Very much agree on the value of Tick with the ES - it is a superb tool.
One thing I've seen overlooked is the frequency of the TICK updates.
Given that TICK is based on the price changes in the particular universe (approx 3200 for nyse), no data vendor calculates it in true real time, but instead offers a snapshot every number of seconds.
For example: dtn iq updates every 2 secs, IB updates every 2 secs (which was news to me - few months ago it was less freq), TOS updates every 15 secs.

What are the various tick symbols for zenfire? Is there a public listing of market breadth indicators available on zf?

None, would need IQFeed.

OK. There is no breadth on Zen Fire.

Sorry if I have misunderstood.

Tradestation Labs released some research on buying low TICK extremes. Interestingly, shorting high TICK extremes don't work out as well.

https://www.tradestation.com:443/support/tslabs/default.aspx?report=12

As a follow-up, I emailed the author with a question and got a response.

My Question ==> In your testing, where you stay long X number of bars (1-30), is 1 bar a 15min bar? And, if you hold after globex close, do you count bars into the Globex session, or just during regular NYSE trading hours?

Tradestation Labs Response ==> I didn’t test any security that trades in the Globex session. I just tested NYSE trading hours securities. But what interested me was that it worked for more than just the 15 min time interval, when you get a chance try 40 mins, try 60 mins, etc…

For some of the shorter intervals like 1, 5 mins the event doesn’t translate I think because of time 1 – 30 bars out is not large enough to see the event. So maybe the event is occurring on bars 100 – 200 out for example.

TICK, TRIN, ADD, etc are available from Kinetick. Nothing beats plotting them right on your futures charts as synchronized series.

Wow, Zondor, I've been lookin for this info everywhere, can you please explain how do you plot them as synchronized series. Thank you in advance.

Is it possible to have a NT sim account and paying for its own data and have a live NT zenfire account to trade from, and I should add.....can you do this on separate computers. As I understand NT is free as long as you are not trading from it.

And as another part of the question....I understand that there are those that trade from NT with zenfire and DO NOT pay for it....something about not using the strategies to trade? Can anyone help out with this side of the trading aspect?

Thank you,

HT

How does iqfeed and Kinetick work with NT? Do I connect to both my broker and one of them during trading?

Does the TICK appears as one of the selectable indicator in the charts?
