this is how i would of used your indicator last friday on the es - low volume precedes high volume thus would of given the clue of a pivot breakout

nice job on the indicator

Very interesting, the same setup occurred around 11:20.

Do you have examples from another day? It's a good observation I think. Thanks for sharing.

Hey RJay took me a few minutes to "see" it but I see divergences in the delta indicator that could be used to predict turning points, and if you wait for a churn as confirmation it seems to be reliable. Is this what you're thinking?? This is similar to show I use my momentum indicator with the HVC.

cunparis,

Truthfully, all I'm doing at this point is to find as many ways as possible, to accurately measure ticks and volume.

These indicators will be the basis to create the actual indicators to be used in trading.

Like you just did, find what is working, and then to extract it into its own indicator.

Phase three of this project will be to develop a series of Level2 info indicators.

Leave no stone unturned!!!!!

Phew!!!

RJay

btw, what ive been working on lately is a way to print out on the chart at HVC is to show zero bids which would indicate resistance and then zero offers which would indicate support at a given level - a company called moneyflowbars has that feature

no success yet

Cunparis,

I did post some MTF charts on the Reading Price Action thread that show, my new knowledge of HVC (thanks to Cunparis). It's my way of incorporating Volume into my way of trading.

Hey guys, there is a problem with my volume patterns indicator. If I put calculate on bar close = true, it seems to draw all bars as yellow (paintbar, the volume in the panel is ok). If I set it to false I can't see the volume until the bar is closed.

Why would it draw paintbars bars as yellow instead of cyan? Even if the volume is low while the bar is in progress, once the bar is closed it should draw it cyan i think.

I can't figure it out, if anyone can help I would appreciate it.

Thanks

EDIT: I figured it out.

From now on you can find the latest version on the downloads section and I'll post an update here so you know to go get it.

Still a work in progress.

I thought i'd post an interesting HVC pattern relating to news. Remember HVC means you should sit up and pay attention. It doesn't mean there is always a reversal. When price doesn't reverse after HVC, it can be a powerful signal that the move is continuing.

See this chart for an example this morning on CL.

Activity is dying down in this thread and I don't get it. HVC is marking reversals right and left. Maybe I'm not explaining it well or maybe people don't want to do the work to practice? Is it obvious and everyone has mastered it? Please let me know!

Do you want to see more trades? more theory? I have a lot more things I wanted to discuss such as the VSA patterns but if no one is participating with the basics then I don't see much reason to continue.

Here's another example from CL, when I have a nice profit and I see HVC then I start trailing my stop under the last bar's low and I stop dragging my profit target out as far. HVC tells me what to do.

Ok time to speak up. Here we have two HVC bars. Why wasn't I expecting a reversal????
