did some more investigations.

the new better volume x indicator can also be used for time based charts. if I understand the code correctly, it will plot exactly the same thing like the original better volume indicator on time based charts. of course different results on non time based charts.

so my conclusion is the new better volume x indicator is even more superior than the original:

- same results on time charts
- giving some useful information on non time based charts (range, tick, volume etc)

great work and thanks again.

That is correct. Just extended the concept.

I still think that I can do better, but needs some time and testing.

Hi, Fat Tails,

Some cools stuff though i'm still reading thru the forum and am currently using the BetterVolume2 and trying out the BetterVolumeX.

Quick question is the "new BetterVolumeX" mentioned in the above post different from the BetterVolumeX posted on April 13th by you? And if it is where can i get the new version?

Thanks

It is still the version I posted on April 13. X stands for experimental. I am glad I posted, because I got some useful feedback, also on its limitations.

FT,

Is it possible for you to add a paint bar option for your Better VolumeX indicator?

here's a version that paints the bars (same colors like volume).

Silvester17, thanks mate i like this. I was curious if it would be possible to turn off some of the colors and alerts in the properties menu. I know i could set the colors i don't want to a neutral color, but what can i do for the alerts?

other than adding a true or false option for every alert, I don't know.

maybe fat tails has a better idea.

The indicator has an option to turn off the sound alerts. This means you will either get all or none.

You could try to look for a silent sound file and copy it to the directory where the NinjaTrader sounds are installed (probably C:/program files/NinjaTrader 7/sounds). Then use it for the events that you want to ignore.

Otherwise you can also delete a few lines of the indicator. Which colors and sounds would you like to suppress?

For those who take volume analysis seriously, you should check out the Investor/RT webinar on Wed 27th. It's open to everyone, and a lot of volume-related platform features will be discussed.

You guys may also be interested in a new webinar added to the schedule: Wyckoff Trading Methodology and Q&A on Tuesday, May 10th at 4:30PM Eastern US. Dr. Gary Dayton is presenting, he has a great deal of experience with this methodology.

A dedicated thread for the webinar and further details will be posted in a few days on the forum home page.

Thanks Mike--I second that IRT is a great piece of software though I don't use it anymore due to cost and lack of integrated DOM or chart trading.

Looking very forward to the webinar on Wyckoff!
