I've recently heard and seen a lot of people talking about VBAR, or Volume Distribution Chart. VBAR is a technical tool and process of which a scale to divide volume into separate bars and then plots volume perpendicular to price. A vertical histogram of chart volume. I've been attempting to search many platforms and other resources but am having a difficult time finding any information on this study. If anyone has any good information on where to expand my knowledge on this concept I would greatly appreciate it.

Thank you all and best of luck with your trading.

This sounds like what most trading platforms call "volume profile" or "volume at price" or "volume histogram" ... a large number of them now have this feature; I'd recommend a google search on this and you'll probably find quite a few software options.

Josh,

Thank you so much for clarifying and for your response. Your profile pic is exactly what I'm attempting to find and understand on a higher level. Again, many thanks

A quick question. Have you ever heard of VBAR or have any other suggestions on what other studies would be beneficial similar to volume profile in your experience?

Thank you for your input and time.

Marc

Ukie, have a look at the Market Delta website. (I use their charts). Their blog and archived webinar videos on using volume which although it is on their charts, I see you use CQG, gives some good information on trading with volume. Peter Davies over at Jigsaw Trading has some very good information on his support page including about volume on the DOM which is another important piece of information.

Mathew,

Thank you for your input. I will be sure to check out these resources. I understand a knowledge of the DOM volume is a valuable skill to add to the arsenal.

That's exactly what I use as a confirmation tool. But instead of HVC & VolumeStop, I use VolumeSpike & VolumeStop. And if you have an increase in Volume, that's another indication of a possible reversal. Together with some price patterns you'll get some pretty high probability trades.

@Silvester17

I started to use the indicator that was done by Cory ( Volume Stop) but I can't find the other indicator that you mention ( volume Spike).

Could you tell me other indicator of volume that is useful in conjunction with Volume Stop?.

I appreciate your help.

classical TA has failed to offer any edge to traders for the last past 100 years,, the modern algorithmic codes hardly use volume in their analysis ,, They use patterns using price levels to compute the next close loop,, Volume is not used for simple reason,, large Volume is hidden till it is decomposed and leaked to the market slowly ,, Wolverine uses just the price levels with zero vol info ,,

LOL, please don't say vol is useless only because you don't understand volume.
