Example monthly volume profile when the roll of the contract is in the middle of the month:

Should i include the hole months volume or only the volume of the current (half-month) contract for my monthly levels?

Thanks!

To get the correct levels, best way is to use a continous contract (with NOT back-adjusted) data

I use a continous contract. But i can set the profile source (f.e. last month profile) at the current contract (only half of last month would be marked) or at all contracts (hole last month would be marked).

I guess you mean the all contract setting then?

Thanks tr8der

For example now the ES has rolled. Are f.e. the levels of the last month still important?

Yes of course, but from my experience it would be better to use Not back-adjusted data (if your software can do this)

I agree the continuous contract is the best for establishing support and resistance levels that predate the current months contract. Many are using that chart because it makes life much easier. I will assume that easier will really apply for the institutional players as well.
