8A/13C and 1min OR is 15A/20C
What is a good A/C Value for 5min OR?
Thank you...

I think its fairly subjective as its just building context. Read @Inletcap threads for how he uses it well, but not necessarily all the time. He uses same for A and C (8pts CL and 2pts ES iirc) which makes sense to me, varying it is double arbitrary imo.

i guess you can flex the ranges if atr changes significantly or the vola on the open changes permanently.....again, just for context.

i really like it - every time there has been an a_up/down in either CL or ES in the past months i have been watching jumping on the trend on a pullback at a decent level has invariably been a pain free trade (small drawdown)......even if the range doesnt extend the lod/hod normally gets tested and plenty of room to exit with profit.

The only problem i have is is if it hovers round the OR top/bottom +/-A ts for a few mins i dont know whether to count that as a completed a_down/up. Surpose it doesnt matter too much!

Thanks for the reply Dax, I will play around with it.
I usually do just CL, but started trading NQ with ACD 20min 7/4 AC values
NQ honors this ACD values way more than the CL, just from my limited experience scrolling back and forth.

This ACD is a great system!
I never saw this before until I stumbled into it here in FIO. Thanks
